I looked at this book about three times before I finally picked it up to read. The cover was eye-catching, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to read a YA novel at the time. However, the whole zombie storyline intrigued me, so I decided to give it a try. The beginning of Alice Bell's story really connected with me. Her family died, the people whom she loved most were lost to her and she had to come to grips with that reality. I felt her pain and her desolation. It was intriguing that her father could ...more

First off this book has nothing to do with Alice in Wonderland. It's not a rewrite of the original tale, so that was a little disappointing. However I really liked some of it. The zombies were not technically "the walking dead," and the overall plot was interesting. My biggest probably was Cole. He was a major control freak that really needed someone to kick his ass. I just could not understand the attraction between Alice and Cole. He was a jerk, possessive, overbearing, and just plain mean. Wh ...more

There's something about Gena Showalter's writing style that reels me in. With that being said, don't pick this book up expecting a horror fest. Much of this book is just Alice getting to know Cole (AKA every other romance in a YA story where you want to punch the guy in the face, then love him) and Kat, learning about zombies, and training. There are plenty of fighting scenes, which happens to be why I loved Alice in Zombieland so much. The characters are unique and there's a new play on zombies ...more

So, awesome! The only downside is I have to wait a year for the next book!!!

Really great read!! Alice has a lot to deal with and the book is a bit of a rollercoaster!!! I loved that she was not an overly angsty teen!!! Oh, and Kat the BFF is awesome!!! Easily my favorite part of the book!!!

Great narration by Natalie Gold. Really easy to distinguish voices and the story flowed beautifully! I am definitely going to check out other books read

I couldn't give this book five stars, only because in the beginning I wasn't so sure I was going to like the book. In fact the whole first chapter I had to force myself to read. However, and I really don't know how Ms. Showalter did it, I slowly found myself coming to like Alice. I think I knew the book had me when she first met Cole. Two things bugged me though, she never reveals just why Justin betrayed the group, or just why Alice is so unique. Maybe in the second book? Anyways overall I real ...more
