Absolutely. At that age I find very few things to be objectionable however. I think a 17-18 should know enough about his or her own body/history/humanity to understand and appreciate these stories. I think historical accounts are important for young people. We teach children as young as ten about the Holocaust, I think midwifery, poverty, and prostitution at 17-18 is definitely an appropriate age.
