What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Sylvia A. Winters The feeling you get when you're actually writing, shortly after you first get the idea and you're planning out characters, learning about them and thinking about all their motives, what they want, where they've been, who they are. Usually the first 10k or so of a story comes easily to me when I've got that in my head, and I write with a big stupid grin on my face. This is also usually when I talk to myself (and my characters) the most, which is fun for me but a bit worrying for my housemates.
