House of Badawi came to me after rewatching a childhood favorite, Tuck Everlasting. I immediately thought to myself... "Hey, what if the Tuck family was actually a legion of 'Keepers,' bound to protect the magical waters. Also, what if it wasn't a family, but a group of women? And what if we tossed them into a fantasy land inspired by Indo-Caribbean ancestry?" I know, sounds like a fever dream. One month later, I was staring at a completed draft.
