Even though this piece is fiction, I love when I find a book and the setting is so close to where I grew up, (Shippensburg,PA) makes the book all that more interesting for me when reading. Johnstown definitely is a predominantly white, prejudice area. I'm curious to know how you found out about this little rinky-dink town? Did you grow up in Pennsylvania or close to Johnstown?

Erin E. Adams Hey Felicia! Thank you for this question. I grew up in the Johnstown area! Specifically Westmont, which is right next door. When I started writing JACKAL I kept including details about the Johnstown flood and other historic events. It got to the point where things were so specific it made sense to set it there.

I love writing my own stories that are horror/thriller for 14-18 for myself. I struggle to write something interesting. I guess how do you get enough suspense where you keep the readers on their feet, and not too much to the point where they know what to expect?
