I look for the reason and don't panic! My worst spell of writer's block was when I was working on the story of Norrell. A good friend whom I met through snail mail when he was in prison.
I climbed up in the attic and read some old letters he had written. Mind blown! The spirit of those letters is what my book is about and after I re-read them I had new direction an inspiration to write again.
