Ruth Angela asked:

The book loops in spirals. I love that because that is a law of living. But some ideas are very hard to fathom. Am I the only one?

Patricia Sokolowski I am part of a study group that meets, reads and discusses. It helps to have feedback from others.
Annemarie Slee dear Ruth, you are never the only one, and yet You Are the Only One ;-)
Listening to the audio book helped me a lot. Try not to understand. Trying to understand is the ego's doubt.
Joe Adams DEFINITELY. The only way I have been able to understand this book is to put the daily lessons to the test and actually experience the results. Otherwise the content would be lost on me. It is definitely a course you have to experience. And like it says, this is not the only way, so if this way does not work ... then try something else!
Loree Bischoff Ruth, I've found that the more I read it the more things make sense and they become easier to fathom. And I definitely agree with Joe - you must do the daily lessons to really start to grasp the meanings of the text. One is either "reading" ACIM or "doing" ACIM. They are not the same thing. The workbook/daily lessons are intended to help you train your mind. They help you put what you're reading in the text into practice, which will in turn help you gain greater understanding of the messages. ACIM says it's not necessary for you to accept, welcome or believe the ideas in the workbook - only that you apply them, without making exceptions. But there are countless ways leading back to Source Ruth, so again, I concur with Joe - if ACIM isn't resonating with you, try another! This isn't the only way!
Ramon Hmmm - to me, 'spirals' may not be the correct word. I would describe it as a circle (being complete within itself). And that means, in this case, truth. If an idea can lead me in many directions, I do not have confidence in that idea. But if the idea leads me back to itself, then I think it has truth value. Not tending to lead me on in the seemingly unending 'spiral.' Just a thought.
kelliegirl I use A Course in Miracles for Dummies.. a guide to the workbook. It's by Thomas Wakechild and I can't recommend it enough. I think he may have passed now as I haven't heard anything of him in some years. You can find his ebook on Kindle/Amazon for around $10. Worth every cent.
Danielle Humphrey Man am I lost but, i just keep reading and it is making a bit more sense. Really wishing I had a teacher/professor or a class
J.I GILLLIGAN Hola, Ruth (¡precioso tu nombre!)
Marilyn Brine I suggest starting with The Lessons section of this book and as it says, to simply accept each lesson even if the idea is radical to the beliefs of the world. Each lesson builds on the one before it so eventually it begins to make sense. I also belong to a study group that helps me most in being surrounded by others who are learning to "be in the world but not of it".
