George asked Chris Pavone:

Hi Chris, I was wondering how you do your research for a novel?

Chris Pavone For my first novel, The Expats, my primary research was that I gave up my career, moved abroad, became a stay-at-home parent to little kids, and traveled around Europe regularly. For The Accident, the research was that I’d spent two decades working in the book-publishing business. So I guess the bulk of my research has been living my life. I also do a bit of factual background—reading CIA memoirs, or books about cyber-crime, for example—but the truth is that very little of this research ends up in my novels.
