What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Christopher Patterson The thing that appeals most to me about being a writer is the ability to create something. I was also a musician and even though I loved playing good music, I really enjoyed creating music. There was just something super cool about being the one that made a song that someone enjoyed, and so I take the same enjoyment when it comes to writing. Being the person who has created a plot or a world that enhances someone's life and sparks their imagination is such an honor.

As writers, we all love great stories and want to read great stories, but I want to be the writer of a great story, to have people try to envision what your characters look like and what your world looks like, that is truly cool. And then when someone tells you this is what they saw and experienced as a reader, and its the exact way you envisioned it, that is even cooler.

The other very appealing thing about being a writer is being able to do something that you love doing and having the potential to get paid for it. How many people get to say that they get paid, and at times very well, for doing something they absolutely love. Of course there are ups and downs, but at the end of the day, writing is a passion for a writer and therefore doesn't feel like work at all.
