Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Nigel Bird The idea for my recent book came while I was decorating my living room 20 years ago. I initially wrote it as a screenplay, did nothing with it and left it in a drawer. In 2013, I felt moved to turn the story into a novel and am delighted with the way it turned out. Most of all, I'm pleased that the characters were finally brought to life when readers around the world poured breath into them.
