Sophie asked Steve Robinson:

I am a huge fan of your JT series. I just finished 'To The Grave' this morning and I could have cried my heart out with the emotion I felt for the character without giving too much away ;) I wanted to ask if you ever found your maternal grandfather? You mentioned this was your inspiration. I wondered if this book was a tribute to him, or who you wished he would have been. Thanks, Sophie

Steve Robinson Hi Sophie. What a great question. Thanks for asking it, and I'm glad you're enjoying the series. I did find my maternal grandfather. At least I found his resting place, which is the Riverside cemetery in LA. It was with much help from another reader of the series, an American amateur genealogist, who got in touch about my books initially and then and asked if she could help to trace him, which she certainly did, and I'm very grateful to her. This book wasn't so much my for my GI grandfather specifically, but for both of my maternal grandparents, particularly my nan, and all the nans, to which I feel the WW2 era truly belongs.
