How did you become interested in writing about magic?

Brian Rathbone I think my affinity for magic stems from reading fantasy and role playing. Those activities form some of my fondest memories and are things I shared with most of my friends. The bonds formed in our teenage years have continued to this day. In fact, I'm now writing books with some of those friends. It still brings back those same feelings I experienced when first reading Dragonlance for the first time or Shannara.

Hi, I noticed that you don't reference Mercedes Lackey as an influence, but I notice that Call of the Herald looks a lot like the Magic's Price/Pawn, etc, novels. Did you read those & how did they influence your writing or interest in Fantasy?
