I really enjoyed this story. It felt so much like an episode from the show. The author captured the characters well. As a bonus, there was only one curse word in the whole thing (I go in expecting more so I don't dock stars for language unless it because in excess of the show)
The plot was so interesting and I loved how it all tied to gether in the end....more

This was a short book that perhaps feels unneeded for a mature Christian, yet it's always good to be reminded of the simple yet hard truths that are at the foundation of our faith (leave everything to follow Jesus).
This would be a great resource for new Christians, or for a Christian to hand to someone seeking Jesus to discuss together. ...more

I loved seeing how TaylorThis is not the first book I read about Hudson Taylor, but I really enjoyed visiting this man who loved God and China again. I loved seeing how Taylor lived a life dependent on God and helped others see that God was the source of strength and peace in the midst of chaos. In a culture (that often bleeds over into the church) that gives an excuse for bad behavior, bad habits, and destructive ways of thinking, this is a call that there is never a situation so big, so scary, so traumatic, that God isn't in complete control. Peace can always be found in looking up to him.
I know I will be thinking about this book for a while and seeking to apply the wisdom to my own life....more

Yes, the romance was a little shallow and quick, but it was still sweet, innocent, and endearing. My sister, Rose, and I listened through the first four or five books with this narrator while we worked on a quilt for our mom when we were teens. It was when we were listening to the books that I lost a little taste for Anne. I hit one book and gotr weary of how Anne was adored by everyone eventually and how she excused her bad behavior at times. Yet, as I reread this book, I fell in love all over again with the characters. Is Anne my favorite ever? no. However, this is a sweet and beautiful book. Well, This book was okay, but honestly my least favorite so far of the series. Remember how Patty learned moderation in all things in the first book? Well, she is now a lazy, pleasure-seeking person by this book. She seems to enjoy her ignorance and enjoys pretending to be too young to think about serious things (which I understand culturally at the time childhood innocence carried into adulthood was valued) but still...
