This book is very basic, by-the-numbers sf--but with the added thrill of being written right after A New Hope came out. Thus, the entire story is about Luke and Leia's sexual tension. Sure you always intended them to be siblings, Lucas. Sure.

Trin Haha, that was always my favorite thing about this book, too. Man, I wish I knew what had happened to my copy.

Jim Cherry Man, haven't read this since it came out. Coincidentally, I was thinking about it a few weeks ago. I didn't think much of the force witch when I first read it, but maybe I should take another pass at it.

Dave Cook I really didn't sense that the whole story was wrapped around the "sexual" tension of Luke and Leia. Sure there were moments where he indicated a fondness of her, but despite the fact nobody knew at this point they were brother and sister, I thought the romantic issues were very secondary to the actual story.

Wealhtheow I last read it as a teenager, years ago, so you're probably right, Dave.

But this book remains an interesting artifact from the time when the only Star Wars was A New Hope, before Anakin or Padme or even Leia as a force-sensitive. And it does have a great lightsaber battle between Vader and Leia, iirc.

Dave Cook Yea, I really found that light-saber duel at the end with Leia and Vader, very interesting. Especially knowing what we know now.

Gerwin Wallace Haha. Well said.
