4+ thought-provoking stars!

Wow! This is one of the most impactful audiobooks I’ve listened to in a long time. This was my first experience with this author and I was glued to the story. I flew through this in a couple days, finding time to listen to a chapter or two during any spare minute I had.

Warning ⚠️: It is HIGHLY uncomfortable and disturbing but also extremely unputdownable. Check trigger warnings!

The premise of this novel puts any parent in a nightmare predicament. Your teenage child honour-roll student, award winning swimmer, small town star athlete is convicted as a sexual offender. Initial reactions may include turning your back on your child in disgust and humiliation and letting them face the legal and social consequences alone. But, would you really abandon your child? This novel explores this gut wrenching scenario and just how far a parent would go to support their child.

The storyline is tense from start to finish. I will be thinking of this novel for a very long time, as I’m still struggling to find answers in how I feel about the characters decisions. The characters were very real, stirring my emotions and challenging my thoughts.

This won’t be for everyone, but I encourage you to pick this up if you feel you can handle the topic. I applaud this author for writing this controversial book in such a thought-provoking way.

🎧 I listened to this on audio and it was done very well! I give the audio narrator 4 stars for their presentation of this unforgettable story.

Lindsay L Thank you Holly, Kaceey and Luna!

Esperanza Navarro It’s so fascinating how we can have such different takes on books. I actually hated this one. I felt the author sympathized with the culprit and that rubbed me very wrong. I loved your review though!
