Count me in!
By my count, we have 46 separate shelves counting Sept and Oct choices. Is that correct? (Psst: I noticed no one has ever picked Romance)
The books have to be read within the month of October, correct? No pre-reading?
Rude d. No skipping shelves...I assume that means I have to try to read something for every shelf, but, when posting (per the example), the shelves are obviously skipped. SOOO...All shelves must be represented if I finish the game. That is what I think you mean by this rule.

Did you try clicking on the download original button, that's what I had to do and it worked fine then :-)

That's weird, wonder why it worked for me then? Ahhhh the mysteries of the internet...
Count me in, but to all who know me, you know I probably won't finish, lol. Still it will be fun. I love Shel-a-Thon games.

Same here, Dee. I can't get it to download. Luckily I have a REALLY old one from Tien from when we used to do the original Shelf-a-thon game, so I can just adapt.

So for example, The Diary of a Young Girl, when i got to top shelves, on the first two pages there is: classics, biography, history, young-adult, childhood, literature, romance and abandoned. I could count this book as having read of 8 shelves?
Yep, Ebony, that is correct. The goal is to hit as many shelves on the list as possible in 4 weeks. :)

Here's my book plan so far, have to go take my 3 year old to dance class now so will finish planning later today.

Actually there are 49 shelves in total but 2 are the same so 47 unique shelves. And there is 'romance' - back in August 2009 ;)
And yes, books to be read between 1-28 October inclusive (no pre-reading).

13 books - not bad! I was wondering if anyone will finish with 7 or 8 though... maybe if they take up HP. Wonders if anyone here hasn't read HP?

Wow, Amy! Only 8 books. Impressive!"
Thanks! Took me a lot of hours to come up with the 8 books. A few are REALLY long, so 8 will likely feel more like 12.
I am impressed, too, Amy. I, unfortunately, usually have my books for the next month set by the 20th of the prior month or so, and in looking at the 12 books I have slated for October, there are not many that fit. They either hit the same shelves, which is some cases makes no sense, or they are too new to have many, or in one case--ANY-- shelves.
One of the things I love about both this group in general, and the Shelf-a-thons in particular is seeing how some people shelve certain books. It cracks me up.

Woohoo! A great start with 10 shelves, Sam :)

Thanks Tien! Sadly that's the highest number for the books I've got planned so its all down hill from here ;-)

I think it's deliberate, the universe is conspiring to maximize our reader requirements...not that we need an excuse of course ;-)
I may have read the directions wrong. Are we supposed to be reporting our progress in new messages as we go along, or just editing them in our big post?

No worries, Candiss - Glad you found something better LOL ;)

Susan, I might be wrong, but I thought our main post was for updating the actual book read and the shelves it matched when we are done. Since I may not use the same books that I have so far read, I do not plan to update that list until the game ends or I finish (if I manage to do that) as I probably will move books or change the shelves counted for a book.
However, I do not see any problem or conflict with stating how many books read that I am currently counting and how many shelves they match. It keeps the competition going. But, I do not think it is required. Only the end posting if you want credit for what you have done.

Oh, I certainly see no problem with people posting things as they want to. I just got worried that I might be neglecting my "duty." :)

Ha, Ha! I do understand that!

@Susan:
I think you have read Inkspell - indicated by the tick in front of the title on your post but you've forgotten to note the date read...
Plus you are claiming 15 shelves for this book? Which means your total should be 17/49?

Official Game Period: 1 - 28 October 2012
Object of the Game: To read off all "picked" shelves with the least number of books within 4 weeks.
a. To have read a book off a shelf, you must read a book that is found on that particular shelf. ie. to have read book off the Mystery shelf, you must read a book that is found on Mystery shelf. For example, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is on the top of this shelf.
b. A single book may be found on several shelves however we will only count the first 2 pages of top shelves for this book. Following above example, you may find The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo are found on the following shelves: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - See Top Shelves.... However we will only count the first 2 pages of listed shelves for this challenge (note: this is to make it easier for everybody as there are 106 pages of shelves for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo!)
c. You don’t have to read off the shelves in any particular order of shelves but the name of shelves must match exactly to the shelf you are trying to count. No deviations are acceptable (check the spelling off the official list).
d. NO skipping shelves for this Birthday Edition of Mini SAT.
e. It is permissible to read a book that is found on a shelf you've already counted; just ignore those when you are tracking them.
There are 2 shelves which have been picked twice in the last 4 years (historical-fiction & classics), you don't have to read off these shelves twice (ie. you can read book a to tick off both 'classics' picks)
As usual, I do have a ready for this game. I've been having a problem with Google Docs though. It says that it's finished uploading and it's given me a link but I've not been able to open / download the worksheet. I'm not sure if the problem lies with Google or me so I've included the link here for you to try and if it doesn't work, PM me your email address & I'll email it to you ;)
