How far into the shelf pages can we go? Like, does a book need to be on the first 2 pages of the shelf to count, or does it count as long as it's been shelved there?

I deleted my prior entry because I got confused on my rolls and messed up my grid. I also think I need more info.
Tien, what happens if I roll the same combo twice? Do I read two books for that box and then only need one more? Do I discount the duplicated roll and roll again?

@Ebony: that's fine, you can choose / change your books later but not your rolls :)
As long as the book is on that shelf, it doesn't matter which page :)
@Coralie: ah... I was probably really lucky that I didn't get a double roll so I didn't think about this part of the ruling! Well... technically, you already have "filled" this cell (playing Connect Four), so you can't put another coin in there so I'd say ignore any doubling up so you can take out your Roll 5 (noting doubling up with Roll 3). I'll amend the rules above. Cheers!

Btw, Ebony, for the sake of procastination, I actually planned books for challenges that I am not even trying to participate in (just cus I really don't have time for them) but it's just really fun wasting time that way, LOL
All right. I have decided not to do this game, Tien. I just rolled the die to plan out and found that I would need to read 14 books! Just not possible with my life, schedule, and other challenges.
Rolled 6/2, 5/2, 5/1, 2/2, 5/5, 1/6, 3/2, 1/1, 4/3, 3/6, 5/6, 3/4, 3/6, 4/5 with a diagonal from books 11, 12 and 14!

Connect 3: Rolls 4, 6 & 8
Read: 8/8
OMG, Bea - before when I was trial-ing this game, I always get somewhere around 7 or 8 rolls to connect three!
Btw, your last 2 rolls aren't needed, you got connect three with rolls 2, 9, & 12 ;) I know, still too many!

Bea...I don't know if it will help, but it looks like you'd need to read 12 rather than 14. You get a diagonal connect 3 with rolls 2, 9 and 12. Still a lot of books, but 2 fewer than you thought.
I totally missed the 2,9,12 Amy and Tien. However, that is still too many books. I will sit this one out.

No worries, Bea - you're in 2 and there are 2 more to come ;)

I think I'll have to choose between this one and Game 2 (since I'm still not even half-way through the mini-SAT). Here are my rolls:
Roll 1: 1/3 = historical fiction
Roll 2: 6/3 = England
Roll 3: 5/3 = cookbooks
Roll 4: 4/2 = favorite-authors
Roll 5: 5/6 = comedy
Roll 6: 2/2 = memoir
Roll 7: 6/4 = free-read
Connect Three: Rolls 3, 4, & 7
Read 0/7
I think I'll probably choose this one to sit out, because of the cookbook in roll 3. I always have trouble finding one I like there. But I'll leave my rolls posted here just in case I change my mind.

ROFL - I've been waiting for your rolls, Susan! It's so funny how you seem to always hit the cookbooks! I, of course, got a randomizer to pick the shelves and contemplated taking this one out (thinking of you) but... I guess I wanted to see if you'd hit it again and you DID LOL

So funny that you thought about it. And, of course, that it did happen. After all, the odds were roughly 29-7 that it wouldn't. It's almost enough to make me wonder whether someone is pulling some strings, trying to get me to spend more time cooking. NOT going to happen. :)

BTW - I am doing all 4 games, plus the MT. TBR one, but I am not "officially" doing them, as I plan to take as long as I need to get them completed. I just like the challenge of finding the books mostly, lol.

Lyn, I thought about doing that also, especially because it looks like I will not finish the first one...but I am enjoying it. I thought that I might just finish it even if I go longer than the end date on Sunday.

That is what I am going to do, Bea.
That is what I am going to do, Bea.
Yes Yes I know just how addictive planning can be! I do the same myself ;)
Although, you do notice I've not limited any page lenghts etc?
Am fitting in some novellas with the hopes of completing the challenges ;)

It is adapted to a 6x6 matrix as we'll be rolling 2 die to determine moves. Each cell will note the Shelf from which you are to read from or if you’re lucky, a Free-Read.
Official Game Period: 15 October - 11 November 2012
Object of the Game: to have read off all the cells rolled and therefore, also Connect Three within 4 weeks.
Note: Books must be read in order of corresponding cells rolled.
:
First dice (on the left) - go horizontally
Second dice (on the right) - go vertically
So if I roll 5 & 1: It's a Free-Read
if I roll 1 & 5: I'd have to read from shelf 'historical-romance'
You may roll ahead to plan your reads but to Connect
FourThree, you will have read from 3 cells which are connected either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. If you roll the same numbers more than once, ignore any doubling up as technically, when you're playing Connect Four, once you've filled in a spot with a coin, you can't touch it anymore. So, you don't have to read more than 1 book for a particular cell.
