Heather | 268 comments Hello Team Cinderella! I guess I am the first to check in. I am coming from winning two back to back team challenges so hopefully I can bring a little luck with me! :)

I currently live in Houston but was born and raised in Baltimore. I have 3 kiddos. Ages 19, 11 & 19mos. I gotta hubby too...at times, he can be more demanding than the kids!

I'm excited to start this challenge. :)

Holli | 333 comments Hi all! Checking in, too. Looking forward to the challenge. :)

message 7: by Holli (new)

Holli | 333 comments Probably should add my bio as well. I'm live in and am from Texas; currently residing near Granbury. I'm a freelance writer, a mosquito magnet, and have an insane pet cat. :)

Feel free to add me as a friend.

message 8: by Emma (M) (new)

Emma (M) Hi Everyone, I'm looking forward to this challenge.

Anyway, I'm from Canberra, Australia, I am a public servant and live with my partner, two dogs and a cat :)

Happy to be friended too.

Taya:) | 332 comments Hello teammates,
I read mostly MM books. I'm currently in a book rut. I'm hoping this challenge will motivate me to read more. Starting stressful but fun 6 months mm scavenger hunt book challenge next month. I've watch multiple versions of Cinderella. Here is hoping for the best.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1052 comments Hello Team! I am so excited to be part of this team and this challenge. I will go ahead and friend everyone if that's okay.
I live in New Orleans with my husband and my two 20something daughters. I have two other kids who are married and don't live at home (obviously!). I signed up to be a co-captain, so is anyone else up for that additional bit of fun?
I need to read over the rules a few more times to completely understand everything, but it looks like most things can be tracked pretty easily by a spreadsheet.
Looking forward to chatting about books!

message 11: by Heather (new)

Heather | 268 comments Hi TayaJay and Leslie!! I think we're gonna have fun here at Team Cinderella!!

message 12: by Jodi (new)

Jodi (jojolyn) | 672 comments Hi Team!

Stopping in to say hello. I live in Ohio with my cat, Shadow. I am in the process of moving at the end of June, so I am passing on the role of captain.

I am excited to start another challenge. :) This challenge looks interesting, I might have some questions. LOL

message 13: by Jodi (last edited Jun 10, 2015 05:30PM) (new)

Jodi (jojolyn) | 672 comments Has anyone figured out how they are going to prepare their books to read? I have created another shelf tbr-grimm for my books, I think I might read during this challenge. I was wondering what you all might be doing?

I think I might have my 1st title that I am reading.

message 14: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1052 comments I will start putting books on the shelf that might work for the challenge, but other than that - I have so many to choose from that I should be alright, no matter what is called.

message 15: by Holli (new)

Holli | 333 comments I have several books and about half a long series that will work for the bonus initial combinations.

message 16: by ~Leslie~ (last edited Jun 10, 2015 06:48PM) (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1052 comments Week 1 Task: Blue Cover
6/17 - 23

Cinderella: Cinderella is famous for her blue dress, read any book with something blue on the cover.

Our first mini challenge of the challenge!

Mini Challenge #1: Once Upon a Time
Dates: 6/17 - 6/23

The How To's:
Every fairy tale starts with once upon a time
This week any book who's cover has a method of telling time on it (clock, sun, watch, hourglass, etc)
A number in the title (series # doesn't count!) or a method of telling time in the title.
Series name counts as title (again excluding the series #)

Will score you an additional 20 points per book.

message 17: by Heather (new)

Heather | 268 comments I also have a different shelf for possible books to read. Ill constantly reference it and add to it. Its easy to delete that one when our challenge is finished.

message 19: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1052 comments If anyone can read Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer next week, that would be awesome! I've read it and it's a great book. I'm willing to read it again if no one else can.

In the next several days, I will create a post with links to different shelves and lists with book possibilities. If you have links that should be included, PM me and I will gather them all together to make it easier to find. Heather, I have your shelf link and will add it to the post! Great idea.

I am getting excited!

message 20: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Here's an example of the tracking, scoring, 10 tasks etc in this post

Sometimes "seeing it" is better than me trying to explain it lol.

message 21: by Heather (new)

Heather | 268 comments This was the example Jenne just posted of how our completed "10" should look. I also like knowing what the abbreviations stand for.

Ok example:
For example purposes lets say the task was black on the cover with a mini challenge of 2 people on the cover. Once you've completed 10 books that fit the task group it together something like this:

Task books:
1. Priceless PP 25 (include who read the book too)
2. Cruel Beauty PP 30, FTR 50, TNB 50,
3. Immortal Rider PP 35, AI 50, TNB 50, MCP 20
4. Of Beast and Beauty PP 30, FTR 50, TNB 50,
and so on until you get to 10

At this point include any books that didn't fit the task and summarize them the same i.e.
The Fairest of Them All PP 25, FTR 50
Reached PP 40
White Hot Kiss PP 30, TNB 50, MCP 20

Then total up your totals:

Total PP for this post:
Total FTR for this post:
Total TNB for this post:
Total AI for this post:
Total MCP:
Total For complete task: 100

FYI:
PP stands for page points
FTR stands for fairytale retelling
TNB for team name bonus
AI for author initial
MCP stands for mini challenge points.

message 22: by Heather (new)

Heather | 268 comments These are all the accepted names for the Team Name Bonus. Obviously, all this info can be found elsewhere but I just think it's easier if its in our team thread.

Cinderella: Cinder, cinders, Ella
Snow White: Snow, snowed, snows, snowing, white, whites
Little Mermaid: Little, Wee, Small, Mermaid, Merfolk, Merman
Red Riding Hood: Red, reds, ride, riders, riding, rider, hood, hoods, hooded
Beauty & the Beast: beauty, beautiful, beauties, beast, beasts, beastly
Sleeping Beauty: Sleep, sleeping, sleepy, asleep, beauty, beautiful, beauties
Peter Pan: Peter, pan, pans

message 25: by Emma (M) (new)

Emma (M) Leslie, I'm happy to co-captain if no-one else wants to. I will be moving house over the next week or so, so might not be able to contribute fully to start, but should be fine afterward.

message 26: by Emma (M) (last edited Jun 11, 2015 01:26AM) (new)

Emma (M) I've got my first book:

Chasing Time by Travis Hill . It fits the main task, the mini task and author name points. Unfortunately the only fairy tale retellings I have are either too short or don't have blue on them so are better left for a different week.

I'm loving the challenge of finding books that can accrue the most points - this is so much fun :)

message 27: by Heather (new)

Heather | 268 comments Hi Steph! I think book two would give us the most points. I might read it too. It sounds really good!

I saw you and I both said maybe to being team captain. As Emma said I don't mind doing it either. Let me know what you'd like to do. I'm still in team captain mode since the Battle of the Gods challenge just ended! So I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes if someone else wants to do it. :)

message 29: by Heather (new)

Heather | 268 comments Sadie wrote: "I plan on reading Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer once this starts. :)"

I'm planning on reading this too. I actually thought I was the last person left that hasn't read it! Lol

message 30: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1052 comments Heather, it looks like you are much more organized than me! I am happy for you to be captain and Emma co-captain! I will definitely be able to help in the beginning while Emma is moving. Having just moved, I know how crazy that is!! How does that sound for everyone? I didn't mean to jump in and assume!

message 31: by Heather (new)

Heather | 268 comments I've already read this book Snow White Sorrow so it won't be on my shelf. But its really good and a different take on Snow White if anyone is looking for something new. Im planning on reading the sequel Cinderella Dressed in Ashes.

Snow White Sorrow (The Grimm Diaries, #1) by Cameron Jace Cinderella Dressed in Ashes (The Grimm Diaries, #2) by Cameron Jace

I was curious...has anyone here ever heard of The White Snake? I didn't. I actually had to look it up! Lol

message 32: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments When we have a new challenge like this launched it takes the questions in order to work the kinks out and find any holes.

In order to keep things simplified I'm going to change the ruling on re-tellings, modern tales, etc.

IF IT'S BEEN SHELVED AT LEAST 5 TIMES AS A RE-TELLING OR FAIRY TALE IT'LL COUNT TOWARDS THE FTR BONUS.

IF IT'S ON A FAIRY TALE LISTOPIA I'LL TAKE IT

SO THIS WILL MAKE ROMEO& JULIET AND WIZARD OF OZ COUNT SINCE THEY'VE BEEN SHELVED MULTIPLE TIMES.

And I'm not shouting that just making it visible :)

message 33: by Heather (new)

Heather | 268 comments Lol Thanks Jenne!

message 34: by Emma (M) (new)

Emma (M) Since there are two of you that are happy to be captain I will pull out. I said in my registration I didn't want to be and would rather not be captain, but I didn't know if we had two in our group who wanted to be so I volunteered. Leslie and Heather, very happy for it to be both of you :)

message 35: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1052 comments That sounds great Emma! I just didn't want to step on any toes.

And thanks, Jenne! This is a great team challenge - and you are amazing to do it.

Heather | 268 comments Here's an example of how we all should post their completed books. Or something similar to this. This way we're all doing it the same and it'll be easy to add to the spreadsheet.

message 46: by Heather (last edited Jun 12, 2015 05:44PM) (new)

Heather | 268 comments Its on my list too! If anyone is interested heres my "maybe" list. I found alot of retellings of all the teams main fairytales. I tend to read more modern/current type books. So if you read Historical Fiction I'm not sure you'll like my list. Lol There are a few random books in there too that I'm just considering. ;)

grimm possibilities
