This month our challenge is to read a book which has been, or will be, made into a movie!

Some suggestions in our AR thread:
Movies & TV Series

Also a list of some books to be made into movies this year:
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
Carrie by Stephen King
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
Jack Ryan (unsure which book it's based on yet) by Tom Clancy

Links to help out:
Books Made into Movies
The Movie Made You Want To Read The Book
Both the Book & the Movie are good!

Curl up in front of the fire with a book/movie - plus the popcorn...and ENJOY!

Amber (ukaunz) Bother... none of my remaining Winter Challenge books fit in with this challenge. I'll have to think about whether I can fit another book in next month. Pity I didn't save Angels & Demons until July! :-D

Thanks Brenda. Yes my husband found it and I just had to use it as it really describes how I feel about reading.

Norain I have just read Gatsby and am currently reading The Godfather. Oh, bother! I think I will read Cloud Atlas. I did not know its origin was a book. I had just watched the movie with my friends, so it will be nice to compare both versions (considering I am never the movie type).

Michael (knowledgelost) I still not sure which book I want to read for this challenge, so many choices

I might read Doctor Zhivago or The Silence of the Lambs ...or I might find another;)

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Nicola wrote: "I'll read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn RandAtlas Shrugged / Ayn Rand as a friend lent it to me about 2 years ago and it makes me guilty everytime I see it on the shelf!"

I grabbed a copy of that at work they were going to throw out - imagine! I might try to do that too - or more likely I'll force myself to read The Road finally.

message 28: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) Why would the throw out a classic D:

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Michael wrote: "Why would the throw out a classic D:"

I must take a photo next weeding season. Last week I had to tip about twenty books directly into the recycling bin that we'd taken off the catalogue. Kills me every time.

message 30: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79132 comments Mod
That's terrible! There are that many people out there who don't have any books to read! Tell them to donate them!!

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) I have, they didn't go for it unfortunately. I try to grab any good ones I see before they go.

message 32: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) Couldn't they be donated or something, I'm sure my bookshelves and many others are always looking for new books. But charity shops might be able to sell them.

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Yeah I've recommended Savers before, and Save the Children's. Savers is too far away, and Save the Childrens are a bit of a ripoff really.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9880 comments Does it have to be a movie? Or could it be a TV series? Still page to screen...... Just looking at my TBR and I have one in there I could do

I think that's the one that has 1408 in it as well. I really enjoyed that, both book and movie.

My institution also throws the books into the weeding bin. We also had a few things to say about it but politics still wins. At least they get pulped and made into recycled paper and not just dumped ito landfill tho'.

Jackmeister | 660 comments I'm in, I'll read City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare by Cassandra Clare, luckily I have it on hand already.

Good choice! Although the film and book end quite differently, both are good.

The Light Between Oceans (didn't read it for the June challenge so I might read it here)

The Postman Always Rings Twice

Cloudstreet

The Secret in Their Eyes

Under the Dome

The Big Sleep

Lord of the Flies

Some good choices there Mish! You'll need to put all the titles in a hat and then pull one out;)

Trina (trina88) | 263 comments I forgot about Under the Dome (which I own) until one of the girls at work mentioned something about the tv show (movie? miniseries?) today. Maybe I'll read that (it's just so big!)

If I remember correctly I think it was a TV miniseries.

Yes, it is rather big and that's the only think that is putting me off.
