So my options :
After the Darkness by Honey Brown (2012) How It Feels by Brendan Cowell (2011) The Warded Man (Demon Cycle, #1) by Peter V. Brett (2011) The Passage (The Passage, #1) by Justin Cronin (2011)

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) I'ma read City of Bones. Lets see how overrated it is :P

Zara's Retreat Is it possible, and/or allowable, to use the book/s from this challenge with the Spring one which also starts in September? This would help in killing two birds with the one stone.

Yes Zara, that is fine:)

Elaine | 2001 comments I'm in but didn't really see anything on the old lists I feel like reading so like some others will wait and see what's on this year's list. Thanks again Brenda...I think!!! No it's always fun seeing the challenges you come up with. They never disappoint and these monthly ones are a bit more manageable.

You're welcome Elaine:)

I just discovered Michael Robothams new release Watching You will be on the Get Reading list, AND he's coming to a library near me on the 23rd Sept:D AND Jaye Ford will be at my library on the 24th, promoting her new release Blood Secret Oh happy days;)

Elaine | 2001 comments I could see how that would get you excited Brenda. He's very popular at Dymocks, at the moment. His book keeps selling out. I've never read anything of his. Maybe I should start with this one. One of our customers read it and thoroughly enjoyed it and she had never read him before either.

I said this to another member this morning when she asked about him:

He's really good Sharon:) I read Suspect first as it's the beginning of the O'Loughlin series, but then I read Say You're Sorry which is #6. Both 5 stars....I think they can be read as stand-alone, the only thing I found was the history of the main character is missing a little...but not enough to bother me:)

So it's up to you as to whether you start with his new one or at the beginning of the series:)

message 19: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 2001 comments I would probably be inclined to start at the beginning Brenda, only because I'm a bit pedantic that way but I'm sure they can be read as you say as "stand-alones". Plus I would feel I'd be missing out on something. That's part of my OCD when it comes to books and reading!!!

Since it was written for teenage girls I doubt you will like it. Why not choose something you will enjoy?

Kathy i'm confused, is this years list going to be a 'best of' or a 2013 list or both?

Kathy wrote: "i'm confused, is this years list going to be a 'best of' or a 2013 list or both?"

On the 1st September, the top 50 list will be released Kathy. Yes it's confusing as they won't release until then, which is a pain for us releasing the challenge earlier than then. But on the 1st I will put the link up for the 50 books:)

I can't bring myself to read that because I hate the title so much. And I cannot explain why.

That's so funny - I'm really put off by the name as well and I have no idea why. Probably why it's been on my TBR pile for so long.

Yep, it's been on my TBR for a while also - just realised, I should use it for the Melbourne Cup choice in the Spring Challenge.
