Kay Kay | 1794 comments Good Morning. I might keep working on Storm Front then and finish Three Cups of Tea tomorrow. I have one chapter left. It is SLOW!
I'm excited to see how we did and what our new goals will be. I have a busy day with family and won't have much time to try to finish something today.

message 504: by Kay Kay (new)

Kay Kay | 1794 comments Wow! How on Earth did you read a Brief History of Time so fast! You are amazing! I thought I was a fast reader, but you guys make me look like a turtle! But my daughter loves turtles, so I'm good! :)

message 505: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3764 comments I agree with Karen lol

Hmm... A farm huh? I don't think I have anything to fulfill that goal.

Lol Karrie - turtles are great! I don't think you are reading like one tho!!

message 506: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3764 comments Juliana - let me know if your books works for that goal. If so I'll pause mine for a future goal. If not I'll continue reading.

I definitely won't have it done today tho so it will have to count for next round. I might have another book done I'm in the middle of but I'm not sure. I have some stuff to do today so it depends how fast I get that all done.

Well done Sanz and Shan!

Karrie - lol! I had the hawking book on audio and I listen on 1.25 speed so it was only a bit over 4 hours. Being a Saturday I listened to it while doing all my chores and I also finished a mosaic today so listened to it then too. I'm pushing myself at the moment but usually don't read quite this fast! I'm also 8 months pregnant so not sleeping well which gives more reading time (case in point, it is currently 3.15am!)

***New goal***

Read a book first published on the 3rd of a month

I'll check our books in a few hours unless someone else can get there sooner :)

message 511: by Kay Kay (new)

Kay Kay | 1794 comments Wow! I listen at 1.25 usually too, but I started Outlander and the reader is excellent! But she has a Scottish accent, so I had to put it at 1 so I could figure it out! Congrats on your soon to be family addition! We will have a baby gladiator!

Melissa | 3764 comments Nice Karrie!!!

Karen I made a mistake about the character that dies. It's Irex who dies in The Winners Curse not Deliah. Sorry about that!!

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Hi team!!! So much happened while I was away!!
Today finally made a sunny and warm Saturday here on Oslo, probably our last this summer, so I grabbed my hub and we went explore a different city and we even got some beach time!
And I also read a lot too. It was a awesome day!!

I still have 70-ish pages of Armada to read, but I don't think it would fits the main location (setting) as a plane or other flying ship goal, since a lot happens outside the ships.

Off to update the book first published on the 3rd of a month goal

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments ** New Goal **

Read a book with a black cover.

Sounds like a lovely day!

We've been having lovely clear and sunny winter days too. This morning my husband is taking my son to swimming lessons and then we are deciding what to do with the day. We are trying to get out as much as possible before the new baby arrives :o

No worries about your boook. Melissa has one to cover it - the whole of Across the Universe is set on a flying ship

Status Update

Goal 1:

Less than 2 hours until the end of round 1 (). So if any of your existing read books that haven't been used for a goal have a ghost or have a farm scene, please let us know!
At this stage looks like we'll be paired with Maximus and they have some tough open goals!

±õ²Ôê²õ Faria (inesrfaria) | 209 comments Hi guys!
Sorry I haven't updated recently, I've been on holidays in Alentejo with my family these past four days and there was no wi-fi :(
Unfortunately, I haven't finished any books, but I'm half-way through a few though :)
I was completely overwhelmed by the amount of challenges we've completed. Great job, team!
I'm reading Scarlet right now, and she owns a farm, so there are people visiting her. I think that counts for the goal, right? I've just started it, so I'll only be able to finish it next round.
Sorry again, I'll try to read a bit more these next weeks.

Scarlet will count for the goal - thanks!

Joanne Whoops I thought this round was ending Sunday (well I guess it is, but for me it's still Saturday night) so I thought we had another day left. I would have saved my two books then to use for next round. Instead, here they are!

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Sorry for not updating the black cover goal, team. I wasn't sure with The Giver worked and then I was so tired that I eat and went to bed.

We did a AWESOME job on round 1!!!

message 533: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Should we stop using this thread and use the Team Vlad instead, or we only go there to work the goals?

message 534: by Karen ⊰✿, Fiction Aficionado (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 16474 comments Mod
No probs Juliana! I'm not sure what will be best actually, but maybe we try sticking to the Team Vlad thread and of it gets too confusing then maybe we keep posting our read books here?

message 535: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Ok! Chat there and finished books here.

I agree that posting our books here would make it easier to track and update our spreadsheet.

So I just finished Armada by Ernest Cline . Sadly was only a 3 stars for me. A lot of references but not so much development of the characters. At the end I felt like I had read a video game script.

Armada

I have to think with 6 goals at any one time we surely have to get that "lucky" again, right? :)

message 539: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3764 comments Not sure where I should post this so I put it on both threads lol

I've finished my book for the ghost goal!!

GOAL: Read a book where a character is a ghost

Sapphire Blue
Pages: 354
Goal: James - school ghost

Read a book with a book on the cover.

message 542: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3764 comments Juliana- I posted in the other thread too - this is confusing lol

The other team finished a ghost goal too I wasn't sure which book you wanted to use. My book had an X character in it so maybe want to hold onto that in case we get that goal?

message 543: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Hey Melissa, I didn't thought to go see the other thread before updating our spreadsheet. :(
So, I used your book. But I'll pay more attention next time.

Your call was a good one, suggesting that we could keep Sapphira Blue for a next goal.

message 544: by Melissa (new)

message 546: by Joanne (last edited Aug 16, 2015 12:56PM) (new)

Joanne I'm thinking it might be simpler to just post everything in the same place (the new team thread). But whatever the captains decide is fine with me.

Joanne Joanne wrote: "I'm thinking it might be simpler to just post everything in the same place (the new team thread). But whatever the captains decide is fine with me."

Actually after reading through some of the other threads, and reading someone talk about how confusing it will be when there are 4 or 8 teams in one thread, I can see how that would be a major problem. That person suggested posting books that work only for attack points in our team thread, and books that work for goals in joint thread (as well as team thread I guess)

Yes, I think that may work once we get used to it.

I'd say post all read books here and then if you know you have read it for a goal that is for the "other" team then post in the combined thread.

message 549: by Shan ~A~ (new)

Shan ~A~ (thebookglutton) | 844 comments For the time being I will go with both, although the last idea has a lot of merit Joanne. Thank you!
