Lol
I know, I did think about it, but because we have Christmas over our summer, we like to sometimes also have "Christmas in July" in Australia which is just an excuse for people to have a big meal and get together in winter really! So I'm not that far off ;)
Hopefully Stacey's book will count for the flying ship goal, or Melissa may find one at the library. That seems to be a goal we're a little stuck on!

I'm in Sydney so we have a temperate climate. This has been our coldest winter in a few years - lows of 3-5c and highs of around 17-20c. Last weekend was amazing back up to 23c, but has gotten cool again this week. Very different to your winter in Canada! I lived in Toronto about 15 years ago for a year and didn't cope well ;)

Boo I don't have to think about it for another 3 months so I'm not going to, lol.

Awesome Stacey!! Thanks :)
I'm going to start The Giver by Lois Lowry

Yay! Welcome Sanz and Lau!
Could you please create a shelf for this challenge and let us know what it is. Also add any books you have read that you started from Aug 2 on that shelf. I'll go snooping and see what you have that can be added to our spreadsheet now anyhow ;)

I'm Sanz from India and I'm a little late to the party but I'm so glad to join your team. I read a book a week, sometimes more, depending on how much time I can spare from my job as a marketing professional.
My shelf for this challenge is Gladiator Games. The only book book I've read since Aug 02 won't work for the challenge as it's under 160 pages. Since I usually read a couple of books at a time, I should get something finished real soon.
Looking forward to getting to know you guys better and hoping to have fun!

I'm really happy to be joining you team.
This is my shelf: gladiators-challenge
I've read 3 books so far:

Neither of this work for any goals right now, neither does the book I'm reading at the moment, onl attack points bu when I finish this one I'll start working on goals asap.
Got through my audiobook today (no work today!) for our book 3 in series goal.
New Goal
Read a book where the character's first name starts with X

on one of the other threads, so I've bought it on my kindle and should finish it easily this weekend, unless someone else has one of their already read books with a character name that starts with X?

I will start a new book today I believe. I will choose randomly one the goals and hopefully It will enter another one if this ones are done already.
No probs Lau.
Stacey and Juliana are currently reading for the other 2, so hopefully they will be able to finish this weekend and we get a goal that we have already read a book for. We don't seem to be having much luck with that at the moment ;)
So I think you're right, just start reading whatever takes your fancy and we will cross our fingers for the next lot of goals!!

My book from a central american author is taking me more time then I anticipated but I'll finish it this weekend. I'll also have a second book not related with any goals so far finished pretty soon too.

Nice to meet new team members- welcome to the team!

I even googled a bit and used listopias on GRs and having a read hard time finding options. Anyone else having better luck?
EDIT: I see Karen found one option. I'll still keep looking in case that one doesn't work out for you Karen.
All good Joanne, thanks for looking. Always helps for if we get the same goal again later!
My husband was out tonight so I'm almost half way through the book. The character is Xenia - I just got lucky that Renee had mentioned it :)
I should be able to finish it tomorrow morning

Yes Lau, we are a few different times zones here. I'm one hour ahead of you. I'm currently living on Norway.

That's right Sonia. Having to remember my Spanish classes. :)

The Courtship of Princess Leia by Dave Wolverton
Finished: 08/07
Pages: 374
Goal: None yet

I can read in Spanish (though I usually don't) and I understand it pretty well. I can't speak it but "portunhol" always comes in handy :)
French and German although I studied them, it's a different story. I believe I could read in french and understand the greater meaning but many words I would have to search (I do have many volumes of manga that I bought cheap in french to tackle), German in a no, no, I can't understand a word.

Really. Child trauma, long story. I don't have any issues when travelling to Spain, but reading is another matter. I always think of trying and force it, but end up changing my mind every single time.

Finished Mercenary Instinct by Ruby Lionsdrake.
Finished 8/7
Pages:248
Goal: Read a book set on an airplane or other flying ship (spaceship in this case)

Give me a sec and I'll update the spreadsheet
