Spreadsheets

- Once all columns of a goal have been filled out a new goal will appear within 5 minutes.

- Do not change existing pages. You may add a new page to your spreadsheet if you want to track additional information.

- Mark books as used in your books list once they are used for a goal.

- Only books read during the current round may be applied towards goals, once the round has ended those books may no longer be used for a goal.

- Once you merge teams, you may use your books for your partner teams goals. List them in your books list and on their goals sheet. Mark them as used.

- If you end up with more than 3 open goals, contact a moderator for help.

Hello Team Maximus!

Together we are now team Vlad and here is our status. We have one open goal without anything assigned yet. Could you let us know if you have anything that will fit that you are currently reading. REMEMBER books read in round 1 can't be used for round 2 goals.

Status Update

Goal 1:
Read a book where a character is a ghost - MELISSA - Sapphire Blue ; or TERI-K - Macbeth

Goal 2:
Read a book which has the main location (setting) as a plane or other flying ship - MELISSA ; Across the Universe

Goal 3:
Read a book where a character visits a farm - INES ; Scarlet

Maximus Goals:
Read a book whose author (first or last) starts with X KARRIE - Quixiaolong book (title tbc)
Read a book that starts with the letter I EMMA - Inspire; or JOANNE - I'm a stranger here myself
Read a book that is ranked 301-400 in bestsellers on book depository ASHLEY - paper Towns (#344) or KAREN - Maze Runner ( #327) or LUCY - Cinder

message 6: by Joanne (new)

Joanne I looked through all my books and a couple of listopias and cannot find any books with authors starting with X.

message 7: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3744 comments Karen - I posted in our other thread by mistake lol

I have the ghost book - Sapphire Blue

Thanks Melissa!

That X sounds hard. I'll also check my library for any audios with X names

I've just had it confirmed that from now on, all the books for our original teams still go on our "book" tab, but if we cover a goal for the other team, we use their "goal" tab. I guess we'll work it out as we go! :o

HI team Vlad, Karen Captain, Juliana Rodrigues Co-Captain,
Karrie Thies, Shan McKinney, Stacey Crudden, Melissa,
â€ Joanne, â€ ±õ²Ôê²õ, â€ Sanz, â€ Lau .

Where are all of you from and please tell us a little about yourself.

I will start lol, I am Marguerite and am from Florida, USA. I am happily married. I love to read fiction, classics, biographies, American Indian history, old west American history, Civil war american history, Vietnam war, scifi/fantasy, religious, odd true facts to name a few.lol smile If it looks interesting, sounds interesting I will read it.lol I have my own library with around 1000 or so books plus a kindle with over a 1000 books on it.

Right now Hubby and I are in the process of buying a new house and are suppose to close on it this coming Thursday and will be moving into the house this coming Saturday ( 22nd of August). SO right now I am busy packing and the thousand and one other things that has to be done before closing.rofl So until we get moved into the new house I won't be doing much reading if any, so please forgive me for this.smile I will be coming in and posting a few words telling everyone way to go on finishing books, etc, since it takes a few seconds to do this.lol smile

Hi Marguerite! Nice to meet you
I am from Sydney, Australia. I work full time, have an (almost) 3 year old and I am about 8 months pregnant. So.... I will be having a baby gladiator during this challenge! :o
I read about 10 books per month and I can't stretch that much unless I choose shorter books for challenges like this. Half of my books are via audio while driving to and from work, cooking etc. I've been reading a lot the last 2 weeks as I've had lots of Drs appointments and some days off work, but I don't always read this fast!!
I tend to read character-driven novels rather than genre, but I do stay away from Horror and I don't enjoy flat out Romance so much. Most of the genres of my books are Fiction, Literary Fiction, Historical Fiction, YA and YA Fantasy.

Finished
Fatty O'Leary's Dinner Party by Alexander McCall Smith
which unfortunately doesn't work for any goals yet, but has a number of food words if we get one of those goals in this round

message 12: by Teri-K (last edited Aug 15, 2015 09:07PM) (new)

Teri-K | 4 comments Hi, I'm from the US; TN - near Memphis. I read lots of historic fiction, classics, non-fiction, about anything but horror.

I've just finished:
Twelfth Night
Partisans
Circus.

I don't have any X books. I can finish Macbeth tomorrow, which also has a ghost, if that would be quicker, since Melissa has the flying book, too. Lucy said she could read Cinder for the bestseller goal. But I'm sure she'll check in at some point and confirm or deny. :)

Ó˦A²õ³ó±ô±ð²âÓ˦ (ascherger12gmailcom) | 1131 comments I have Paper Towns that I could read for the goal: Read a book that is ranked 301-400 in bestsellers on book depository, It's number 344. Unless someone else finishes something else that fits sooner, that's ok too:)

message 14: by Joanne (new)

Joanne Hello, everyone! I'm from Manitoba, Canada. I love to read general/contemporary fiction, YA, historical, sci-fi, fantasy, classics, non-fiction, just about anything really.

I can relate to getting ready for a house purchase, just bought ours last summer. It's a lot of work but so exciting!

The books I'm planning to read next are:
Station Eleven
I'm a Stranger Here Myself: Notes on Returning to America after Twenty Years Away
The Healing
Heartless

Thanks Teri-K, if you finish Macbeth first we will use it for the ghost :)

Looks like the bestseller one will be covered by eiher Lucy, Ashley or I. I've started Maze Runner, but I'm unlikely to finish it for another two days.

Thanks for posting Joanne - Your "I" book can be used for the Maximus goal unless Ines finishes The Invisible Library first

So basically our biggest issue right now is the X goal. I did some searching and I can get a book from the library, but I wouldn't be able to pick it up until next Friday. I'll wait for Eldarwen to get online, but I think it is probably best to use the free boon for that one as we currently have 2 freebies. (one from each team from when they were granted)

Ó˦A²õ³ó±ô±ð²âÓ˦ (ascherger12gmailcom) | 1131 comments I'm from the U.S. (Ohio). I typically like to read YA, horror, thriller, suspense books, but I'm open to anything as long as the story keeps me interested. I tend to get bored with romance and historical fiction, but I give those a shot every now and then. I'm an emergency room nurse, so I don't get much time to read at work. I tend to read about 5-8 books a month depending on how long they are; half audio and half kindle. I don't ready many physical books unless there's something I really want to read that isn't available as an e-book.

@ Marguerite, if I forgot to say earlier, congrats on the new house. We just became first time home owners in April. How exciting!

@ Karen, congrats on your future bundle of joy! I bet your 3 year old is excited to have a baby brother or sister:)

For the most part we are getting settled. Still have some boxes in the garage to unpack yet. Deciding where to put old furniture in a new place was the hardest. I still don't have a spot for a few pieces;)

Got a question. lol smile

1-- Will we be having all the books all of us read put on just one team spreadsheet or will they be posted to the old/original spreadsheets, as in two seperate spreadsheets? As in both old spreadsheets being now put onto just one spreadsheet? Hope this makes sense.rofl lol smile

message 35: by Kay Kay (new)

Kay Kay | 1794 comments I can do the X. I found an author Qiu Xiaolong who writes mysteries set in China. The detective loves Chinese Poetry. I kind of think I might have red one of these before. I got it from the library and will start it now.

it's a fair question and one I confirmed with mod Kelly today.

So we kep our serparate team spreadsheets. The only difference is that if a Maximus member completes a Varro goal (for example) then the Maximus "book" tab is updated, and the Varro "goal" tab is updated for that book. Hope that makes sense!!

Got another question.rofl

1-- When it comes to goals do we have one set of goals to do now or do we all have the same goals. As in team Vlad goals or do Varro have their goals to meet and Maximus have our own goals to meet?smile

No worries :)
It is all the one set now. So we have 6 goals between all of us open at the one time. That is because although our spreadsheets are seperate, our total points are combined as "Team Vlad" for round 2

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Hello all!!

So nice to see this thread already full with interactions!!

I'm a brazilian girl living in Oslo, Norway. I'm married but no children yet.
I can read pretty much everything, if the book sounds interesting, but this last couple of years I'm gravitating more to fantasy, sci-fi. Normally I read one book per week, but some months I can manage to finish up to 8 books, it all depends on how short, fast pacing and engaging the books are.

I'll finish Armada today, but I'm not sure what I'll pick after that.

KAREN!!! :-DDDDD

*cough* I mean, hello team Varro! :-)

For the I goal, Emma started reading Inspire (The Muse, #1) by Cora Carmack so either with her or with Ines reading The Invisible Library (The Invisible Library #1) by Genevieve Cogman first, we've got that goal covered as well.

Hooray Karrie for the X book!

So basically we've got all goals covered so far by at least one book - awesome!

So to tell you a little about myself, I'm from tiny Luxembourg (the country in Europe, not the city in the US) and I read a large variety of books, though it always, always pulls me back to fantasy and that's what I read the most. Non-fiction is what I dislike the most and I rarely read anything along those lines.

Nutshell, I know but.. I never know what to write and.. meh ;-)

So much going on in this thread already which is nice to see.

I'm another Aussie girl, but from Canberra. I live with my partner and we just bought and moved into our first house together. We don't have any kids yet, unless you count our three fur babies.

I will pretty much read anything, although I have been reading more romance of late.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know you all in round 2 and like Eldarwen mentioned I am read Inspire so it looks like we may have a couple of I books which will work out well if that goal gets a repeat this round :)
