You might try J.D. Robb's Naked in Death. It's set in 2050 or something. It's a romance and police procedural with a non-traditional romance heroine....she's very tough. The series is a lot of fun to read if you need a break from literature.

message 492: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly I am struggling with the book of poetry. I really don't like poetry. I want to try to read one of everything on this list but this is my wall. Unless it's "'Twas The Night Before Christmas", I'm not interested. Suggestions please?

message 493: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Question? How are you all resolving the dilemma of reading a book that can be categorized as more than one subject? Some of them, because of my lack of interest in a particular subject, I have counted one book as 2 subjects to be done but occasionally there is a book that can be a couple of them. I am curious about your process to resolve this issue.

I like individual poems and have many favorites but I don't really have an interest in a whole book of poems. So what I have decided to do is find a short book of poems and read one or two of the poems a week. Kinda like reading a daily devotional like my friend does but I have no interest in either.

You might Google 'poetry for people who don't like poetry'. I found some good suggestions and my solution that way. Good luck.

Serena.. Sery-ously? (serenacolouroutsidethelines) | 23 comments Lynn! You are so kind thanks! I'll check it out!

Kimberly: you could give a try to Shakespeare's sonnets! If someone is able to read in italian (I highly doubt it, but one never knows!), Cento poesie d'amore a Ladyhawke is really beautiful!!!

Have you read Shel Silverstein? His poems are funny and light-hearted. Or, for something really short, Ride a Purple Pelican by Jack Prelutsky is a children's book of poetry and is both short (only 64 pages including illustrations) and fun.
