Introduce Yourself

About 8 months ago I joined a book club of 7 women including myself. We read a variety, but always stay tuned to Canadian authors and award winners. I'm always itching for more though, and can't wait for further discussion on here!
Welcome Ashley!! This group is all about Canadian authors!! Be sure to check out our Canada Reads thread, Spine Crackers and it is not too late to join BINGO if you are interested!

I am familiar with the popular Canadian authors (Atwood, Munro, Yann Martel, Michel Tremblay, Louise Penny, etc.). I hope to get more exposure to the lesser known authors that I might not hear about from the media in this group.
Welcome Peter!
You may enjoy our spine crackers thread where we talk about the books we are reading!

(I have to comment again to note that my introduction message was message number #666, lol! )

Here is the self promo thread which is for members who participate in the Canadian content discussions: /topic/show/...

Welcome Laura!! you will find a lot of kindred book spirits here. We are currently doing a monthly read of VenCo by Cheri Dimaline and there is a thread for it. You might also like the book bingo or the Friday Spine Crackers thread but beware, it I does just promote more book buying as readers share their reads!

I am not Canadian, but have always had a “thing for CanLit, Canadian history, and Canadiana generally.
Hi all - friendly reminder that this group is for discussing CanLit and not self-promotion.
if authors want to join and participate in the regular discussion, we are happy to hear about your writing and there is a specific thread for that.
if it is pure self-promotion, posts will be deleted as spam.
thanks for understanding.

I’m Sarah, from Kingston, Ontario. I’ve been an avid reader my whole life and particularly enjoy fiction, historical fiction, mysteries, thrillers and memoirs. Love new recommendations and think I’ve come to the right place! I’ve got two small kiddos so a lot of my reading is done via audiobook while multi tasking right now, so any recs particularly well narrated are appreciated. Thanks for sharing the group Allison!

I'm an avid reader and proud to say that I've published two books. I started off writing a book for our first granddaughter (about horses). It was so well received, I wrote a sequel to it for our second granddaughter. When I'm long gone, at least the girls and future generations will have something to remember me by.
I'm not a spring chicken, but I know I have a few years left in me to keep writing. I'm on my third book now, but it's coming along slowly.
Anyway, I'm happy to be a member of this group. Thanks.
Welcome Anne - I hope you enjoy chatting about can Lit with us. There is a thread of promoting your own work for members who participate in discussions. You are right on time for BINGO 2024 should you be interested.

Thank you, Susan, how does Bingo work?
Hi Ann - there is a bingo 2024 thread and we work to read a book from each square (Canadian authors). Those who fill the card get to choose a square for the next year.
Hi Del - welcome but please note that this is not the place for self-promotion. if you wish to actively participate in our group, you can self promote in our promotion thread. I am deleting your post above and you are welcome to introduce yourself if you are interested in participating in our group. thanks!

Welcome!! Feel
Free to check out our spine crackers and Canada reads threads which are most active these days.

I’m Katy, and although I joined this group quite some time ago, I never took the time to introduce myself or participate in your discussions.despite that I often have read and followed the various threads. …And by the way, thank you for all the great book titles that you post.
I live in Southern Ontario, in fact our community of Colchester is the southernmost settlement on mainland Canada, and sits on the shore of Lake Erie. Currently I am a member of two local book clubs, both of which read a very wide variety of books. It is just fun to get together and talk books over a great glass of wine.
I like to read memoirs, historical fiction, a good thriller now and then, non-fiction, and poetry. Also I enjoy political and cultural topics, whether in a form of fiction or non-fiction. And it goes without saying that I love to read Canadiana of just about any sort. I can’t say I have a favourite author as there are too many to choose from, and even more that I have not yet experienced.
Anyway I look forward to joining in the conversations with all of you as I love to hear differing perspectives on many topics.
My apologies for being so long winded! But I must admit…it may happen again!
