I'm in a heavy challenge in another group, but can probably do the Captain stuff--I think its mostly just posting once a week and rolling, right? But if anyone else wants to do it--have at it.
Tara, did you hear back from Ceren?

I don't mind to be captain if you'd prefer not to Stacey.
Five Alive works for me.

Spot: 7
Options: #7 in series OR Author M.
Tara Seven Up Series #7 Review
~Krystal The Miseducation of Cameron Post Author M Review
Stacey Defying the Odds Author M Review
Lindsay IL Eternal Night Author M Review
Trea Anna's Gift Author M Review

Ok, our first roll was a 7.
So your choice this week is either a series #7 or the alternate: Author M (per instructions above - first, middle or last initial works)
Have fun picking out your books ... I'm headed to bed and will decide in the morning what I'll be reading!
Happy reading!

This is the book I'm picking for this roll. It fits multiple challenge slots for me (yay!)

I'll be taking the Alternate option and reading Anna's Gift by Emma Miller this week.

Task: Series Book #7 or Book that has an Author name starting with M (First, Middle, or Last)
Task Chosen: Author name starting with M (First, Middle, or Last)
Book Read:

Page Count: 221 pages
Dates Read: 7/16/16
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
This book was exactly what I needed when I read it! It was well written and engrossing. Anna was a very easy to identify with character, even with her all consuming self doubt! I liked Samuel for Anna, he appreciated her beauty, both inner and outer, even when she herself doubted her outer beauty next to her sisters or when being teased. They were an unlikely couple, with a significant age difference, yet they didn't let that or the disapproval of others stop them. My main complaint with this book was that it had both an abrupt ending and a few abrupt "jumps" forward, that made the story a bit disjointed. All in all, it was a great read!

Team 5, Week 1. Space 7
Book:

Task: Author who has a name starting with M."
Thanks, Stacey! I've read your choice for this roll, and I really enjoyed it! I hope you like it too!

Week 1:
Spot: 7 (or Alternative --Author M)
Book:

Qualification: Author Last Name begins with M
Finished: 7/16
Rating & Review: 4 stars
This was actually a re-read for me and the first time around I gave it 3 stars. But since I'm lazy and didn't write an actual review, I don't know why since this time I gave it 4. It's a lovely, easy reading contemporary romance that has likeable and engaging characters that have a few issues to overcome. The h has worked herself out of an abusive relationship and is working hard to get back to being independent and comfortable in her skin. The H is (as they usually are) a bit brooding, and somewhat threatening to everyone except the h. They have good banter, some pretty hot sexy times and of course a HEA. I never got around to book 2 the first time, but I'll be getting to it for sure this time.

Thanks - great job, Trea & Stacey!! Got you all linked up! I don't get much reading time on the weekend, so I'm not very far into my book yet - but I don't work Monday or Tuesday so I'll get some good reading time in during my daughter's nap time!

Task: Author ~ M
Book:

Completed: 7/20/16
Rating & Review: 4 stars ~ Pretty decent for being free on iBooks! I liked the concept of gods/immortals living among us, their powers almost extinguished after centuries of not having mortal worshipers. It was a bit difficult to have chapters alternating POV's between all 6 character's and the book not being written in first person. That was a bit weird to me. Also there were several type-o's and errors in my edition so that kind of bugged me. But otherwise I liked the premise and the characters and I would read more if this was a series!

Seven Up by Janet Evanovich
Series #7
Pages - 337
Finished - 7/20/16
Rating - 4 stars
Review: Oh, Stephanie Plum ... how you always find yourself in such trouble! In this particular book, she's tasked with finding old man Eddie DeChooch. Easy peasy - right? No. Nothing is ever easy with Stephanie Plum. Between her trying to find old Eddie, her relationship with Joe, her sister moving back home from California, her grandmother getting kidnapped and then there's Ranger ... yeah, her life is anything but normal.
But I like it. I find these books to be fun, easy, light reading. They're mindless and hilarious. The ending leaves the reader with an exciting moment that has me wanting to get my hands on book #8 ASAP. Definitely a cute, fun book (and series) to try if you're living in the dark ages (like me, obviously) and haven't read these before.

Book : The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth
How it fits : Author M
Rating and Review: 4 stars. This book had me interested from the first line and sentence. It's about a girl named Cameron Post who is orphaned when her parents die in a car accident and she was kissing girls just before that so she feels very guilty. She then gets taken care of by her ultra conservative aunt and grandmother who move in with her and take care of her but don't agree with homosexuality. All in all I believe this is a great book for younger readers to learn how to cope with the coming of age issues they may face today and learning how to be who you are.

You can also pick book #13 in a series as well...I've asked in the discussion thread to confirm, but it used to be that you could do that.

Yup, Ezi did confirm that, specifically saying "Yes. You could read 1,3 or 13th in that series. Absolutely go for the higher number if you could". Of course, it is a moot point for me, since I've already read the 13th books in both of the series I mentioned in my question, but it would work for Stephanie Plum, which I forgot to mention, and plus, since I'm on 18 and 19 for In Death, it could also work for next week's roll possibly! Better to double check, you know? Especially since the rules didn't specifically state it.
Here's a link to Ezi's comment in the Discussion thread: Ezi's Answer.

Review:
DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH NET GALLEY IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!
I'm sorry to say it, but I hated this book! The blurb says it's a "Wall Street meets the Sons of Anarchy" type of book, but that couldn't be further from the truth! It definitely has the Wall Street vibe, but it's mixed more with War of the Roses and The Godfather than anything else.
The Brandon family is full of drama, deception, and backstabbing. This made it difficult to connect with any of the family members, let alone care about them. Shane was supposed to be the good one, the one with a moral compass, and yet he was a complete and total jerk when it came to Emily, coming off as a possessive and controlling a-hole more so than anything else.
Emily was a bit of a mouse of a heroine. She's supposed to be this strong woman, it seemed, and yet she submitted to practically everything Shane wanted from her. She also has this deep, dark secret, that I believe is tied to the events of the first chapter, but there's so much vague innuendos and deception that it was hard to tell.
One of the biggest problems I had with this book was the fact that nothing is well explained. After reading it, we're left with more questions than answers, especially with a cliffhanger ending. It read more like a serial than an actual full length novel! Considering how much I hate serials and cliffhangers, this was not a good way to leave things for me.
This was my first introduction to the author and her work, but if this is indicative of her writing style, I will be avoiding her work in the future. As it is, I definitely would not recommend this book to others, and won't be continuing the series!

Yup! In the discussion thread it says "✸Standalone books can be used for a 1 or a 0". Hope that helps!
