Levels of Play:
Summer days drifting away :1 to 5 Books

Summer fling, don't mean a thing :11 to 15 Books
Summer heat, boy and girl meet :16 to 20 Books
Summer dreams ripped at the seams :21 to 25 Books
Oh, those summer nights! :26+ books

Rules & How to:
Follow the directions below to create your own summer romance
 All the options allow Spell-It-Outs.

1. Summer Location
Choose the perfect location for your romance.
Read a book that is set in that location, or from a local author. Or use book covers or titles.
Examples:
1. Like Water for Chocolate for Mexico
2. +

2. Summer Lovers
Who's going to live a Summer Romance? Do you have a favorite book couple? Or some favorite characters that you want to see together? Or do you prefer to create your ideal couple? Tell us who (or how) your Summer Lovers will be using one of the two options:
Option 1: Choose/Match your Favorite Book Couple:Read books with a favorite couple. Or, create your own favorite couple reading corresponding books.

Examples:
1. Magic Rises (Kate Daniels, #6) by Ilona Andrews - Kate & Curran
2. Stars & Stripes (Cut & Run, #6) by Abigail Roux - Ty & Zane
3. Deadly Descendant (Nikki Glass, #2) by Jenna Black & Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne - Nikki & Atticus

Option 2: Create your Summer Lovers: Read books that allow to create your ideal couple - from name, to eye color, to tattoos, or how tall they are... your choice.

Examples:
1. Using book Covers:The Fallen Star (Fallen Star, #1) by Jessica SorensenBlood Lines (World of the Lupi, #3) by Eileen WilksThe Ghost and the Graveyard (Knight Games, #1) by Genevieve Jack
2. Author's name: The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
3. Character's name: Gemma from Stolen: A Letter to My Captor
4. Using Words in the title:The Girl with the Silver Eyes
5. Using characteristics from the books:Tall, broad shoulders - Cut & Run
6. Spell-it-out:T.A.L.L, D.A.R.K & D.A.N.G.E.R.O.U.S.

3. How they met
Was it love at first sight? Did they hate each other? Or did they just tripped over each others feet?
Read a book that has one of the situations of their first encounter. Or use Book Covers or Titles.
Example:
The Dead Girls' Dance

4. First Date
How was their first date? Magical? Dinner and a movie? A long walk on the beach? Time to let us know.
Step 1:Using book titles, create a story or a paragraph telling the perfect first date for your summer romance.

Step 2:Read the books used on step 1.

Example:
When All the World Sleeps the Dark Lover knocks on her window. After the first Shock of surprise, she quietly slips down the balcony to meet him. Without a word they walk down The Beach Road to meet their goal: a blanket near the Fire and The Picnic Basket. They sit there, Looking at the Stars and waiting for the Sunrise. It was Simple Perfection.

5. Summer Days & Nights
The summer romance days are spend playing at the beach, playing with friends, hiking, canoeing, having fun together, while the nights are spend around a fire or watching the stars, or just being romantic. Every single summer romance has at least a sunrise or sunset watching. Read two books, one for your summer days and other for the summer nights.
Examples:
Beach Party & Around the Peat-Fire

6. How hot was the romance?
Read a book that represents the "temperature" of the romance. From a young adult romance - sweet and innocent... to a more steamier one. Or opt for the spell-it-out version, with W.A.R.M. or S.I.Z.Z.L.I.N.G. for example.

7. Every couple needs a song
Tell us the song of your Summer Romance. Read books that relate to it - words in title or in book - or use the spell-it-out option.
Example:
Song: "When You Say Nothing at All"
book: Don't Breathe a Word

8. Summer Romance Movie
The inspiration for this challenge was the song Summer Nights from the movie Grease. Choose your favorite summer movie and read books that fit. Instructions are on message #2

9. Favorite Memories
When you think of your summer romance which memories you treasure best? Read books which cover depicts your favorite memories.
Example:
Sunrise by Rosie Thomas Eve (Eve, #1) by Anna Carey

10. Will you write?
Most Summer Romances come to an end. Choose books that have words meaning "end" or "good bye" in the title. or that have letters or other type of messages on the cover.
Examples:
1.The Ocean at the End of the Lane
2.Don't Kiss Them Good-bye
3.Words by Ginny L. Yttrup

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Welcome to the challenge Julianne & Anita :)

Yes, the song was really inspiring for this challenge. It tastes like summer.
The whole song set the pace: the tell me more, tell me more and Danny and Sandy telling about the summer romance, how they met, their date, Danny's bragging, the end... So the verses becoming the levels was a natural step... It was a fun challenge to create!

Summer days drifting away
To, uh oh, those summer nights...

*I wanted to be Pink Lady when I grow up :P*

BTW is there a rule that summer movie needs to make you cry? Some of this titles got me started just by reading it. :P

Levels of Play:

Summer heat, boy and girl meet :16 to 20 Books

1. Summer Location
Choose the perfect location for your romance.
Read a book that is set in that location, or from a local author. Or use book covers or titles.
16 Lighthouse Road by Debbie Macomber

Duke of Midnight (Maiden Lane, #6) by Elizabeth Hoyt - Maximus Batten and Artemis Greaves

3. How they met
Was it love at first sight? Did they hate each other? Or did they just tripped over each others feet?
Read a book that has one of the situations of their first encounter. Or use Book Covers or Titles.
To Win Her Heart by Karen Witemeyer

One Dance with a Duke (Stud Club, #1) by Tessa Dare Hot

7. Every couple needs a song
Tell us the song of your Summer Romance. Read books that relate to it - words in title or in book - or use the spell-it-out option.
Example:
Song: "When You Say Nothing at All"
book: Don't Breathe a Word

8. Summer Romance Movie
The inspiration for this challenge was the song Summer Nights from the movie Grease. Choose your favorite summer movie and read books that fit. Instructions are on message #2

9. Favorite Memories
When you think of your summer romance which memories you treasure best? Read books which cover depicts your favorite memories.
Sweet Tea and Secrets by Nancy Naigle Finding Perfect (Fool's Gold, #3) by Susan Mallery

10. Will you write?
Most Summer Romances come to an end. Choose books that have words meaning "end" or "good bye" in the title. or that have letters or other type of messages on the cover.
