What lies at heart;
I've got a pocketful of poetry
I've got a head full of songs,
a heart with wings
you couldn't tie me down to anything
and that's enough for me.

2. Get a temporary job ?
description

Jingle is now a waitress at a vegetarian restaurant! I love it because it's nearby, pays decently and while I'm still rather awkward, the people are nice. The dynamics are quite entertaining; the manager reminds me of a mother, the young girl and guy chef bicker like lovers although they aren't, and the head chef reminds me of a slightly disgruntled uncle. They call me "СÃà (little sister)" because of my age and stature, and I mostly do everything in between¡ªfood prep, serving, dishes...You say it, I've probably done it. My hands are cracked and rough from all the work I've been doing, but I'm happy. I took the job knowing this would be tiring, and I've been learning a lot about the work that goes into food businesses.

6. Donate blood ?
description

Rather funny but disappointing update from me. I've always grown up aspiring to donate blood; my father's done it since I was a child. With his current blood condition, he isn't suitable to donate anymore and since I have the same blood type I was hoping to take his place. I planned to go on the day of my birthday when I was finally old enough to donate and it was this thing I was looking forward to.

Long story short, I went in late December (2016) but found out I apparently didn't even have veins to donate?? The nurse couldn't detect any on my right arm and only a teensy one on my left. She told me to try again in six months and lift heavier things... :P So well, that's one thing I can't cross off. I won't give up though. Only so little people donate blood and I want to be able to make a difference, however small.

Aww thanks (and hi) Hallie! Unfortunately until I do enough dishes or lift, those veins may take a while to cooperate yet :P I think if you're uncomfortable with needles you shouldn't force yourself, but I'd highly encourage donating blood if you decide to :) I myself am terrified but when I think about it, some discomfort on a donor's part could save a life as you said!

7. Volunteer work with kids ?
Started teaching a new class of 22 six-year-olds yesterday. Immediately, I've noticed quite a few things:

1. The seven year olds I taught last year needed a big sister and listening ear. The six year olds this year need hugs and a lot more encouragement. We had a girl who cried, a boy too scared to sit with the class, and overall a totally different method was required to teach.
2. I'm not sure if it's a new year, but they still seem a little reluctant to come and less chatty. That's gonna change if I can help it!
3. While less talkative, I have to admit they are way more manageable which is a relief for such a large class.
4. I'm going to have to make storytelling much simpler so they can keep up.

description

But oh my goodness, they are so small and adorable! They come trotting in still needing to hold hands for reassurance, and form little "trains" to keep in line. I'm actually allowed to cuddle them because a lot of them are fidgety and need the older kids/assistant teachers to comfort them.

We have quite the menagerie, but describing each one would probably bore everyone except myself. And the last thing I have to mention: one of the children made me a necklace out of connectable ringlets to wear. And my old kids have grown so much and still wave excitedly at seeing me. If that doesn't melt my heart I don't know what will.

3. Learn sign language (3 words a day) ?
Up to the letter S in the alphabet! Constantly mixing up F.

Ribs - Lorde

We can talk it so good
We can make it so divine
We can talk it good
How you wish it would be all the time

This dream isn't feeling sweet
We're reeling through the midnight streets
And I've never felt more alone
It feels so scary, getting old

I want 'em back
The minds we had
How all the thoughts
Moved 'round our heads
I want 'em back
The minds we had
It's not enough to feel the lack
I want 'em back, I want 'em back, I want 'em

You're the only friend I need
Sharing beds like little kids
Laughing 'til our ribs get tough
But that will never be enough

7. Volunteer work with kids ?
Good news, I think the kids were just new to the place :) It's been a few weeks and they are now much more at home. I'm starting to learn how to handle them as well.. Most of the kids are little angels, cooperating easily. Some, however, are what I term affectionately "angsty emo kids". One lies face down on the floor and won't do anything, while the other is so shy he refuses to sit with the others. At first glance, they just seem uncooperative, but their situations are actually quite different. The cranky one is the way he is because he doesn't want to be here (I'm gonna change that). The shy one is just afraid and can be coaxed with encouragement.

More good news though: I got an internship at a kindergarten.

*squeals* I start Monday.

I almost cried last night because a difficult student couldn't see where I was coming from, the teachers went MIA and left the intern me in charge of ten four-year-olds, and I was struggling to keep up because I'd been carted to whichever class they saw fit, yet each one had different routines they didn't bother to let me know. But then I come back to the same class today and they say the craziest things:

Nap Time

Ivies: 4-year-olds

Sofia: *to other students who haven't gotten ready* Lie down! Lie down! I blanket you!

Me: *to Harry* Are you gonna rip up your shirt this time?

Harry: *shakes head*

Me: Good! Thank god I never thought I'd worry about this

Cherry: LAST TIME, I WAS A PRINCESS IN MY ROOM. I SAID LET IT GO. I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND ME NOW.

Nathan: I am Superman

Cherry: I am Captain America

Me: *nods in all seriousness* Yes, now the two superheroes have to sleep

-

I think I laughed my ass off later.

Why I had a bad day:

1. Sleep deprivation
2. Getting sick for the second time because of a virus that's been spreading
3. Losing my voice because of 2. and having to keep calling after/singing with the kids
4. N1s going through their inevitable "MINE" stage
5. Getting hit on the back by Anton (and here's what gets me, it's purely because he wants to test my limit)
6. A block tower dropped over my hand because Evie kept trying to cart her things around
7. Dexter. Throwing. Tantrums. When. He. Was. The. One. Who. Was. Snatching. Toys.
8. Accidentally eating chicken (when I've been vegetarian for years now).

Why I will keep trying:

1. I am inevitably still flawed and inexperienced as much as they are. I cannot blame them when I know they are growing, as much as I am trying to as a person.
2. The sore throat I have isn't as bad as the first round's.
3. I've seen Anton bloom when complimented and encouraged. He also knows every kids' belongings and loves to hand it to them.
4. Evie was only carting her things around because she wanted to show it to me-
5. - as do the other kids which makes me feel honored.
6. Dexter doesn't say "crocodie" instead of "crocodile" anymore. He can also name every vehicle in the vocab list.
7. I've not thought once that I'd rather be anywhere else, and I've been on a clean streak for almost a month.
8. When they smile or want to sit next to me or talk my heart melts. I'm tired now but I'll be better tomorrow.

Kay
He uses my words like
a double-edged sword:
to strike when he simmers;
to laugh when he's bored.

One second my concern
is so overdue
the next, I'm stifling
the air with my rue.

Somewhere, there's a part
that would hurt so not he,
The little boy who would always
Save me sweets.

But it's exactly this love
That makes me push and swear¡ª
Because it hurts even more
When he says "You don't care."

Suddenly realising why I lost weight when I was interning at the kindergarten. While I was supposed to have lunch I:

?¡ª Did damage control for a conflict between two kids that were hitting each other's pieces of paper (let me not go into details and just say I need When I'm Feeling Angry asap)
?¡ª Used the one bite rule on three separate kids telling me they didn't like bamboo shoot, mushroom etc.
?¡ª Held 5000 other simultaneous conversations
?¡ª *just when I took a bite* Sweet quiet Amber comes to stand in front of my desk and won't tell me if she wants something, to play, or to talk
?¡ª Chased after two boys because they kept going to the play corner even when they weren't done eating
?¡ª Began conversation with Amber because she just wanted company (and my heart was melting)
?¡ª Opened two packs of cookies and got crumbed (again, let's not go into details)

And by the time I got to the end of it, I hadn't finished a quarter of my lunch but was so full I felt sick taking more bites. Man I love these children but they can be a crazy bunch xP

Omg you feel me Alia *wipes tears of joy* xP It feels like we were taught to stop, drop and roll not during a fire but when dealing with them! (I think I literally did this tbh) I'm glad you could pop in despite your hiatus :) Is your camp an adventure camp?

Oh man how old were those boys? :( Hope you weren't badly hurt! Hahaha it's a good thing it's only indoors. I think Corvus dealing with them would definitely interesting, to say the least xP
