Cheryl Olson (girlsmama) | 694 comments Ok Everyone and this month's additional group read is Princess Ever After (Royal Wedding, #2) by Rachel Hauck Princess Ever After by Rachel Hauck. This read goes until the 14th of June.
Here is the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ summary for Princess Ever After-

Regina Beswick never dreamed of faraway places. She’s happy with her life as a classic car mechanic and owner of a restoration shop.

But an unexpected visitor and the discovery of a fairytale, drawn by her great-grandma, causes Regina to wonder if she might be destined for something more.

Tanner Burkhardt, Minister of Culture for the Grand Duchy of Hessenberg, must convince the strong-willed Southerner, Miss Beswick, that she is his country’s long-lost princess. Failure could destroy his reputation and change his nation forever.

As Regina and Tanner face the challenges before them, neither are prepared for love to invade their hearts and change every thing they believe about themselves.

However, when a royal opponent nearly destroys Regina’s future, she must lean into God and trust He has sovereignly brought her to her true and final destiny.

Kalena (bookt2) | 135 comments I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but I am not particularly inclined to cars. It may give me some insight into my boys though. :) Reggie is definitely feisty so far!

Cheryl Olson (girlsmama) | 694 comments I'm about 70% into it and the car stuff gets less and less. :)

Cheryl Olson (girlsmama) | 694 comments She was a different sort of character I agree Juli, but very likable. What did you all think of Tanner?

message 14: by Julianna (new)

Julianna | 15 comments I liked Tanner too @Cheryl, he was a complex character I enjoyed that he seemed real.

message 15: by Loraine (new)

Loraine (librarydiva) | 4413 comments I agree that Tanner was very complex and felt his conflict in serving his ruler and at the same time loving Regina.

message 16: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Olson (girlsmama) | 694 comments I would have loved a few more "dad" scenes for Tanner and his girls, taking in 2 pre-teen girls had to be a huge change for him, that would have been fun or a scene with Reggie getting "princess lessons" haha!

message 17: by Julianna (new)

Julianna | 15 comments Those scenes would've definitely been fun!! More scenes with Reggie and the Girls and in the girls point of view though it might be too much it still would've been great!

message 18: by Caitlyn (new)

Caitlyn Santi | 84 comments I agree Cheryl, that would have been so fun!

message 19: by Caitlyn (new)

Caitlyn Santi | 84 comments I loved how Regina's singing calmed the storm of confrontations, not once but twice. Personally I thought that was brilliant! :)

That would have definitely added to the book Cheryl!

message 21: by Kalena (new)

Kalena (bookt2) | 135 comments This reminds me a lot of Princess Diaries. Anyone else?

message 22: by Caitlyn (new)

Caitlyn Santi | 84 comments Kalena, it absolutely reminds me of The Princess Diaries. I've never read those books but the movies are both on my list of favorite movies! :)

message 23: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Olson (girlsmama) | 694 comments Yep me too, although I never read the books either, just the movies. :)

message 24: by Loraine (new)

Loraine (librarydiva) | 4413 comments Yes - I absolutely thought of Princess Diaries as I was reading this.

Julie Andrews is still amazing. :)

message 26: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I haven't read this book, but I just wanted to pop in and say that I loved The Princess Diaries :) They were my favourite books when I was a preteen. Even if I didn't like the later books in the series so much (probably because I was too old for them when they released) I kept reading because I wanted to find out how they ended. I think I read the final book in my first year of university? The films are super sweet as well. I may have to check this series out now :)

You don't have to read the first book before this one, but I would start with it. Personally I liked Once Upon a Prince (Royal Wedding, #1) by Rachel Hauck a lot better, but Rachel Hauck writes fun, light fiction that is worth checking out.

I just finished Princess Ever After. While I enjoyed it, I agree with Kalena, Once Upon a Prince was much stronger.

Tanner was the highlight of the book for me. Reggie was a bit harder to connect with. Overall, a fun read.
