Ah, thank you Mary Pat! :) I was thinking and all too recently that I should try to get into buddy reads more. It would actually line up for me pretty well as I was planning on reading it soon right after I finish A Tale of Two Cities and pick up something else I didn't have a good time with earlier this year that I wanted to try again. I can't promise I'll say that much because I'm in work and I tend to read quickly even if The Final Empire is really big, haha! But no, I'll definitely drop in from time to time. Thanks again! :)

Candiss (tantara) | 996 comments I still want to complete several yearly challenges.

From Fiction to Reality - Read: 9/10
Around the World in Books - Read: 8/12
The Every Year Challenge - Read: 15/22
The Listopia Challenge - Read: 18/30
The TBR Randomizer Challenge - Read: 2/3

Because of nit-picky cross-referencing, I can get most of the way to finished on each of these by reading under a dozen books; then I need to choose a few more that fill in the gaps.

It's probably just out of reach for me with my current schedule and reading speed, but I'll try!

1. The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett
2. The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake - Aimee Bender
3. A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay
4. As She Climbed across the Table by Jonathan Lethem
5. Strangers on a Train - Patricia Highsmith
6. Lamb by Christopher Moore
7. Echoes from the Macabre: Selected Stories by Daphne du Maurier
8. Ransom by David Malouf
9. The Wall by Marlen Haushofer
10. Dune by Frank Herbert (re-read)

message 23: by Emily (last edited Oct 27, 2016 04:34PM) (new)

Emily (emilyesears) | 604 comments My goal is 0/23.

I need a lot of books if I want to finish ALL of the challenges I signed up for, but this is pretty par for the course: I get really excited about challenges in January and through the year my care level drops significantly until I'm just reading whatever I want without regard to challenges.

I have 21 challenge spaces to fill, but I could double a lot of them up.

I need 4 books for I Spy:

5. Around the World in 80 Days The WORLD is a Wedding
20. Where the Red Fern Grows The Thoughts and Happenings of WilfRED Price, Purveyor of Superior Funerals
22. Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't STOP Talking
25. The Good Earth So GOOD They Can't Ignore You: Why Skills Trump Passion in the Quest for Work You Love

1 book for Modern Mrs. Darcy:

A book chosen for you by your spouse, partner, sibling, child, or BFF:

9 books for the Every Year Challenge:

1990 Animal Dreams
1991 ??
1992 ??
1993 The Virgin Suicides
1994 The Book of American Diaries
1996 Jane and the Unpleasantness at Scargrave Manor
2003 A Guide to Prayer for All Who Seek God
2004 Gilead
2007 Eden's Outcasts: The Story of Louisa May Alcott and Her Father

7 books needed for the Character Challenge:

O--DONE
S-- DONE
U--
V--
X--
Y--
Z--

My overall goal is 100 books, and I have read 77 so far. So I need 23 books total. My overall goal is the one I really care about completing, so I will definitely read 23 books, but whether they meet any of the challenge prompts remains to be seen.

Count me in! Below is a summary of what I need to finish my annual challenges. It adds up to 41 books but I won't need that many as one book will count towards more than one challenge. I don't like to pick my books too far ahead so I am going to set a goal of 25 and I will increase it if necessary.

1 - Every Year
3 - Listopia
3 - World
5 - I Spy
5 - Fiction to Reality
7 - Randomizer
8 - Recommended
8 - Choice Awards
8 - Mrs. Darcy

10,188 Pages

14 books to finish challenge
