Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3766 comments You can add me to the Ulysses buddy read. I just downloaded the ebook from the library. I will give it a try! You all are so motivating. 😀

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments So tempting , but soooo Intimidating . I dropped Les Miserables as my intimidating read and decided to go the "scares me" route and do a horror novel ( Horrorstor) because i'm so behind in the challenge. But part of me really wants to try it. Maybe I'll grab a copy and see if I can keep up. I'm kind of undecided. It just sounds more fun to do it with a group.

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3766 comments That’s what I was thinking too, Tracy! Otherwise, I’ll probably never read it.

´¡²Ô»å°ùá²õ Bognár | 7 comments Dear fellow readers,

This is something a little different from the format of this topic, but since I'm looking for a reading buddy, I think it belongs here.

I'm looking to step up my reading game and to start unlocking a greater level of information and fulfillment via the magic of books which is why I'm taking the 52 book challenge in 2019. However, I realize that I am lacking motivation to keep going for a whole year. Therefore, I'd like to have someone join me in 2019 to read a book each week and to discuss them. I am perfectly open to read with anyone who has the time and determination to show up each week (I was thinking about 1 hour, but we can discuss the details). For me the type of the books is not an issue, I am happy to listen to any sort of stories, but to help you decide if you'd be interested in listening to me talking for a year, let me give you a brief introduction about myself and the books I am planning to read.

Introduction

I am 25 years old and I'm working for an international non-profit in the field of finances. However, a few months ago I've realized that my passion lies with the world of data, so I've been planning my pivot. It appears it will still be a long journey before I'd make the change but I'm eagerly learning about this exciting new area.
But why do I think reading is important? Well, my first encounter with the hidden world of books took place in secondary school. I got accepted in 6 year long course where our headmistress was teaching grammar and literature. She was the one who showed me just how much deeper can books let you go if you listen to the words of the author. I was fortunate enough to uncover the riches of Hungarian literature and ever since then reading was no longer a chore but a chance to connect with others. But lately I have neglected that passion of mine and I'd like to take this challenge to get back into the way of living a thousand lives.

To see exactly what books I have in store, please check my Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ shelf (although, this might change, it should give you a good indication of what to expect):

/review/list...

Additional Information:

>If you’re interested you can contract me here on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ or via email to

[email protected]

>As I said the type of books are not an issue for me, but if possible, please write a list of topics you might be interested in or if you have a similar Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ list that would be the best.
>We don’t have to follow a rigorous 1 book/1 week approach, this is just an ideal target, but I am open to suggestions.

I would like to thank to anyone who read the post even if you are not interested. I am very excited to hear from you!

I'm a bit confused about what exactly you're proposing. How do you plan to approach this? Are you talking about actually reading aloud together?

´¡²Ô»å°ùá²õ Bognár | 7 comments Thanks for the question Laura, my plan is to simply read a book each week and to present it to someone else on their own reading challenge, thus increasing retention and getting to know twice the amount of stories i.e. through Skype or other audio software.

I'm doing The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle in January! I'm probably gonna do it on audio throughout the month so a bit slower than usual but I could totally discuss!

Hi ´¡²Ô»å°ùá²õ, I'd like to join you for a couple of these, as they are books which I have around and have never finished:

The Visual Display of Quantitative Information
How to Lie with Statistics
The Economic Consequences of the Peace
Thinking, Fast and Slow
How to Argue: Powerfully, Persuasively, Positively

and possibly also Satre and Adam Smith. Do you have your timeline posted yet? Maybe we can sync up.

Yes! Shall we? I'm really close to finishing a book now so I can get started this weekend? I would probably need a time frame of 2-3 weeks - let me know if this works for you!

This book is one I'd love to tackle but haven't yet. I'd be fine with taking it nice and slow for a buddy read.

I tried to read Wicked once before but didn't stick with it. I'd be interested in doing a buddy read of it.

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments I know it was already a group Book of the Month this year, but I’m planning to read Stephen King’s 11/22/63 in November and wondered if anyone is interested in a buddy read? It’s a bit of a doorstop (800+ pages) and it’s a little out of my usual reading comfort zone so I’d really enjoy reading along with other people.

message 125: by Niharika (new)
