Time to nominate our March 2017 Open Pick!
(And break the tie for our Wild Card pick voting.)

Nominations will be open through Jan. 23rd with the poll going up on the 24th. The discussion will start March 1st. If you are nominating, please begin your post by stating "I nominate [name w. hyperlink to book]".

The usual rules: 21st Century work of literature, one nomination per person. Please see the How Things Work post if you are new to the group or need a refresher.

Audible put it on their best of 2016 list.

LindaJ^ (lindajs) | 2548 comments I nominate A General Theory of Oblivion by José Eduardo Agualusa. This book was first published in English in 2015 (initial publication 2013). The author is Angolian and writes in Portuguese. The translator is Daniel Hahn. In 2016 it was shortlisted for a couple of prestigious awards for fiction translated to English.

I see The Noise of Time has won the vote, so thanks to everyone who voted for it. As always, I will be happy to moderate the discussion. This time, the book should still be fresh in the mind for me too - I bought a copy as soon as the paperback was available, and I will aim to start reading it in the last week of February...

Neil Good news - this will be the excuse I need to re-read it - I wasn't sure what I thought about it first time but I have a nagging feeling I missed something. A re-read is a good idea for me.
