Venecia | 131 comments Natalie can you double check the entry for Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe in the Mini tab. You have it being read 2017 by Kim. I see a 2016 read date on her shelves.

You are right. I was going by the comment next to it. I haven't gone through all her books, too many. I'll see if there's something else I want to read.

I think that was my fault. I read 2017. Sorry :( I'll be finished with Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe today and it works for the much needed card 5.

Happy Friday everyone!!!

I think I've been skipping over that since it has the wild and I figure whatever we use for one of the 5s there we can use for the wild as well. But it can all be flipped around later as needed.

Jessica, do you know if we have a book with two Is (character and author) could it be used in both spots?

message 163: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 234 comments Actually I heard we can use the draw two for the same reason, so next 5 book we have should be used for both spots on hand 8. It's the card where we seem to not have a lot of options for.

Natalie | 234 comments I'm around. I finished a book yesterday and two more today. We are making great progress! Part 2 of the mini challenge is almost done and I'm confident that we will fill up all the February cards.

Right now I'm just watching TV and looking for options for the part 1. I'm hoping to get through one more book tonight.

message 167: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 317 comments Hahaha! Hope you are having a great weekend Cecily!! I've barely been around today. Today was ***cough-thankfully-cough*** my son's last basketball game (so happy to have my Saturday's back!!!), then I took the kids to the zoo. Aren't you glad kids NEVER forget ANYTHING?!? Like when you momentarily loose your mind and promise to bring them to the zoo if they quit acting so feral? But, I was able to finish an audio last night before bed, and another today while the kiddos were playing ;-)

haha! Glad you get your Saturdays back! I don't know what I would do without them sometimes, need my sanity time.

Question: Do we have to ignore the articles like The when applying it to a card. I just finished The American Girl and I was wondering if card #2 is an option.

message 169: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 317 comments You can use it or not. Card 2 would totally work!

I moved Syndrome E, hand 8 card 3 to hand 3 card 3 and The One from hand 3 card 3 to fill the draw 2 spot in hand 8. Just be sure it counts. I think for the Draw 2 it has to be 2 different reasons. I could be wrong, but it works. Whatcha think?

:-) I'm more of a lurker than a talker. In real life as well. I'm usually the quiet one sitting in the corner with a book.
I'm having a pretty low key weekend. I was sick earlier in the week so just taking it easy and playing catch up.

Natalie | 234 comments I just updated the sheet. Also we got an announcement about March here:

/topic/show/...

For us newbies (everyone except Jessica) we get an extra hand each month for a total of fourteen. Also eight of the number cards now have a required cover color along with the task. So that's going to need some extra planning.

The cards are up in the spreadsheet. I colored the color cards in the associated color and have the draw 2s in purple. We got 4 yellow, 3 red, and 1 green.

Also Part 2 of the Valentine's mini challenge is almost done (just waiting on one book). The cards are almost filled as well!

message 179: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 317 comments Yeah! Things are getting a little more interesting ;-) Last year it seemed easier if we called colored cards first off, just to have them planned and out of the way. Should we try it out? I am totally confident we will have no trouble filling up 14 hands in March.

message 180: by Natalie (last edited Feb 22, 2017 05:06AM) (new)

Natalie | 234 comments Here are our colored cards (I'll also add a tracking area on the tracking sheet):

2 Red - Cecily
6 Yellow - Venecia
7 Yellow - Cecily
9 Green - Cecily
8 Yellow - Jessica
5 Yellow - Natalie
8 Red - Jessica
9 Red - Venecia

Anyone have something planned yet?

message 192: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 317 comments I hope you feel better soon Cecily! Yes, 5th place! So awesome ;-)

By the end of the day I will be finished with both of the books I am currently working on. I have The Help, Stardust, Code Name Verity, and Salt to the Sea. All of these would work for "published in Feb." I know that I can get at least 2 of them completed before the end of the month.

message 193: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 317 comments That will leave only 7 books to complete in the mini challenge. Woo Hoo!

message 194: by Venecia (new)

Venecia | 131 comments Cecily could you put in the read date for 1st to Die (Women's Murder Club, #1) thanks.

message 195: by Cecily (new)

Cecily Black | 148 comments Fixed!! It was trying to add a second read date so that is why you couldn't see it. The second one wasn't filled in but I have only read the book once!

message 196: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 234 comments Yeah, rereads are great, but they can be finicky. I go in and manually edit the dates to make sure they aren't being messed up. I remember at least one of them did the two read dates with no actual date and I only read the book once.

message 197: by Venecia (new)

Venecia | 131 comments I didn't realize that even if two teams completes all their hands they would not have the same points due to the cards they got, I thought every team had the same cards just in different configurations.

Natalie | 234 comments Yeah I saw that. We have a lot of 30 and 25 point cards in the next hand so hopefully that will help bump us up a bit.

But we did finish the hand! And are making good work out of the mini challenge.
