/search?utf8...

That's information that could go in the description field, but not the title.

Note: Many of these are adaptations, but not all.

Bea I noticed on the first one that "Penguin Reader" was also in the edition field. Could the level go there also?

Reading level is not an edition. Not sure "Penguin Reader" goes there either.

Bea OK, I will take this one on.

If anyone wants to help, I started on page 1.

message 5: by Mimi (new)

Mimi (heymimi) | 91 comments I'll pitch in.

I'll start at page 100

message 6: by Marcos (new)

Marcos Kopschitz | 122 comments I can help, too. Slower, perhaps. :-) I'll start on page 50 an d go up.

So, it is remove that reference from the title and insert it in the description, right?

And if it is an adaptation it should be separated from the original book, correct?

correct. You should also make certain, if it's an adaptation, that the adaptors name is listed first, and the author of the orignal work second, to prevent accidental combining in the future.

ETA: you'll hardly go slower than me, I caught the page with all the Houghton Mifflin School editions... lol.

Mimi (heymimi) | 91 comments QUESTION FOR RIVKA (or someone similarly qualified):

What to do with listings like this (teacher's reading resource kits?)
/book/show/1...

message 9: by Marcos (new)

Marcos Kopschitz | 122 comments OK to adaptor's name first, well reminded! Thanks, Mimi! But I'm afraid I might be real slow, I don't have much spare time. :-) Let's see how it works!

Leave them be. They are usually a book (or several books), regardless of that "kit" designation.

Marcos Kopschitz | 122 comments Just ocurred to me. rivka's link above is a search. As we remove those terms from the title field, I think the books will be gone from the list. As we advance, the number of total pages will decrease. So page 100 won't be page 100 anymore, will be the last page with any number under 100. It is easy to go from "first page always 1" up or from "last page" down, but page "50" won't be the same position especially if one of you on the extremities go faster than the other. That's perfectly manageable, just noting. :-)

I realized they're a collection of books, I'm just having a hard time figuring out how to clean up the titles...

Honestly, they're driving me bonkers today, I'll leave them for another volunteer.

We're just posting on which page we're starting as to not run into eachother too much (3 librarians working from the same page results in double work and problems ;) )

And yes, eventually the amount of pages will be dwindle down. :)

The one you linked looked correct as is.

Marcos Kopschitz | 122 comments Unless I'm wrong, the only way to go to a page in the range is by clicking on the highest page showing. But the list only moves about three pages on each click! So, it's kind of hard to get to page 50. I'm starting on page 20 instead.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments You can change the page in the link by using 50 instead of 20 ;-)

message 17: by Marcos (new)

Marcos Kopschitz | 122 comments That's why it is always better when someone has been on that path before! Great suggestion!! :-) Thanks, Lachgas!

However, I've started on page 20 for today. Results are like in this book:

/book/show/9...

I'm also including a "change note" that goes like this:
Removed information from the title field to the description field as part of a GR project to adjust to policy.

Marcos Kopschitz | 122 comments OK, first ten books done! Half a page. Good for tonight. :-)

Bea Wow! I did not realize there was so much help out here. Feels great to be a part of something instead of all alone.

Rivka's linked list, although it shows 100 pages, is actually 165 pages long! (3289 items divided by 20 items per page) That means that it will be a while before we start seeing the numbers go down.

I have been working on subsets of the linked page just so I can see some progress. ("Readers Level" - x) It helps when I am feeling overwhelmed.
