Duration: July 1 - September 30, 2014

There are tons of wonderful books out there that have never won any awards, no matter how many awards they've been nominated for.

For this challenge, choose a literary award (or two or three) that appeals to you. For a list of literary awards, click here: /award

Your goal is to read as many books as you can that have been nominated for but never won that specific award. Set your goal, and do your best to reach it by the end of the quarter!

-----

Kaitlin will be our leader for this challenge. Thank you, Kaitlin!

Janet, I think it would be fine for you to use as many awards as you'd like. As long as what you're reading was a nominee for a literary award, it counts!

message 40: by Megan (new)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed for first selection, nominated for Costa Book Award for Fiction - Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. I love Tudor/Elizabethan English history and really appreciated the story being told from Cromwell's perspective. It was the writing that I had difficulty with in this book. The author writes from Cromwell's perspective, but not in the first or true third person. It made it confusing to figure out who was speaking. Other than that, it was an interesting read and I'll be continuing with the series. Worth reading. 4 stars

Kaitlin (kait-k) | 537 comments You're updated, Tasha, Karma & Megan!

Megan, I tried reading Wolf Hall and just couldn't get into it because I had zero background knowledge and it was convoluted, like you said. It sounds like it's a lot of fun if you know the era, though!

Yes, I think a background in the history is a must for the book. And I still had points that I had to resort to google for;)
