Chapter 4- holy shit! Nicole got a real bad deal.

Internet is back. Don't know why. Something we've been dealing with for many months now. I guess if I go poof assume the internet went poof again but for now it's back.

Chapter 1 I can’t help but think she’s lucky. Her parents care about her. Though I can see that now I understand a teen doesn’t see it that way a lot of the time. Also doesn’t change the fact she seems depressed and needs help.

Wonder how this switching bodies thing will work.

I'm new to this group. Haven't made an intro yet as I'm horrible at those. I wanted to join when I saw Stephanie talking about this Fear Street challenge!

So I'm 3 books behind. I just started reading Haunted. I don't own all the books, so i will read what I can, when I can. (I'm keeping my eyes open at used bookstores, libraries...etc.)

I do own many, many of the Fear Street books, just not all the ones you guys have picked for this challenge.

Hope you enjoy the ones you do get to! I've just been buying them off Amazon as they get picked actually lol. Sometimes getting them used but I don't mind used books as long as I can still read them.

I finished Haunted. No spoilers, so read on if you would like.

I couldn't remember it when I started, but the more I read, the more of the book came back, so the twist at the end wasn't that shocking. I kind of had a vague idea about it from a far off memory. I still like the story, and think these cheesy teen books from the 80s/90s are great guilty pleasure reads. (I don't feel guilty, but you know what I mean.)

The ending didn't bother me, but I can see why it would upset some people. Oh and the twist was just kind of meh in my opinion. It was cool in theory, but I feel it could have been handled or explained better. What can you expect in under 200 pages?

Book is very heavy in rape culture. Not something I remember from my preteen/teen years.

In my opinion I did not care for the main character being teased for being "too skinny" I never saw the point of that being mentioned, and continually mentioned for that matter.

That same goes for her curly hair. Saying she needs to fix it or cut it. It seems that curly = bad, straight = good. (The cover shows a girl with really tame waves, barely curly. hehe)

These are little things, but to someone they might be big.

Or the ghost of Paul was a twin and the other Paul had something to do with his death. The ghost from the future thing just seemed off, I kind of wish the book was longer, so there was time to explain how that worked. (hide spoiler)]

I liked Switched. I figured out fairly on what was going on with Nicole, but I still enjoyed the book. And by enjoyed I mean I felt really sorry for Nicole but was absorbed into the psychological thriller esque story.

Definitely. Even though it isn't what I was expecting either I did enjoy it, and by enjoyed mean the same thing. I felt so sad for her. I settled on 3.5 stars as I really did like it and got absorbed into the story even when it was predictable.

Thank you! I'm reading Broken Hearts now, but I don't have Switched and I can't buy it right now. :( I have Lights Out though so I'm ready for next month.

I just finished Broken Hearts. I liked it, but I probably would have enjoyed it more had I not already known the twists in the book. I read this as a teenager and everything came back to me by about half way through.

I am unsure I'm a fan of unreliable narrators. (You guys know the person I mean!) but it was interesting to say the least.

Josie is easy to hate, but part of me thinks she had PTSD. I'm sure she is selfish, too, but I don't 100% hate her like other reviewers do.

Even still, I wonder if she had anything to do with the bad stuff. I even wonder if she really has a child like mind. I might be giving R L Stine too much credit. I'm not a medical person, but after a head injury, could a person fake being child-like or recover from that state without others noticing?

Edit: I got the free trial to Scribd (unlimited access to ebooks, audiobooks...etc) and they have Switched and a bunch of other R L Stine books if anyone is interested. Also it cost $8.99 a month after the trial.

I kind of got an idea after people seemed to know she was Nicole. I am not used to reading from an unreliable POV, but this one was interesting. The end was just the most sad. How she talks about recovering and because Lucy visits every day and is such a good friend. I wonder if one day Nicole will have a relapse and she will actually kill someone. But I'm thinking to hard about a fictional character. lol (hide spoiler)]

I am, I remember liking this one a lot but I will have it buy it.

I am too. I have to buy every choice because I started with no fear street books and am just buying them as they get chosen, which is fine with me. :) And used, new or kindle don't matter to me.

The Secret Bedroom looks like i'll probably get it on kindle though they do have a lot of used options too. For used though I try to pick ones that say either by or fulfilled by Amazon as i've had bad experiences with 3 party sellers when it's not fullfilled by Amazon and then you're shit outta luck. I've had books I paid for and never got.

Have you heard of Paperbackswap.com? It's a book trading website. You can swap books you no longer want. I've found a bunch of original covers of books on that site. If you have nothing to swap, you can buy credits in order to buy the books available on the website.

You put up books you don't want and if someone requests it, you ship it to them (You pay the shipping fee) and then you get a credit. You then can use that credit toward a book. So depending on shipping costs where you live, each book is about $3/4.

You can also make a wishlist and when someone puts on a book you want, and you're first in line, you can get it.

Credits are under $4 each, so you are getting a book for under $4 dollars. Not bad. (If you're patient, you can get some good deals on there.)

Audiobooks cost 2 credits.

The Secret Bedroom sounds good to me. I also remember liking that one.

Whenever you want to. I'm thinking even if i'm reading another book then I could probably handle reading a Fear Street book at the same time, though it might slow me down a little. They aren't long books anyway though so it wouldn't make that much of a difference. :)

I did win a ARC of the dead boyfriend from goodreads. it was bat shit crazy, and I didn't think it was much like the original series.

I'm going to a psychic faire tomorrow in a few towns over and they have a bookstore. I may see if they have some of these. no, we don't have a bookstore in my town.

Latasha I've read The first three of the relaunch. The were good. The Lost Girl was a little weird but the other two were entertaining.
