The Perks Of Being A Book Addict discussion
ARCHIVE Team Challenge: UNO 2018

Team Saturn

Thanks for checking in! And yeah, it is a lot collectively. Definitely very proud of the whole team :)

Hi all!
Just wanted to give you a little update on Feb's mini challenge since the month is (somehow) almost over already.
Part 1
All six books have been read! Currently, by my count, 4 of 6 comments have been made to other teams' threads for those books read. If you haven't left a comment and read a book for that part, please do so when you get a chance before the month ends. It's an easy 5 points, and with so many Draw 2 cards this month, each point counts :)
Part 2
We are down to 10 books left to fill. I'm trying to finish one for Team Grus now, which would take us down to 9. I plan on making a list in the next day or so of alternate possibilities for all the placed books so if you finish one and can't figure out an open spot where it fits, I can move books around as needed to get us as many points as possible!
Thank you so much to all of you for your hard work all month long! :)

Book: An Improper Situation
Date Read: 2/25/18
Mini Challenge - Team Haumea Still Alice
Set in Boston

Unfortunately, no :( If the titles are the same and it's just a one-word title, that is allowed, but not just a word in the title.

It features supernatural women, exorcisms, and has a symbol on the cover only aside from the title/author.

Oh! Okay, characters names were:
Riley, Brooklyn, Elijah, Hope, Gavin, Pastor Joe/Joe.

Book:

I couldn't find any connections for the cover and I have to go to bed, but I can look again tomorrow. Just thought I'd post it in case you could think of some way it could fit before I'm able to get back to it.
Characters are Molly, Michael, Heather, Helen, Dave, Jean, and Mr. Simmons.

Catie -- Just by reading the description of that book, it sounds like there is a ghost character that can communicate with the human characters. Is that accurate to say?

Great! I'm using that to connect it to Harry Potter (Nearly Headless Nick character). Just had to do some switching around of some others, but I have both that one and Sarah's The Merciless III: Origins of Evil added in.
Everything posted up to here is now in the spreadsheet.

We are in the last day of February and we are so close to done with the mini challenge! I still have to add a few of your books this morning, and then we are just a few books away.
All books for the mini challenge and comments for part 1 of the mini challenge need to be completed before reaches zero for it to count for the mini challenge. Anything finished after that we can start counting for March!

Amanda -- those good for me to look at connections for?
And yes, there is a completion bonus if we finish both parts! So if those books are good to go and I can find connections for them (whether on the open team or on others so I just need to move things around) then we will just need one comment from Part 1 still to get us the completion bonus!

Yes, I have not had a chance to look for connections yet. I don't mind if you add books from my shelves before I post a completion.
If Charly's book works for a connection, please use it instead and I will take the last few books off of my Uno shelf.

Hi Charly -- were you able to finish this last night? If not, no big deal because we can use something else, but I wanted to see if you finished first!

We did it! We finished out February strong. I still have one book to add to the spreadsheet later today, but we will have finished the whole mini challenge and, pending the mods' approval of all the connections in Part 2, will get a completion bonus as well. You all worked so hard in February, so great job!
And now here we are in March! So that means....shifting focus to March cards. We have 15 hands this month and 8 colored cards, plus 4 Wild Draw 4 cards.
Here are the color cards for March:
6 Yellow
1 Red
0 Green
1 Yellow
8 Blue
0 Yellow
5 Blue
4 Yellow
Let me know which you all want to claim! I can take either 6 Yellow or 1 Yellow with

And most of these we can have a duplicate for since we have a few Wild Draw 4s. The only one not to duplicate would be whatever we use for 6 Yellow, because that one is in the same hand as a Draw 2 and Wild Draw 4, so we can use that the Draw 2 to make that one book count for both.

I'm glad you liked it! At some point I will have to try to read it again since I never got to finish it.

This was a collection of short stories so there were a lot of characters. I put down the names of all the characters that fit. I'm sorry if that's confusing, feel free to only use one of the names per number

For March so far I am planning to read Heart of Mist (this one is 86% blue! Not sure if it can count though?)
The Gender Secret by Bella Forrest
Blood Moon by John David Bethel
I haven't thought much further ahead than those three, but I'm sure there will be more :)

Yes, they have to match the color and the card number! That's why they require a little extra planning ahead of time :)
So for example, this month I'm finishing up this one:

Which can count for our 1 Yellow (first in series), 6 Yellow (Character last name Swensen) or 4 Yellow (Author last name Fluke), but it cannot count for 0 Yellow because it doesn't fit the criteria for a 0 card.
Regarding Heart of Mist, our only blue cards this month are 8 & 5 ... so just by looking at the title/author it wouldn't be able to fill a colored card, but just be on the lookout for character names that start with E or I when you're reading to see if they can :) If not, no big deal because it will definitely fit somewhere!
