A couple of things to keep in mind:
Communication is key. Please make sure to check in regularly with your team.
Let your team know if it looks like you won't get your review posted by Thursday, 11:59pm. You do have all of Friday to submit your review, but it can be intensely frustrating for your captain if they don't know when or if they can expect your review before the deadline.
If you know beforehand that you won't be able to read and review a book during a certain week, you can request a pre-arranged absence from me, either by posting the request in the discussion thread or by sending me a pm. The request has to be submitted before the team rolls for the week in question, can only be approved by me as the mod in charge of running the game, and has to state a reason for the absence. (Reasons for pre-arranged absences can include e.g. going on vacation or work trips, planned hospital stays, exam period, etc.)
If you do not have a pre-arranged absence and won't be able to finish your book in time for an unforeseen reason, please let your team know as soon as possible. If the team has earned the free pass, it can be used to cover the missing review. Without a free pass, the team has to sit out the next roll.
We all know that real life gets in the way sometimes, be it through family emergencies, work emergencies, natural disasters, technical problems making it impossible to get online, or in other ways. That being said, please do keep in mind that this is a team challenge and your team relies on you to do your part unless an emergency occurs.
If you find that the pressure of keeping up with the pace of the game gets too much for you or you wish to stop playing for any other reason, you can drop out of the challenge at any time. In that case, please let your team captain and/or me know that you wish to drop out rather than just disappearing without a word so your team won't be penalized when you fail to turn in your review. Thank you!
Captain's Handbook
The team's captain is its chief organizer. This includes rolling the dice, posting the team's new spot to the team thread and the Post Your Spot thread, collecting links to team members' review posts in a single post to be linked in the Post Your Spot thread, doublechecking that books and review posts comply with requirements, reminding team members to post their reviews in time if necessary, etc.
The captain may delegate some tasks, such as rolling and posting the new spot to the team thread, to another team member if they so choose. (Either a designated roller who fulfills this role every week, or whichever team member is online first once rolling is possible.) Collecting reviews into a single post and posting to the Post Your Spot thread should always be handled by the captain.
Instead of having everything handled by a single team captain, teams can also choose two co-captains to handle the workload.
Selection posts are not strictly required by the game's rules and I won't be checking for them. It's up to the team captain to decide whether they want them.
If the team captain requests a pre-arranged absence, it's their responsibility to arrange for another team member to step in as temporary captain.
The team captain is my primary point of contact for the team and should allow receiving private messages.

Here some choices for team names

From one book to another
Rakes are sexy as hell
Never ending story

I like Rakes Are Sexy As Hell because...they are! :)
Does anyone want to serve as captain?

Great name suggestions! I'm good with any.

I will be going out of town tomorrow through February 6th, and although I can check in books - there is no way I could do the linking/going to different threads from the app. I could captain after that if needed, but the first two weeks I'll be gone. So...if someone else can captain - that is great! And if not, can someone take it until after Feb. 6th?

I will only have my phone on my trip - the app has no way for me to link books, and when I uninstalled it, it's still doesn't give me an option to link other than finding the book then giving the url link. Is that sufficient? Or do I need to bow out for the round or the game?

Yes, that's fine. Just put it like you have in your example post - write title and author, then the link.
If you use a cover alternate, you can have your team captain put the cover in the post collecting all reviews for the week.

I can get us through then! I just know my February is busy and didnt want to overcommit, but I also tend to get a bit extra with tracking and make it harder on myself than it needs to be. 😂
Also I'm in Mountain Time so if it's easier for me to roll at 11pm my time I can!

I was trying on my phone browser and it wasn't working but ??? I was possibly missing something :) Sigh....technology.

Hope you are going somewhere fun!

@Logan and Suzanne thank you for Captaining
My preferred name choices:
From one book to another
Never ending story

I'll look tomorrow to see what the roll is - ha I'm OCD enough that I picked a book for each # and loaded it on my kindle.
Any of the names are fine with me. If I had to actually vote, I'd choose Never Ending Story.

Also can't wait for the number to be rolled!
Never Ending Story works for me.

Looks like Never Ending Story works for everyone. Last call if not!
January is the perfect time to visit Orlando. When I lived there this was dream season. I get why all the snowbirds flock there for the winter! 🤣

Book: The Forsaken Throne by Jeff Wheeler
Qualification: #6 of Kingfountain series

Week 1: Spot 6
Alternate: Author 'Y'

The Fields by Erin Young
Qualification: Last name starts with Y

Book: Arthas: Rise of the Lich King by Christie Golden /book/show/6...
Qualification: World of Warcraft #6
Rating 4 stars
Review: I've had this on my TBR for 8 years so it's about time. I enjoyed the book but I've also played a lot of World of Warcraft. Arthas is one of the saddest stories and the author did a pretty good job showing how good intentions can go so bad.

This book was utterly delightful i adore the Malory family so much. I find them to be so entertaining and simply a hoot to read about.Even though they bicker a lot, we see that they are a family that is really close and have each other's backs

Book: The Forsaken Throne by Jeff Wheeler
Qualification: Kingfountain #6
Finished: 1 Feb 2023
Rating: ★★
Review:
2.5 stars rounded down. This is the 6th and final book of the Kingfountain series and I've owned it for over 5 years without reading and there was probably a reason but also the gap made me care even less for the characters. Life is all good for Trynne, she is married now, has family and friends and land to keep safe. Then within a hot minute, everyone hates her, accuses her of high treason to the point of violence and people are getting sick or losing memories. Trynne is special and able to see the treachery at work. She must go on a quest to save her world from utter destruction, of course.
The writing is overly simplified and sometimes painfully awkward. The world is much too good or evil with very little complexity of the real world. Ultimately the true believers of faith will be rewarded and the pretend or non believers will be judged. Each deception or solution is solved with an easy magic trick and it was all a bit shallow. Glad to be done with the series.

Forever and a Day by Jill Shalvis

Review
An unexpected phone call lands Grace the job of Josh’s dog walker which quickly becomes more. This is a sweet romance with the overworked ER doctor slowly falls in love with the overqualified Grace. It’s endearing to see how Grace reacts to Josh’s son as he struggles with having no mother around. Her no-nonsense attitude towards Josh’s sister who was injured in the same accident as the one where their parents were killed was refreshing. Needles to say there are a few little bumps in the road on the way to their HEA but they get there in the end with a little help from Lucky Harbor residents.

Week 1 - Spot 6
Alternate - Author 'Y'

Book: The Fields
How it fits: Author last name Young
Finished: 2/3/23
Rating: 3 stars
Review:
I applaud the author's rich descriptions for showing the setting, but it really slowed the pace. I also wish we knew more about Riley as she felt so distant. Why did she decide to be a cop? It seemed like it was thrust on her rather than her passion.
The mystery was unique and I liked the unfolding of the police work. It had a somewhat far fetched concept but overall still interesting with little twists here and there. I gave it 3 stars because it just felt middle of the road.

Spot 16
Alternate Title G

I'm reading The Giver of Stars by JoJo Moyes for the alternate.

Is anyone going to go for the start to finish bonus point? I might be able to do 3 in a row but I don't really have any to start and finish.

Spot: 16

Book: Fugitive Telemetry by Martha Wells
Qualification: The Murderbot Diaries #6
Finished: 4 Feb 2023
Rating: ★★★★
I love Murderbot. I love their snarkiness as they keep getting pulled into the human contact and society. When a dead human, the deceased, is found on Preservation Station. Murderbot and the station security team reluctantly agree to collaborate on the case and Murderbot can help but continue when their main reason is dismissed despite all the soap operas that they could be watching instead. I really enjoyed how Murderbot has a "family" now that they can call on and and they have their back. Murderbot stills struggles with the knee-jerk human reaction to a SecBot but they are still there to keep them alive. Excited for the next one!
