Yeah. It really hands me a laugh when these far-right juntas with dogs, and horses, and tanks, and personnel-carriers-filled-with-troops slowly roll down the street, bellowing, "Public safety is our top priority! We're here to protect you!"

All good. Provisionally for now --subject to later change --I'll accept any similar news item in this thread, anything related to high-level diplomacy. It is interesting stuff.
“Xi Jinping Says He Is Preparing China for War: The World Should Take Him Seriously
China is making aggressive speeches and taking actions preparing the country for war.
Article:
Huh. In my opinion --with the "push-button" way the world is today --large movements of land-based troops is just not gonna happen anymore.
If any US territorial interest --or any of our allies --were encroached upon (ex: Korean War), you won't see masses of US troops embarking on troop carriers.
No way. These days we would just deploy a battlefield nuke and sweep aside all the moral consequences.
It has to happen sooner or later ...and today ...we simply love our push-button expedience too much to futz around.
We want our Amazon prime delivery as speedily as possible and we want our pizza as speedily as possible and if China ever got in the way of our contentment, we would just fire off a little ole cruise-missile to "take care of it".
The American people simply wouldn't want to be bothered with another messy foreign war.
Even if the city of Shanghai was squashed, I'm not sure we would halt. Our leaders would respond: "too bad, they should have gotten out of the way".
And then whichever USA party was in power during the incident would rule the USA for the next fifty years on the strength of this new machismo.

The problems with Germany never go away. They're swinging far-right again. They should thank their lucky stars we took away their military otherwise we'd have to go in and destroy them for keeps this time.
