Humans have terraformed a planet and sent a colony ship out. 85 light years from Earth, these homesteaders expected to be on their own for the rest of time. A strange signal from a distant continent astounds them. They set out to discover if they are actually alone on this lonely planet.

If you're in the mood for something a little on the longer side, I have a 160k YA fantasy full of exploration, adventure, and discovery that I'd like to send to a few beta readers.
Set in a world not so different from our own, it follows the struggle of Peter Calroy, an orphan with grand dreams, as he fights to rise up from the soot-stained streets of an avaricious empire. Across the treacherous sea, Kalee of the secluded Darkwind tribe, indomitably curious with a penchant for sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong, struggles to find a place among her people. Extraordinary circumstances and harrowing adventure bring these two misfits and their disparate worlds crashing together in a tumultuous journey to save the ones that they love from mortal peril.
I'd be happy to share a few chapters with you to see if it's something that might interest you! Feel free to reach out to me at [email protected].
Cheers,
Ball

If you're interested, I have a 130K fantasy adventure manuscript in need of beta readers. If that sounds like something you'd like, you can message me here on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ or by email at [email protected].
Thanks so much!

I have a contemporary novel at 158k words.
Blurb:
One morning in a coffee shop, Alex is beside himself to meet Pete Shehann, whom it seems has some experience in the very subject of which he is a self-proclaimed enthusiast. Reluctant yet prompted, Pete shares his story, beginning with how his father abandoned him as a child in rural 1930s Oklahoma, leaving him embittered and believing himself a failure, proven time and again. And marrying May couldn’t be luck at all but a fluke, even if she has her own problems. After losing all of her family in a tragic accident, a terrible void remains, and she wants children more than anything.
An unexpected inheritance raises suspicions yet sends Pete and May to a new life in Oregon, where they meet Stevens, the attorney handling the inheritance and proving himself a faithful friend in the years to come. But a tragedy that happened on their journey haunts Pete, eventually conforming to an eerie parallel with May after her health fails following the negative results of an infertility test. It greatly disturbs Pete to discover he isn’t even enough for his own wife to want to live, but he determines to do whatever it takes to save her. And what of himself? Is he destined a lifetime of failure?

I have a WIP Science-Fantasy fiction novel, can I send the progress so far?
Blub: According To The Stars is a science fantasy fiction novel set in the Summer of 2002. It uses Time Travel as a framework to explore the budding and eventual destructive love story between Clarke, a retired Hollywood star of the classical Cinema era (1950s onwards) and Garveriel (Reil), his deceased wife, a Veteran Vietnam Nurse, and how they both used time travel in different stages of living as coping mechanisms. However, this is not really a love story, though two can be found (one of past significant prominence and the other of future significance). Iris, Clarke’s recent college-drop out granddaughter complicates, not only concerning Clarke’s relationships with memories and images (he has with his wife) but also, the consequences of trying to repeat the past.

I would love someone to beta read my festive novella The Candleglow Chronicles. It is approximately 27k words and written in twenty five chapters, as an advent story for my kids. It tells the story of Nikolai Christoval who rises from humble beginnings in St Petersburg, Russia to become a powerful sorcerer who, along with his best friend, a talking dog called Boz and some rather famous historical figures, casts a spell to save the world from the creeping darkness of a shadowy organisation and in the process creates our modern idea of Christmas.
Many thanks
Lee

You may absolutely send me what you have. My email address is [email protected]. I am happy to discuss this with you!

Single, teen mother Julia Loren navigates the challenging waters of raising her daughter alone after her boyfriend leaves her to follow his father’s footsteps into the military. Though the sailing is far from smooth, her life begins to look up until she suddenly learns her ex-boyfriend is not in the military anymore. The news causes the wall of lies she built around herself and her daughter to crumble a little every day. If she can’t stop her life from falling apart, she just might lose everything.
Is that something you would be interested in beta reading? It seems a little outside your listed preferences, but I thought I'd ask since you said you also read other books.

If you're still available, I would love for you to Beta read my novel, Summer Haze (57,000 words).
Logline: A coming-of-age story in the rural south about a ten-year-old boy who faces love and loss in a carefree summer that suddenly turns tragic.
Thanks!

Nalangu doesn't know where he came from. He arrived in Lumbwakeju on a small raft, scraping along when the river was running low. Though he is raised in the valley, he does not feel connected to its heart, so he is satisfied with following in his father's footsteps and remaining on the outskirts as a farmer. Unsurprisingly, as a man not looking for responsibility, he finds himself in the middle of a power struggle that he doesn't understand. When power and responsibility are thrust upon him, he must grapple with the duality of his mystery and his longing to be one of the people. In a world full of gods and magic, one young man must find his way.

Thank you for this, it means a lot. My book is a YA: Fantasy about a young Aztec man who sees his family killed then he is ripped away from his homeland.
This story is a tale of revenge and hardship.
Where he meets incredibly well written characters and an incredible plot.
In this story we have empires, wars, battles, love, and hatred. It is truly a story masterfully built. I'm looking for honest and critical feedback back. If you are interested please email me at
[email protected]. Thank you! (I’m unfortunately completely broke I am hoping for free beta reading.)

I’m really hoping to find beta readers asap. This story is my original story, Latinx representation and is technically enemies to lovers. It takes place in beautiful West Palm Beach Florida with a biker/firefighter MMC and a Fiery Plant Shop FMC. There are side charters and side story problems that the characters have to solve as their love slowly blooms. There’s flashbacks and detailed depictions of what happened in the before that has lead to the now. There’s of course a cute pup and bike riding scenes.
I really hope this peaks your interest, if it does email me [email protected]
Thanks in advance :)

If you have a chance to look at my novel that would be amazing. It is a literary speculative fiction novel (with horror elements) called THE BRIDGE (90k). Below is an elevator pitch, blurb, content warnings, and some comp titles to give you an idea.
--
The Bridge, a monumental structure, stretches the breadth of The Atlantic Ocean and THE MAN is crossing it on foot to reach his love.
--
A story of determination, hope, fear, war, and love.
The Bridge stretches the breadth of The Atlantic. At one end, THE MAN. At the other, his Love.
Considered a war hero for his actions as a conscript, The Man was living quietly in his village wanting to forget his struggles, until one day he accesses a chat-room on what remains of the near-future internet. There he meets someone who gives new purpose to his life, but they live on the other side of the world. Torn between tending to his dying hometown and starting a new life, The Man decides to journey across The Bridge and embrace the perils that come with it.
The Bridge poses many unanswered questions and presents many impossible things. Those living upon the monstrous structure would sooner let The Man die than help him for free and The Pilgrims travel counter to his heading. The Man must reckon with who he is, what he has done, and what he can still do. We learn of his past and see what he will do to secure his future.
How far would you go for your Love?
---
Some of the literary voice and architectural magicalism of Piranesi (Susanna Clarke) with the political, near-future bite of The Wall (John Lanchester). Sometimes as dark, haunting, and biblical as The Road (Cormac McCarthy).
--
Content Warnings (possible spoilers):
Death, war, graphic violence, torture, references to/implications of SA (no details or depictions), PTSD and other mental health struggles, scenes of suspense and potential horror

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

If you're interested I would love for you to read my YA fantasy novel (99k words in length), Four Queens' Fates! Here's the blurb:
Every generation in the royal family of the Queendom of Dirington, four sisters are born. And every generation, when the youngest sister turns thirteen, the girls are given three years to kill one another. This generation seems to be cursed. Each sister has different beliefs and ulterior motives, but they share a couple things in common: they all have softer hearts than a queen should, they share passion and fury, and rebellion rises in their hearts.
Firanna is the oldest and strongest sister, and she bears the power of the Fire Element. She struggles to keep a strong face in front of events that threaten to make her mask slip. She seems heartless and cruel on the outside, but inside she’s fighting to keep herself together. Watene is the next eldest and the weakest sister, with the power of the Water Element. She’s resigned herself to death, since her body is weak and she’s dying anyway. But when a certain boy enters her life she begins to think maybe she holds more power than she thought. The next sister is Ealinna, the Earth Elemental. She is the strongest and bravest, but while she isn’t against killing, a bond has begun to grow between her and her sisters. The youngest sister, Airabella, is the Air Elemental. Her unconditional love for all her sisters makes her a prime target and shows she’s unfit to be queen.
When the sisters meet, they can’t find it within themselves to kill one another. As they delve deeper into the queendom’s history, they begin to realize that it’s not their sisters they should hate, but society. Between romance, trickery, and the fight to survive, the four sisters weave an intensely emotional plot. And some day, at least one of them will take the crown. But who will it be?

Hi Brandy,
I am looking for some beta readers for my fantasy book, and I was wondering if you would be able to read my book? It is about 93K words and has 25 chapters. The story follows five warriors who must master their unique elemental powers and unite to confront an ancient evil that threatens their world.
Let me know if this is something you would have time to do and would want to do.
Thanks,

My novel is a clean mystery involving an amateur private eye with supernatural powers. This novel is complete and in its umpteenth (7th) draft and ready for fresh eyes and new perspectives.
The word count is around 85K, with 32 chapters told in the first person of the private eye. Would like the beta reads completed within 46 weeks.
Here’s the blurb I’m going with for now:
Children have gone missing in Metro City, and the police are all out of resources—except one. Will Jones, a Feeler, is called upon as a private consultant to the MCPD to aid them in finding the innocents before it’s too late.
Haunted by his past, uncertain of his future, Jones must reacquaint himself with his out-of-practice empath abilities before he can hope to rescue the missing in time.
If you think you would enjoy reading my novel, kindly apply as a beta reader using this link: . I’m using StoryOrigin for my beta copies.

I'd be very grateful if you'd be interested in taking a look at my novel, "Allegro con Fuoco". It is literary fiction and approximately 134,200 words. The novel follows Alma, a talented teenage violinist, struggling with depression and domestic abuse, who finds an unexpected mentor in a young deacon at her local parish. Past tragedy and a love of music connect the two. As her home life sinks to an all-time low and she misses a crucial audition, Alma runs away from home and enters a convent, trying to find solace in faith, music, and solitude. But as people from her past start to resurface, she's forced to look into her own heart and decide between what's easy and what's right. (I'd like to also warn that there are scenes with sexual and violent content, as well as some explicit language).
I am looking for feedback on plot structure, pacing, character development, and general impressions on the writing style.
I hope you might be interested in providing some feedback. Please feel free to DM me if this sounds interesting to you. I'd very much appreciate it!
Best,
Nico

I hope you're doing well! I’m excited to invite you to be a beta reader for my latest manuscript, Magical Messes: The Soul's Calling. This story follows Harriet Summers, an ordinary girl who feels adrift in her life and is convinced she must have a soulmate somewhere out there. Her journey takes her to the mysterious Evernight Academy, where she befriends a range of supernatural beings and faces an ancient villain seeking revenge after 1,000 years.
I’d love your honest feedback on the characters, plot pacing, and overall engagement of the story. Your insights would be invaluable in shaping the final draft and making it the best it can be.
If you’re interested, I’d be thrilled to share the manuscript with you. Let me know if you’d like to dive in, and I can send over the details.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Best, Hazel

I would love to connect! I’m the editor for Alice Rose McQueen, who is working on a new urban fantasy series titled Clan of Bruce - The Last Vampire Family. The series blends epic fantasy, supernatural intrigue, and family drama—think Bridgerton meets Interview with the Vampire meets Succession.
Your experience as a freelance ghostwriter, copyeditor, and beta reader moderator really caught my eye, and I believe your keen editorial skills and love for epic fantasy would make you a fantastic beta reader for this project. We’d be especially interested in your feedback on character development, world-building, and pacing.
If you’re available and interested, I’d love to send over more details and discuss further. I think you’d be a great fit for this exciting project!
I also sent you an email!
Thank you so much for considering this opportunity.
Warm regards,
Lewis Martin

I'm looking for a beta-reader for latest novel. The Houseboat Detective is a 66k mystery/detective/romance story with comedic undertones.
Jake Sommers is a twenty-something man living in a dilapidated houseboat at Fisherman’s Wharf in Victoria, on Vancouver Island. He inherited the vessel from his great aunt, who also left him enough money to (barely) live on.
Jake’s a bit of a lost soul, floating through life, with no real direction. His last girlfriend left him for that reason. He spent some time in the army in Afghanistan, which only amplified his distance from other people. Partly because of that distance, and partly because of his job, where he gets a lot of free booze, he has a drinking problem.
Unknown to Jake, Frank McCluskey, the eccentric guy from the houseboat across the dock, puts an ad on Kijiji saying that Jake is a qualified and experienced private investigator. McCluskey thinks he’s doing Jake a favour by getting him out of the bar scene.
Jake only finds out about the ad when he’s visited by a prospective client who wants to use his services. Normally, he would have brushed them off, but the client is a beautiful woman, and he can’t resist taking on her case, even though he knows nothing about being a private eye.
But the case he agrees to turns out to be far more than he was expecting.
The novel begins lightheartedly, but becomes more serious as it progresses. The woman claims that she’s looking for her sister, and her true motives are the central mystery.
If you're interested, contact me at: [email protected]

If you feel that too much time has passed and that you no longer wish me to beta read for you, I absolutely understand and will delete your email as well as any file that you sent me. If you wish to continue, I appreciate your understanding. Please do not hesitate to contact me--I promise that I will be contacting each of you via email today.

Thank you so much for the update and for sharing what’s been going on—I’m really sorry to hear about the tough times you and your family have been facing. Health and personal well-being always come first, so please don’t worry about any delays on my end. I completely understand.
I hope to have you as a beta reader whenever you’re ready. There’s no rush from my side, and I truly appreciate the time and effort you’re putting into it.
Take care of yourself, and I look forward to hearing from you when the time is right!
Warm regards,

I have a completed fantasy novel that's about 149k words. I am searching for a free beta reader that can help me see everything that I am too biased to notice about my story.
The story follows the main character, Elora, a banned powerful princess who grew up thinking her world died and living in the human world. She was cursed when she was little, being part of a dark prophecy that threatened to destroy their magical world. At 20 years old, she is compelled to return to her world, and we see the journey of her coming back, accepting her real identity, embracing her powers and the truth about her family and her world, and fighting everyone who doesn't trust her. There is a romance, enemies to lovers sub-plot as well as mystical creatures, wars, battle scenes, and complex characters.
You can find the prologue here, and let me know if you're interested.
If you are, reach out to me here or via email at: [email protected]

Hello!
I'm humbly seeking a beta reader for my first book, Revealing the Eternal Thread: The Design Behind Lost Knowledge and Human History.
I’m hoping for someone to provide thoughtful feedback on the narrative flow, engagement, and clarity of ideas, as well as to highlight areas for refinement. This book is deeply personal, and while it reflects my current faith, I’ve written it with an open hand—aimed at seekers, skeptics, and believers alike. If you enjoy books like The Unseen Realm or Magicians of the Gods, this might pique your interest. To add a little context, beyond a much better product, my goal is to also polish and reduce word count to the 100,000 to 120,000 word range after receiving feedback.
The Book's Claim:
The overarching claim of the book is that the fragmented stories of humanity—from ancient myths and sacred symbols to modern advancements and existential questions—are not random. Instead, they form part of a divine narrative, carefully designed to reveal purpose, rebellion, and redemption.
Overview:
What if the pinecone and handbag motifs—separated by thousands of years and miles, appearing in diverse ancient civilizations—were not random, fragmented symbols but part of a divine tapestry revealing humanity’s search for the eternal?
This book explores the recurring theme of rebellion across time, from sacred patterns in megalithic architecture to myths of lost knowledge, tracing humanity’s pursuit of meaning in the shadows of its defiance. It connects these ancient echoes with modern advancements in science, technology, and psychedelics—pointing to hints of an unseen realm that still calls out to humanity.
Anchored in the Christian worldview yet engaging with its mysteries through a slow introduction to the faith, the narrative dives into the universal human longing for something greater. It weaves together the patterns of rebellion, the rigor of modern discoveries, and the unyielding human search for redemption. From the technological achievements of the present to the spiritual symbols and unsolved mysteries of the past, this book offers a coherent lens through which to view humanity’s purpose, its struggles, and its ultimate hope.
For those drawn to the mysteries of the ancient world, the boundaries of science, and the longing for the eternal, this book invites you to see how every thread—whether ancient or modern—points toward a deeper truth and redemption.

If I can answer questions or provide something like a snippet from the book, please let me know!
Thank you for considering!

Blurb/Excerpt: Entry 148- I still don't know how I managed it, Holy Sonom Soeht; the mind is indeed a powerful thing. My mind had already started to dissociate as the bleeder ran up to me, pinned me on the ground, and sunk his teeth into my neck. I fixed my eyes on the emerging moon as blood dripped down the back of my neck. The night lights blurred with tears but did not disappear. Not a single muscle of mine moved as he released my neck and stood up. To my shock, the bleeder spoke then as my gaze remained pinned on the sky. “It’s been quite a long time since I drew blood without a fight, and from a god woman to boot. I heard him pick up my broken cleric chain off the ground. His foot pushed against my still frozen face as he stood over me, dangling my chain from his hand. “Such a shame that misery and naivety are not virtues, he declared with blood still on his lips. The chain fell on the dirt beside me. As I listened to his footsteps turn and leave me, he hollered, “A word of advice, woman. If I can smell the insincerity on you, don’t you think your omniscient deity can? I’m not sure how many minutes passed after he left, with me still paralyzed on the ground weeping.

In Beneath the Breaking Lines, the lives of several individuals converge around a fatal bus crash, revealing how a single act can unravel everything with devastating consequences of deceit and the fragility of truth. Cooper Reeves, the owner of a struggling bus repair company, faces the consequences of his past as he works to rebuild the wrecked bus, haunted by guilt and the weight of his decisions. His journey becomes a quest for redemption, not just for the bus, but for himself and his fractured relationships, especially with his wife, Samantha. The line between innocence and guilt, between success and failure, is razor-thin, and as Cooper’s past collides with the present, the weight of those breaking points pushes him toward an irreversible transformation.
Throughout the story, the characters grapple with their breaking points—moments where a single choice or flaw changes their lives forever. Yet, despite the lies and betrayals, there is justice in the end. The truth comes to light, offering some measure of closure to those left behind after losing their loved ones. In the aftermath of the crash, Cooper and Amy’s bond deepens as they work together to restore the bus, symbolising the repair of broken parts of themselves. As Cooper and Amy’s connection grows, Cooper comes to realise that perfection is an illusion, and it’s the imperfection, the moments of breakdown, that shape them. The bus, once a symbol of destruction, is now a symbol of renewal, and Cooper finds himself married, beginning a new chapter in life. The journey from tragedy to healing, from fault to forgiveness, unfolds beneath the breaking lines of fate.

I'm fairly new to writing having only started early 2024. I could really use some eyes on my drafted story. Blood of Wisteria is a 156k word fantasy with witches, elves, mentions of faeries, monsters, and some romance.
Plot: 600 years ago, the Elven Queen of Aurellon was murdered by her human partner after she banned him for lying with another woman. Using her dying breaths, she laid a curse across the continent that she would one day return to seek vengeance on all souls like Sebastian. Her elves were turned into horrid beasts, compelled to roam the lands until her return.
Today, a young witch named Lenore is living a peaceful life unbothered in her cozy, woodland cottage, away from ghastly monsters. After moving there at 18 some years ago because her powers were never strong enough to be a true healer, she uses simple cures and treatments she creates from ingredients in the forest. The nearby locals were fond enough to let her remain there.
One rainy, fateful day, three strangers storm her cottage for her to heal one of their wounded. Upon learning their identities and their intentions, Lenore’s world is flipped upside down as she is dragged into helping them search for an end to the 600 year curse, if only to ensure her family's survival.
In their quest for the cursed queen, Lenore discovers many truths about herself and the long lost city of Aurellon. She discovers she now carries a target on her back from brotherhood witch hunters and power hungry priestesses. She is forced to find her strength to overcome anything if it means she saves the ones she loves and hates.
Please let me know if this interests you!

If you are interested, please let me know and I'll send you the manuscript.
Here is the blurb:
In a world where identity is currency and perfection is engineered, survival is never guaranteed.
In the slums of Tarus, Milo clings to his only friend as his world crumbles in a sea of Faceless soldiers.
High above, in the pristine city of Paradium, Eva lives in a gilded catch of perfect illusions.
As forces beyond their control shape their fates, both must navigate a society built on secrets, control, and sacrifice. But when the truth begins to unravel, they’ll be faced with a choice—conform or fight back.

In the real world, Aria walks through ordinary days—but deep below, a ballerina spins endlessly in a haunting underworld where shadows whisper and time stretches thin. A clown grins from the dark, and nothing stays still for long.
As the veil between realities wears thin, the boundaries of self, sanity, and story begin to unravel. Splintered Skin is a lyrical, unsettling descent into a fractured mirror of identity, illusion, and the stories we tell ourselves to survive.

Hi!
I'm looking for beta readers for a 101K word biography of the father-daughter team who produced the first translation of the Ebers Papyrus--one of the Ancient Egyptian Medical Papyri. Thought this might interest you if you like non-fiction history.
Beta readers ideally should be fluent English speakers, with an interest in Ancient Egyptian history, medical history, and the history of the American Midwest at the turn of the 20th century. We are asking that no AI be used at any point in the beta reading process, including to refine or draft reports or comments.
Is this something you'd be interested in reading? If so, please email me at hartsockj at gmail dot com and I can send you the completed manuscript.
Thanks,
Jane

I'm looking for a beta reader for my manuscript, which I expect to be complete in mid-May. It's one of many re-writes, so pretty well developed. It's a 100K word YA fantasy, but not one centered around magic systems and supernatural events.
I'm looking for general feedback on what works / doesn't work, overall impressions.
If you would be available in the May-June timeframe, let me know. I can send you a blurb to introduce the story if you like.
Thanks,
K.C.Brown

I'm looking for a Beta reader for my 75K story.
A retired English enthusiast of military history goes to Volgograd (Stalingrad), Russia, to see battle sites. Because of language problems, he hires a female guide. In addition, he doesn't like Russia or women.
His guide insists on introducing him to Russian culture, which, over a week, becomes fascinating to him. His guide also becomes fascinating to him. He loses his reticence about women and starts a romance with her. They both learn to live and enjoy life, improving their previous sterile existence.
If you are interested, I will send you my document.
regards
Derek
I am offering my services as a beta reader. Just for background:
I am a freelance ghostwriter with two Masters degrees (and another one I will finish in the fall). I am also a library director for a small public library. No, I promise that I am not too busy! I have copyedited in the past and was a one of several beta reader moderators on a fan fiction website that specifically catered to men and women over the age of 18 (the site also had a section for creative and original stories).
My favorite genres are nonfiction history, epic fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. However, I will beta-read any genre that you are writing. It is my opinion that all authors are amazingly brave to put their creative minds "on paper" for others to see and experience.
Thank you for reading through this!
