Hi John

I create my own, and I do them for other people too. I use Windows Live Movie Maker, its easy to work with and you get great results.

BTW, I think your trailer looks great.

I liked the trailer very much! It pulls you into the nightmare of Vietnam quickly. :)
Currently, I'm using Windows Movie Maker, but I also utilize PowerPoint, Paint, and picnik. My favorite place to purchase music is Neo Sounds.

I really want more options for transitions. Anyone know of a cool program or place to edit that does not cost major bucks?

Hi,
Yes I did, I really enjoy making them.

message 410: by mountainmama (new)

mountainmama (jcallenbooks) | 413 comments I love making them too. I've made a half-dozen for friends. I need to go back and re-do mine, but hate to change the YouTube address since it's posted all over the place!!

Here's the last one I made for Occupation by Jeff Dawson:

message 416: by mountainmama (new)

mountainmama (jcallenbooks) | 413 comments Anna, it's hard to find clips for free because you can't track down the owner - and heaven forbid you should use something that's copyrighted! I usually go to clipart.com. You can look for free and if you see stuff you want, join for a week for $15. You can download everything on there if you want - I'll get stuff for future books, videos I'm doing for others, etc. I found a bunch of Army/Navy/Air Force clips that you can use free on their sites (you just have to credit their site). I used a bunch in "Call Sign: Wrecking Crew" by Lynn Hallbrooks:

message 417: by Anna (new)

Anna Mayle (annamayle) | 14 comments Mountainmama, I like that video! Very well done. ^_^
Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check there, what I'm really trying to find are video samples, stock footage. Ant ideas on that end of things?

message 418: by mountainmama (new)

mountainmama (jcallenbooks) | 413 comments Oh sorry, I've not used video samples, so don't know much about them. I use Pond5.com for music sometimes and I know they have video clips, but never looked at them to see how expensive they are. The music is anywhere from $2 up to hundreds.

Kergan Edwards-Stout (kerganedwards-stout) | 9 comments Following, please find my first trailer, for my novel SONGS FOR THE NEW DEPRESSION, which will be published in October.

More trailers, in different look/feel/tones, to come!

Kirkus Discoveries calls SONGS FOR THE NEW DEPRESSION "a distinctively entertaining novel written with moxie and bolstered by pitch-perfect perspectives."

message 423: by Anna (new)

Anna Mayle (annamayle) | 14 comments Great trailer Kergan! I really liked the use of a vocal overlay, it's something I haven't seen used much in book trailers. Very nicely done.

If you don't mind my asking, where do you get your video clips and sound effects?

Thanks! I pulled some free stock footage of the clouds (can't remember which site, but search for free stock footage online), and also used some really old images (found on youtube) shot by Thomas Edison, as I'm hoping they're public domain! :)

mountainmama (jcallenbooks) | 413 comments Very nice Wendy.

message 435: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Dubow Polins (authorwendy) | 5 comments Thanks- it is difficult to try to convey the essence of 100,000 words into a short trailer, but the novel is very visual and many of my readers say they can "see" it clearly. Actually, what is much more difficult is boiling down your entire novel to ONE sentence, which we had to do for the cover!

message 436: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne (jeanne_voelker) | 42 comments Wendy,

I just viewed your book trailer. Is it made for people who already know what your book is about? I saw a series of beautiful photos and catch-phrases, but this video didn't offer me a clue as to what your story is about.

Maybe I do better with book jackets. What was the one sentence that describes your story?

message 437: by M.J. (new)

M.J. Webb (mjwebb) | 79 comments Nice job Wendy. Like the music. I know what you mean about the blurb and synopsis. My sequel is 113,123 words and I'm having a tough time condensing it. :-)

"The Nameless World" by Heather Payer-Smith (middle-grade fiction)

While trying to escape the persistent class bully, Noah
discovers several mysterious, metallic puzzle pieces
lying on the ground. Beside them are the glasses of his
missing science teacher and mentor, Mr. Porter. As Noah
fits the pieces together he disappears through a portal into a mystifying world
filled with creatures and adventures beyond all imagination.

His first instinct is to find a way back home, but Noah
suspects there may be a link between this strange world
and Mr. Porter’s disappearance. Throughout his search
for Mr. Porter and his journey to find a way back home,
Noah learns the nameless world is in trouble and finds
himself a pivotal player in the struggle to save it.

Hi Heather,

I hope you are well. I'm Magda & I'm a writer/filmmaker.
Just watched your trailer & as asked giving my feedback :)
I like the music & the mysterious sentences.
However I would probably make it 10-15 sec. shorter & would add the books website at the bottom of your video not only at the end of the video. I would also consider adding some more drawings/images/illustrations.
But you did grab my attention & I'm looking forward reading your book :)

Happy Tus.
