message 2: by Alysses (new)

Alysses (rumor_has_it) I think it would also be a nice idea to mention where we can find them for the kindle since I've been looking for Comanche Moon on kindle for a while and haven't been able to locate it.

Thanks!

All of these I found available from Amazon. I am not brave enough to shop for e-books from other sources even though I know sometimes it can be cheaper. Amazon just makes it so easy *click* done. LOL is the link for Comanche Moon.

Alysses (rumor_has_it) Awesome thanks. I checked a few months back and couldn't find it on Amazon.

Robin Higgins (arsinoe) | 5 comments A question about Kindle, Nook, Sony e-reader vs. Ipad. I am thinking about buying Nook (Barnes and Noble's ebook). But thinking about all the other things I could use an Ipad wondering if anyone has an Ipad, if you like? If you would change your mind et al? Thanks!

My perception of bodice-ripper material exceeds the definition itself. I won't list any books that don't consist of bodice-rippery; whether it's rape, forced-seduction, abduction and enslavement. Moments of sheer WHERE IS THE HERO? type of madhouse. I have a few that do not fall under the 'bodice-ripped' category by physically overpowering the heroine, but the heroine's will is bent in some manner.

Note: If there are some on this list, which you consider NOT a bodice-ripper, please let me know..as I've delved some others shelves to organize this list, along with mine own. Some were also tacked onto the "greatest bodice rippers" lists here, and were highly rated/recommended. I took the time to venture through Amazon.com's Kindle store(since the list gave me no such indication as to its availability on Kindle), to ensure that there was indeed a copy of such. Again, these products can be purchased on Amazon.com!

I also alter this list DAILY, check back for additional Kindle bodice-rippers!

Wendy, Lady Evelyn Quince (ladyevelynquince) | 245 comments Miriam Minger, while not a bodice ripper writer, wrote historicals from the late 1980's into the mid 1990's & has released most of her backlist e-book fomrat, at least on Kindle, (I have a couple).

The only one of her's I've read was a medieval Captive Rose by Miriam Minger , which wasn't bad, but no uber-alpha/ bodice ripper epic.

Here are her e-books releases:
Wild Roses by Miriam Minger
A Hint of Rapture by Miriam Minger
Captive Rose by Miriam Minger
Defiant Impostor by Miriam Minger
My Runaway Heart by Miriam Minger
Stolen Splendor by Miriam Minger
Wild Angel by Miriam Minger
Secrets of Midnight by Miriam Minger
Twin Passions by Miriam Minger
The Pagan's Prize by Miriam Minger

Wendy, Lady Evelyn Quince (ladyevelynquince) | 245 comments I know Shirl Henke has released a few of her backlist on kindle e-format as well, but again, she's not much of a bodice ripper writer.

I think the book I'm currently reading qualifies as one: bodices get ripped, lots of epic elements: priests-behaving-badly, jealous other-women, quasi-adultery, evil monarchs, forced seduction, cat fights, medieval torture...too bad it's not on e-book format yet:

Paradise & More by Shirl Henke

***EDIT*** nope, I'm wrong, apparently it is on e-book format and so is it's sequel!

Paradise & More Shirl Henke

Return to Paradise Shirl Henke

Wendy, Lady Evelyn Quince (ladyevelynquince) | 245 comments Jennifer Horsman, who wrote for the Zebra in the 80's& Avon in the '90, has also had a few older writings released as e-books.

Passion's Joy by Jennifer Horsman
Forever and A Lifetime by Jennifer Horsman
Virgin Star by Jennifer Horsman
Awaken My Fire by Jennifer Horsman

message 20: by Mermarie (new)

Mermarie | 956 comments Mod
Awesome, Wendy. I had only found the Virgin Star to add, but I've noted that if an author releases some Kindle versions, most likely, the rest of their library will be as well. It's why I only listed a few of each author's books. XD

message 21: by Misfit (new)

Misfit A few more to mention, and I haven't read them yet so I can't tell you if they are *true* bodice rippers or not for this group. Marsha Canham has most of her books out on e-book and she throws them up free on occasion, so worth watching the freebie sales.

The Countess by Claire Delacroix The Countess (Bride Quest, #4) by Claire Delacroix

Lady in White Lords of Midnight by Denise Domning Lady in White Lords of Midnight by Denise Domning

Domning has other titles out on ebook as well. I think there are some title/author name switcheroos.

California Caress (Zebra Historical Romance) by Rebecca Sinclair California Caress by Rebecca Sinclair

Say You Love Me by Patricia Hagan Say You Love Me by Patricia Hagan

Touch the Sun by Cynthia Wright Touch the Sun by Cynthia Wright . This is part of a series written by Cynthia Wright and I believe all are available via e-book.

Call Home The Heart by Shannon Farrell

Beyond Betrayal by Christine Michels Beyond Betrayal by Christine Michels

Windswept by Cynthia Thomason Windswept by Cynthia Thomason I've read this, fairly enjoyable, but also tame in the sex department.

The Visions of Ransom Lake by Marcia Lynn McClure Visions Of Ransom Lake by Marcia Lynn McClure

Author Kate Silver wrote several Restoration period books back in the early 2000s including one female musketeer based trio. I've found the trilogy and two others on e-book. Abide with Me by Kate Silver Loving Charity by Kate Silver was a dud though.

PS, all of the books I've mentioned in this thread were obtained via freebie sales.

Misfit..I love how you show the older books with the newer ones :)I just wish I could get them *pout* But heck..most Ive got anyways in PB,and its not like I dont have anything to read now is it?

message 23: by Misfit (new)

Misfit Sandi, I love those older covers. BTW, I found a good link to Cynthia Wright's e-books on B&N,

She's done a nice job of packaging the series up in one volume, although I'm still waiting for them to pop up free again. The cover for Silver Storm sure gets around though. I've seen those models in the same pose on several different books now.

Im still checking out some others on the list above.

Misfit Wow, finally they have something. The one I read of OK for a brain candy day, but not great. The sex was a bit tame, but there were plenty of perky breasts and stuff.

Looking at the ratings (and who reviewed it negatively), it looks like "Fulk the Reluctant" got into the crosshairs of That Other Bodice Ripper Group here on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ that has group reads of romances just so they can give them 1-2 stars and snark on the genre as a whole. It maims the rating system for those books. I'm glad they think they're so clever.

message 41: by Mermarie (new)

Mermarie | 956 comments Mod
Do what.. I didn't realize we had BR enemies in our midst--or that they had actually congregated. LOL

I noticed also, that Beautiful Disaster was sabotaged quite deliberately in the reviews as well. Like a campaign for anti-BD. lol The irony being is that the ratings are AMAZINGLY high, and further indicate the book's quality.

Someone most likely devised the other BR group, to rankle our nerves, because I rarely see their reviews/commentary.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

I think they were formed before this one was, but our goals are quite different. LOL

Beautiful Disaster got slammed because of the author's behavior towards negative reviews. When that happens, things snowball. So the reviews end up becoming haters vs. defenders and quite a few in between who just want to read a book and (hopefully) enjoy it.

I came a hair of giving it five stars, to tug-of-war it over to the practical side, but I wouldn't dare without properly reading it first. LOL

I've not read Beautiful Disaster, but intend on it in the near-future. Regardless of what rank I give the book, I dare say I hope it doesn't influence the author from writing more. It's her dream/story, not mine! :D

I spotted those two earlier and then, after 20+ 2004 reprints, I stopped browsing in the April free editions. LOL I get this adrenaline rush when I see incredibly old novels re-released. I'll have like five tabs open, "Ooo...old print too. Goodread search: Omg, it's an old bodice ripper!" LOL To even imagine bodice rippers even being published today, is near uncanny. I'd say those questionable authors are dragging their books to Kindle, 'cause it defies the Nazi publisher's screening tactics. lol

Misfit: I added the Windswept to the Zebra book list the other day(because we're on a Zebra-to-Kindle crusade!), but hadn't realized it went free today. It's AMAZING how fast some of those go up, and you almost don't get a chance to download the same free day, before they hike up the prices out of nowhere! :O
