Its based on the whole series. The books are fairly quick reads.

message 154: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) I'm reading Trouble in Mudbug (Ghost-in-Law, #1) by Jana Deleon for a challenge in another group. It's a new-to-me author but I'm liking it so far. It's funny and light. Unfortunately for me, I think it will have to go on my bloody-love-triangle shelf.

message 155: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) I'm rereading No Souvenirs (Florida Books, #3) by K.A. Mitchell , a m/m romance. I've never thought of Asian guys as being sexy but the author has definitely made me reconsider. And it's a good thing I'm home. I'm laughing like a loon. I'd forgotten how enjoyable this was.

message 156: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I'm reading The Raven's Bride A Novel by Lenore Hart I'm only on page 19 so I don't know what to think yet!

°Õ³Üğç±ð Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) | 157 comments I have finished The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman by Neil Gaiman, and Wow, it was amazing!!! I loved it. He made all the fantasy and unreal parts acceptable so easily, I loved it without noticing. I didn't want it to finish. The storytelling was incredible.

message 158: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) That's on my TBR list!

Have you read any other books by him? I've enjoyed Stardust and Neverwhere. American Gods and Good Omens were okay. Good Omens is supposed to be hilarious since he had teamed up with British fantasy author and satirist Terry Pratchett, but I couldn't really get the humor.

message 159: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (elliebellie98) I'm reading Falling Under (Falling Under, #1) by Gwen Hayes and I think it's really good so far--but it's only the beginning so I don't know.

message 160: by whimsicalmeerkat (new)

whimsicalmeerkat I absolutely adore The Absolute Sandman, Vol. 2 by Neil Gaiman by Neil Gaiman. All of them, not just the second volume, it's just my favorite color. Beautiful comics.

message 161: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I'm reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks and so far, so good. I already saw the movie so I know what will happen but it's always good to read the book as well.

That book sounds good. It might be the next on I read by him. I also like the sound of Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman

message 164: by Shadow Jubilee (last edited Mar 17, 2011 06:58PM) (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) Amy, you might want to read American Gods if you haven't read it already. Anansi Boys is sort of like a sequel to American Gods.

Edit: That is to say, I've always considered it to be so since Neil Gaiman introduces the world in American Gods. From what I am reading, though, Anansi Boys can probably work as a stand-alone.

It was my first Gaiman actually. Last month I tried to start Good Omens but I believe I wasn't in the right mood for it so couldn't get settled down to read it.

That was my first Gaiman book so cannot compare it to any other work from him but I will definitely read more from him.

°Õ³Üğç±ð Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) | 157 comments I am reading The Invisible Bridge by Julie Orringer and it is slow but good so far, very descriptive, easy to picture the times... I am also reading Black Dust Mambo (Hoodoo, #1) by Adrian Phoenix for a challenge, even though I am not sure I like all the witch craft, it is a fast and fun read so pretty enjoyable.

message 170: by Kellyflower (new)

Kellyflower | 248 comments I finished up Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Hand (which I loved). I'm now gonna try to read the rest of Fruits Basket, Volume 1 by Natsuki Takaya , which is taking me a little time to get used to the reading style. then start The Cypress House by Michael Koryta & Darkest Mercy (Wicked Lovely, #5) by Melissa Marr

message 171: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I'm glad you like Unearthly, Kelly. I'm not a fan of angels but I loved the story.

message 172: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 61 comments I loved Unearthly, huge fan of angel books, it was a very good story :)

I'm currently reading Wither (Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano

Which is good thus far but I just started it, I can't wait to divulge myself with this book...

message 173: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Lacey, I feel slightly jealous because it seems like everyone has read Wither before the release date. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy.

message 174: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 61 comments Aww, I'm sorry :) I've been reading some more on it and Love it!! Can't wait till you can finally get your hands on it, be curious to know what you think of it.

message 175: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) I'm reading Going All In and I'm thinking what a pleasure it is to knock off some of the freebies from my TBR list. lol. I also finished Make Mine Midnight and Rough Cut in the past few hours.

message 176: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I'm reading Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely, #1) by Melissa Marr and I'm stuck between liking it and being very aggravated (as mentioned in my status update). I really like Seth and I feel like that's who Ash should be with but she's being charmed by Keenan. Once again the girl falls for the guy because of what he is instead of who he is. Lets hear it for originality!

message 177: by Sans (new)

Sans I'm reading Bonded by Blood (Sweetblood, #1) by Laurie London and I think if it weren't for the comic value and standing as a good example of "How Not to Write", I'd have tossed it off the roof of my office building, into the hale and watched gleefully as cars ran it over.

message 178: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Strong words, Sans lol.

message 179: by Sans (new)

Sans I have stronger ones, but I'm attempting to refrain from excessive use of colourful metaphors (as Spock called swearing in Star Trek IV) on this list. ^o^

message 180: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I felt that way while reading Hail Caesar. It makes me angry just to think about that book.

message 181: by Amy J. (new)

Amy J. | 686 comments I'm reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. I'm only on page 26 so I don't have a lot of thoughts about it. I am learning loads about male nerdiness.

I liked the rest of the books in that series a lot more then the first one.

message 183: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I'm so tempted to ask you who she ends up with. The most obvious and disastrous answer is Keenan (bleh!).

message 184: by Kellyflower (new)

Kellyflower | 248 comments Sashana wrote: "I'm so tempted to ask you who she ends up with. The most obvious and disastrous answer is Keenan (bleh!)."

Well...
The thing is you don't get that answer until the end of book 5 (which is the end of the series)
But it really is a good series. It ends up being all about the power between the courts and less about Keenan , Seth & Ash.
Don't give up on the series because of the first book.

message 185: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) I just finished another handful of short stories/novellas, and while I'm thrilled to be removing them from my own-but-not-read pile, I'm a bit dismayed at the quality. I'm thinking that if these are offered as freebies to encourage readers to check out the author's backlist, the least they could do is offer good stories. As it stands, I've little to no interest in checking out these authors.

I won't. I just finished it this morning and I've decided to give it 3 stars. I would have given it 4 stars but I was annoyed by Keenan (I'm sorry, he just irks me). The end made me happy though and I can't wait to read Ink Exchange. I did hear that there would be a new set of characters so I'm kind of disappointed already.

Niquae can you give us a few titles? I'm curious because I'm always searching for those free romances and it'd be good to know what not to read.

I've reviewed a couple of them but here is the list of books (well, short stories/novellas) and what I rated them:

--With This Ring by T.A. Chase 2/5 (m/m romance)
--Rough Cut by Mari Carr 2/5 (erotic m/f bdsm)
--Make Mine Midnight by Annemarie McKenna 2/5 (erotic m/f/m menage)
--Going All In by Jess Dee 2/5 (erotic m/f/m menage)
--Emerald Green by Desiree Holt 1/5 (erotic m/f) I created a new bookshelf just for this: erotic-porn-aka-sex-with-no-plot.
--Love Pursued by Sandra Heath 2/5 (historical romance)
--Bride's Holiday Gift: Naughty Nooners by Solange Ayre 2/5 (erotic futuristic)
--Shelley's Secret by Jean Hart Stewart 1/5 (1960's contemporary romance)
--Holiday Hostage by Kelly Fitzpatrick 1/5 (contemporary romance)
--The Bite of Silence by Mary Hughes 3/5 (paranormal romance)

Edit: I will add that the author of Holiday Hostage, Kelly Fitzpatrick, did impress me with the comment she left. I thought about checking out her other works but there is only 1 other, and when I read the excerpt, I realized that I might not be able to relate to the heroine although the premise of the book sounded interesting.

I know what you mean. I had so much trouble reading it. I was wondering what the book was about and wanted something to happen.

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments I stopped by the library today and as I waited to be helped I saw Little Brother sitting on a shelf. I had this on my TBR but wasn't planning on reading it anytime soonish, but figured meh I'll grab it since I'm here. I started reading it tonight and can't put it down! I had to force myself to put it down and try to go to bed. Its interesting because so much of what is happening in the book is stuff that is/or could be happening right now around us. A dystopian novel for current times instead of some distant future. I'm enthralled.

message 194: by Kristen (new)

Kristen | 223 comments I got "Daughter of Fortune" by Isabel Allende from the library a couple of weeks ago, and I LOVE it. It's an historical novel, taking place in Chile and United States during the 1830s and through the California gold rush. I'm a little over halfway done and the main character just got to California so I'm not entirely sure where the books is headed. If you're in search for a good historical novel, stay tuned, and I will let you know if it's good throughout.

°Õ³Üğç±ð Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) | 157 comments I finally finished The Invisible Bridge by Julie Orringer by Julie Orringer. It was really good and kind of really slow and I must admit I got worried around part4 that I might get bored :) But still I liked it. I am now reading Lover Unleashed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #9) by J.R. Ward by J.R.Ward. Actually I was reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson by Stieg Larsson but as I got my copy of LUnl today I will give a break to TGWDT for a day or two. I don't know why but I couldn't really concentrated on that one and been struggling for awhile now. Maybe I should give up already. I just can't accept the fact, to be the only one who has not read the series.

message 196: by Sans (new)

Sans Somehow I allowed myself to get distracted from Graceling and downloaded a couple of "human chick gets abducted by aliens" books. Y'know, the smutty kind. I thought they were both going to be short reads but only one was. Then I started the second one, Genesis (Enslaved, # 1) by Kaitlyn O'Connor . Holy crap. This is a full length novel and it sucked me right in. No delightful romps with a hawt alien stud who happens to be the heroine's twue wuv here. This is dark, frightening, and (other than the aliens part) eerily believable.

message 197: by Shadow Jubilee (last edited Mar 29, 2011 04:59PM) (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) I started Death's Excellent Vacation on the train ride home (although I really should have finished up Artemis Fowl for a Challenge ending in a couple of days...). It's an anthology of paranormal romance, edited by Charlaine Harris and Toni Kelmer. Included authors: Charlaine Harris, Katie MacAlister, Jeaniene Frost, Lilith Saintcrow, Jeff Abbott and others.

I actually borrowed this book because apparently Katie MacAlister's short story is about Jim, the loveable demon-dog in her Aisling Grey series.

First story was Charlaine Harris's. It's a Sookie Stackhouse one. I will admit, I tried to read the first of that series when I had borrowed the e-book from the library and never got into it. Nonetheless, judging by the amusing quotes from her books in Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, I really wanted to like that series.

But I was bored the first six pages. It was, "I did this. Then I did this. Then I did that. And we went here. This happened." yadda, yadda, yadda. I was like, "Are you kidding?" My 14-year old English language learner cousin writes like that. I had to correct his writing journal I had him keep while he was visiting. It was boring.

I think it is a little better now but...please tell me that her books are really good because I am starting to have doubts.

@Sans: Wow. The cover is a little disturbing. Read in another review that the male aliens were also prisoners. What's with the breeding program? I think I'm interested in checking this out. err, free, if possible. *mutters: Maybe next year I should give myself 50 books per year.*

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I am reading Vixen (Flappers, #1) by Jillian Larkin and I'm about 40% done. I like it, it's like gossip girl or the luxe but set in the 1920s with flappers and speakeasies in Chicago. I think I'll end up really liking it by the time I'm finished
