Anne | 318 comments The Others series is so fantastic - completely different. Meg is a very unusual heroine - I cannot wait until book 4 this spring.

Dawn (goodreadscomdawnchartier) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Dawn Chartier. I live near New Orleans, and I love PNR and Urban Fantasy. (I also love contemporary, historical and so on.) Some of my favorite authors are J.R. Ward, Karen Moning, Feehan, Kenyon, Shayne, Anne Rice, etc. So many to name.

It's great to find a place where we can share our new author finds. :-)

Happy reading!

I miss living in Nola, I'm so jealous! Those are some great authors, who do you like for UF?

Sharon Craft (torakai) | 1 comments Hi all

Am in the UK ( live in Cambridgeshire but originate from Yorkshire)

I am not so into the paranormal romance but I do enjoy the Urban fiction genre. I come from a solid Sci-fi/horror/19th-century authors background (thanks, Dad) and I play RPG's pretty regularly.

I like Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, and Kelley Armstrong at the moment but wanted to join the group for more recommendations please :)

So hiya everybody! it's nice to virtually meet you !

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Welcome Michela!

message 865: by DiLynn (new)

DiLynn (bifempagan) | 2 comments I'm Di, and I'm 30 something, have three teenagers, and we all love to read PNR/UF. The younger kids are in debates over the Dark Hunters and Chronicles of Nick series, and the oldest and I are discussing Sisters of the Otherworld (Yasmine Galenorn). I'm thinking of introducing him to Patty Briggs Mercy and Alpha and Omega series now that he's caught up on Yasmine's books.

I'm disabled, so reading tends to keep me sane.

We love in the great Pacific Northwest (just East of Seattle). I have a great partner, and together we have three dogs, one cat, and five bunnies.

When I'm not reading, I'm often at karaoke, because I love to sing, I love music, and that's my outlet.

That's pretty much it.

message 866: by Michela J (new)

Michela J (mesopretty89) | 6 comments Wow Di it's great that you don't let your disability keep you from the fine things in life.... I absolutely love karaoke and all things music

Disabled vet, fibromyalgia, PTSD, migraines, endometriosis, stuff like that. I can't let them get the best of me, or I'd never crawl out of bed. I have kids who need me, ya know?

message 868: by Michela J (new)

Michela J (mesopretty89) | 6 comments Heck yeah can't let it keep you down thank you for your service

message 869: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4718 comments Welcome DiLynn! Sorry to hear that life is a struggle, but I'm sure reading & music, the kids & the partner help to make life sane.

It sounds like a great idea to intro your son to Mercy & A&O. I also recommend Kate Daniels. I'm sure he'd enjoy the humour & sword fighting.

Jay Shaw (jay_shaw) | 4 comments Hi Everyone,
I'm Jay Shaw, and new to this site. I arrived here when I discovered that Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ already had an author page set up for me with the publication of my first book "Wolfhaven". This book is a shifter/action/romance that I hope readers will love and enjoy the ride. It's the first of the Duality series. I'm currently working on the first of a sci-fi action/romance trilogy I hope to have out in the next eight weeks.

message 871: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4718 comments Welcome Jay!

Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ is good like that. A lot of us are librarians and add books all the time.

I'll have to check out your books, I'm a sucker for shifters & scifi-roms :)

message 872: by Jay (new)

Jay Shaw (jay_shaw) | 4 comments Thank you, Sandra! :D

You and your fellow librarians are doing a fabulous job.
I love shifters and sci-fi romances too, I guess that's why I decided to write a few. Write what you want to read, right? I just have "Wolfhaven" out at the moment, but I hope you enjoy it, when you get the time to read it. :D

Jay

message 877: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia | 1 comments Hi all, I am Cyndi and right now my PR is limited to Christine Feehan and Katie Reus.....I love the shifter aspect and sometimes think I would love to be a leopard or a dragon, lol.....

message 878: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Hi Cindi welcome to the group!
You know Christine Feehan does not get enough credit in my opinion she is like the mother of PNR.
Have you read Nalini Singh?

message 885: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, my name is Sarah. I discovered Patricia Briggs in December. She changed my reading life, and I have been burning through Urban Fantasy ever since. I have made it all the way through the Mercy Thompson series (twice), Kate Daniels (super excited for Sept. 20), and the Cassandra Palmer series. I am currently in the Edge series by Ilona Andrews, and I am glad I found all of you.

message 886: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4718 comments Welcome Sarah! Wow, you've certainly picked my favourite UF series to start with. Please check out the threads & I'm sure you'll find some more great authors :D

message 887: by Anne (new)

Anne | 318 comments Welcome Sarah! If you like Patricia Briggs, you will probably like Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock as well.

Anne wrote: "Welcome Sarah! If you like Patricia Briggs, you will probably like Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock as well."
Thanks! I picked up the first 3 but haven't cracked them open. Gotta finish the Edge books by Ilona Andrews. I'm excited for them though.

message 889: by LastBreath (new)

LastBreath (last_breath) | 241 comments Hey Sarah and welcome! When I read your post about the Kate Daniels series I got lost in a world of nostalgia. To say that I love this series is a total understatement. I want to get in and break down the why's and when's of it but that would take too long. Even writing a review was frustrating because I wanted to say everything but feared the spoilers. Anyway your post also reminded me that I needed to purchase #8. Friends say I should read it online but I believe in Ilona Andrews talent so I support them the best way I know how - by buying! (I've also got a thing for their Edge & Sweeper series).

Anyway welcome, be merry and enjoy!

The Edge is a great series!

LastBreath wrote: "Hey Sarah and welcome! When I read your post about the Kate Daniels series I got lost in a world of nostalgia. To say that I love this series is a total understatement. I want to get in and break d..." Yes, I was lost for a few weeks with Kate Daniels, I abandoned my family, my sewing, my health (lol). When I wasn't reading, I was thinking about the books and trying to figure out why they worked so well for me. I do not really see myself in Kate, a little but not alot (I see alot of myself in Mercy Thompson that on was easy for me to figure out why it worked so well). Anyway, Ilona Andrews has a talent for sucking me in fast and completely. I will be at a local book store right after work on the 20th then I'll be gone for a day or two - lost.

message 894: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4718 comments Welcome Howard! I think that is every fantasy fan's reason for reading; a secret world, things that aren't the same as real life and larger than life characters :)

message 895: by Aureliana Marina (new)

Aureliana Marina (aurelianamariana) | 1 comments Hello, I'm Aureliana and I'm new here. I love PNR and my favourite author from this genre is Lynsay Sands and her Argeneau series.
My hobby is reading, writing, music etc and my dream is publishing my own novel.

message 896: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Chanticleer (rachelchanticleer) | 8 comments Hey everybody!

I'm Rachel and Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance are my genres of choice. My very favorite stories are the ones where (usually the heroine) discovers the world of the supernatural the same time as the reader does.

Thanks for having me!

message 897: by JT (new)

JT Lake (JT_LAKE) | 1 comments New to Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ and this genre! Excited to get some recommendations. I'm trying to broaden my interests and library. Feel free to follow / friend. I'm hoping to contribute as much as I can.
Thanks!

message 898: by Isabella (new)

Isabella | 1 comments Hi,
I'm Isabella, I adore urban and paranormal fantasy.
It started out with Night Huntress, and from there I've so far read Mercy Thompson, Alpha & Omega, Anita Blake, everything Ilona Andrews etc.

I feel like I've exhausted the quality series of genres and need some input as to what I can try next since I've had some disappointments.

message 899: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4718 comments Hi Isabella,

Welcome to WYA. Now, what sort of books do you prefer ~ urban fantasy, paranormal romance, space opera, magic users, fae, vamps, shifters, dragons, etc etc ???

Or should I ask, what didn't work for you? That might be the easier question.

I heart Seanan McGuire's October Daye series and am currently enjoying Sarah J. Maas' Throne of Glass series.
