Ditto that! The Namesake was an excellent book. I really enjoy this author's work. I still need to read Unaccustomed Earth.

But yeah, so anyways, i am one of those people whose mind is all over the place and reads a ton of books at once. I'm trying to narrow it down now, so im finally just reading one book (and thouroughly enjoying it!)
I'm reading The Good Earth by pearl s buck
Hi, Yishian :) If you post your introduction in the introduction section you'll be sure to get more welcomes, and get to know more people. But seeing as you've posted here, hi!
Is The Good Earth historical fiction?
Is The Good Earth historical fiction?

The book starts off in a very gently English way. A father, going through the existential angst of middle-age, is taking his wife and two teenaged children for their last joint family holiday. They are going to a caravan park and the talk is of motor insurance, car sickness, country walks and the like. It reads like its going to be a modern comedy of manners until he sitting in the happy silence of couples who know each other very well and his wife pipes up, "I'd really like to be shafted from behind by an Arab with a big tool, who really knows how to use it." Oh!
Rereading A Woman of No Importance by Oscar Wilde with the class. It's quite fun reading it aloud. I'm Lady Hunstanton.

I think this one will be a quick read.

Lily has what looks like the perfect life: a fabulous day job at a fashion magazine; a killer figure she can literally never lose; and a great group of girlfriends who are always there for her. Oh, and she also just-so-happens to be a succubus: an immortal demon who draws her power from other men's pleasure. Although working for the Devil does have it's perks, Lily's realising that serving up bad boys to the fiery pits of Hell is just getting ...well, lonely. Just once, Lily would like to wake up in the morning to something more than a pile of ashes but, contractually bound to Satan, she will only be released if someone truly loves her. Then the devilishly handsome PI Nathan Coleman enters her life and Lily begins to wonder if he might be the man she's been waiting for. He wants to ask Lily a few questions about a missing man, but suddenly someone - or something - wants Lily and her demon friends dead, and Nathan seems to know more than he'll admit to. Can a sweet-talking mortal and a girl from Hell ever really find true love?

What do you think so far? I very much enjoyed it!

We read this for our bookclub a few months ago, and I
really did like the author's journalistic style of
writing. He stated facts

It's an amazing book.

Let me know what you think once you are done. I read it a few months ago. (I say no more at the moment).

Sorry, Alanna, didn't mean to be negative!

I can completely see why people love it and yet it's hard to put into words. I can definitely see myself coming to appreciate it in the future, but my first (and so far, sole) experience of it was unremarkable.

I should really be finishing Wuthering Heights (don't get me started on that one) but I'm starting Howards End by E.M. Forster.

I recently purchased The Double Bind but I am teaching Great Gatsby this year and want to re-read it before I read Double Bind.

I got about 85 pages into Wuthering Heights, put it down because I wanted to read something else and I never got back. I didn't hate it, but obviously wasn't moved enough.

I am currently reading Her Fearful Symmetry, in preparation for the Audrey Niffenegger Q&A session, and after that I plan on reading HELP! A Bear is Eating Me! - It looks hilarious!

I wish I could do the same, but sadly many essays on the subject await me :( I don't hate it either - it's just not my kind of novel at all.

Ahh, well it was a pleasure read for me. I never had to read it in school. Good Luck!
