Diane U (djuseless) I just wanted to let everyone know that as of yesterday, I became a librarian for Good Reads. That means that I can add editions (such as kindle edition) and update book information that is incorrect.

If you come across any changes, please list them here and I will do my best to correct them. I figured that our group should have someone who could do that.

message 2: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Ooh, exciting! Does this mean that you can merge Kindle and paperback editions together? I've noticed a few times that some of them are separate which can be kind of annoying when you're looking for reviews but they're not there because someone has reviewed a different edition. If that makes sense?

message 3: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) It does make sense but I need to read about what I can do first. My first thoughts were to help add in kindle additions and update book details for us.

message 4: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) That sounds like a good idea, it'll be good to have all the Kindle additions added in. Let us know when you've got started and I'm sure we can find some editions that need editing!

message 5: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments I am also a Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Librarian of of yesterday. I applied mostly to make series correct. SO many books are series but not set up that way. I have already done 2. If there is a series of books not set up let me know by posting a link to the authors book page so I can verify and I will do it. :)

message 6: by Terri (new)

Terri (terrie) | 32 comments I also as goodreads librarian since last year. . I sometimes fill in photos in there . and corrections on book descriptions. I didn't like to see no photos in book selections. If you have any books that no pic. let me know. I will do some research them.

message 7: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I just became a GoodReads Librarian as well. It'll be nice with all of us working to get Amish book series more in order! (And other books as well too!) :)

message 8: by Kristy (last edited Jan 27, 2011 07:12PM) (new)

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments I am also a goodreads librarian. I noticed kindle editions don't always let you put in the percentage of completion of a book. I have had to go in and change it from a book edition to a kindle edition. But I found one book that I could not figure out how to fix. It kept asking for page of page whatever and I could not figure out how to fix the problem. It was for the format of the book that was a problem that I could not fix. I fixed others though. I don't know which book it was though.

message 9: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Ooh, thanks ladies. I'll come here and post any problems I discover! The series thing is something I'd love to see fixed, it's really helpful to just click on the link and see all of the books in order.

I would love to be able to see the series in order!! That would be awesome Rachel

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments How do you ad a kindle edition to a book? Summer Camp Adventure by Marsha needs a kindle edition. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/70...

message 14: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Okay guys, I'm going to take advantage of your expertise and see if you can organise a couple of books into their correct series?

A Time to Love and A Time to Heal by Barbara Cameron are books #1 and #2 in the Quilts of Lancaster County series, respectively.

Grace by Shelley Shepard Gray is #4 in the Sisters of the Heart series.

The Journey by Wanda E. Brunstetter is #1 in the Kentucky Brothers series.

Running Around (And Such) and When Strawberries Bloom: A Novel Based on True Experiences from an Amish Writer by Linda Byler are books #1 and #2 in the Lizzie Searches for Love series, respectively.

The Amish Midwife and The Amish Nanny are books #1 and #2 respectively in the Women of Lancaster County series.

Paradise Valley is #1 in the Daughters of Caleb Bender series.

Bygones: Sommerfield Trilogy, Beginnings and Blessings are books 1, 2 and 3 in the Sommerfield Trilogy.

I'm sure I'll find some more soon! Just going through the Amish books in our group right now. Thanks if any of you can organise this! :)

Seems that you have them right.

In addition...

Big Decisions is #3 in Linda Byler's series.

message 16: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Thanks for adding that, Barbara. I can't seem to find it on GoodReads though, it doesn't seem to be listed yet.

message 17: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I'm on it! Working on adding series to titles right now!

message 18: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Ok, I think I added all those series you requested Rachel. Let me know if I made any errors or if you find anything else. :)

message 19: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Perfect! Are you able to make it so that you can click on the series title and it brings up a list of all the books in order? I've seen it on a few books but I'm not sure how you make that work.

Thanks!

message 20: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I can look into it Rachel, I think I know how to do it! :)

message 21: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments Yes you can just create a name for the series and that name comes up next to the book title. :)

message 22: by Diane U (last edited Feb 03, 2011 09:58AM) (new)

Diane U (djuseless) I just updated Dark Harvest. The edition that I had said that there was 4,388 pages instead of 388. Major typo, huh??!!

message 23: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I am working on it. :)

message 24: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Yay, thanks Camille!

And LOL, Diane, I noticed that too! Thanks for fixing it :)

message 25: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments Yeah I have fixed a few page numbers as well it seems like a lot of them are off. Its nice to fix them and getting the series right makes finding other books a lot easier!

message 26: by Kristy (new)

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments Diane U wrote: "I just updated Dark Harvest. The edition that I had said that there was 4,388 pages instead of 388. Major typo, huh??!!"
I had changed that one to 388 pages but must not have deleted the 4 because it said 400 pages instead of 388.

message 27: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Ok everyone, here is what I did.

After I made the changes Rachel requested I went through our folder that lists book authors and their books.

I then proceeded to check out each book and series to be sure the series was included in the title, if not I added it.

I also checked to see if there was a link available to see the whole series in order, if not I added it.

We now should have everything from that folder up to date, fully & properly titled. :)

Let me know as more books come along and I can add them to a series and fix their titles to the correct format.

Also let me know if I missed anything or made any mistakes. :)

message 28: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Oh! Also let me know if you find the same book listed twice when running a search for it. I can combine it together so it all comes up under one title and is just listed as a different edition of the same book. It will merge all the ratings together so we can get a more accurate idea of what others are rating the books. :)

I went through all the authors of Amish fiction and merged all their books together already, but if you find more let me know.

message 29: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Oh, thanks so much Camille! I was planning to list all the ones I found that needed fixing so you saved me a lot of trouble! You're a gem :) It's so handy having all the series books together now, saves us trawling through all the books by one author to find the next in the series.

If I spot anything else I'll give you a shout :)

message 30: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments No problem! :)

I also found that some authors were listed twice because of initials.

For example there was a P.L. Gaus and a PL Gaus, so I merged the two together. Let me know if anyone finds anymore of these so we don't have multiple profiles for the same author. :)

message 31: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments You have been busy!! My husband has been out of town so I have not had as much time to work on stuff. I did a few last week. Some of the authors are spelled different with different books so they don't match up etc.

message 32: by Terri (new)

Terri (terrie) | 32 comments My thumbs up for all of you. Way to go.

message 33: by Kristy (new)

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments Question, can't update percentage for this ebook. I don't know how to fix it. Can someone else see if they can figure it out and or add the kindle edition?
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/94...

message 34: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Can someone separate this book, Hometown Bride, from Homespun Bride? They're by the same author but Hometown Bride is a freebie novella that you can find online here: and it should have its own separate edition.

message 35: by Lorie (new)

THere is a book I just read called Clutter Rehab by Laura Wittmann. There are two listings of this book. One has the full title and one just has Clutter Rehab. I think the book is Clutter Rehab: 101 Tips and Tricks to Become an Organization Junkie and Love It! That one has the full title but I put my review on the one with the Clutter Rehab title. Is there a reason that it is listed as both?

Kristy, I just looked at it and it is fine. If you have it as currently reading, go to update status. Then if page comes up, click on the word page to change it to %. I just did it and it worked!

It was linked through the original version. I deleted that information under Homespun Bride. See if it helped!

It still seems to be linked to Homespun Bride. This is a pain as I have both books! Any way of separating the two?

How about now? I deleted the original book settings. But it did say that it could take up to 10 minutes for changes to take affect.

message 40: by Kristy (new)

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments How do you change it to the percent?

message 41: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments Kristy wrote: "How do you change it to the percent?"

You just click on the page numbers and it should switch to percentage. I don't think its something you add its just there.

message 42: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments I mean when you go to update your status you click on the total pages and it then will switch to percentages.

message 43: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Alright, I combined the two books you requested, Lorie.

I separated the two books you requested, Rachel! :)

That's neat! Thanks! It was bugging me that I couldn't put in the proper percentage. lol. To find it was that easy to fix is cool!

What was I missing to separate the two books???

message 46: by Camille (last edited Feb 04, 2011 12:28PM) (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments If you go to the book page there's a link in the upper right by the "editions" of the book that says combine.

You click that link and it takes you to a page where you can combine anything the author has written.

I scrolled down to the particular book and saw that under Homespun Bride, Hometown Bride was listed as one of the editions. There's a link that says "separate" by each edition, and if you click that it separates it into its own book.

My understanding is all editions of a book should be listed under one BOLDED title of the book in order to have them merged together, so if you see the same BOLDED title twice then you merge those two together.

Does that make sense?

message 47: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Ooh, thanks Camille! It works now :)

Thanks for the explanation. Now there are written instructions in case it is needed in the future.

message 49: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Could someone please combine these two editions of a book? I just got the UK edition free on my Kindle.

Their Newborn Gift and Their Newborn Gift

Thanks!
