Book 2 in the demonica series. Absolutely loved it. This is one fast paced story that has so many twists and turns readers will never see coming. I didn't want to put it down but I also didn't want it to end. There are subplots and characters that keep the story from being one-sided. we get more info about the relationship between Gem and Kynan and learn about Roag. Another hot hot read. Will continue with the series.

And, Yay! for our next stamp! I'll be back later or tomorrow, at the latest, to update our info and bingo card.
I'm going to read

Hope everyone has a great Mom's day weekend and finds a PNR they will love! Happy Mom's Day & Happy Reading, Team!

I enjoyed this book. I love stories set in Victorian times. I like being transported to those times and imagining what it would be like to live in those times.
Venetia Milton is a woman in her late twenties, over proper marrying age. She has already accepted the fact that she will never have a husband but does not see why she can't enjoy a little passion in her life.
She is sent to photograph certain artifacts for a very secret society, the Arcane Society, when she meets Gabriel Jones.
Gabriel seems like the perfect man for her seduction scheme. On the night her seduction becomes a success she is suddenly escaping the house from dangerous intruders leaving Gabriel to fend them off.
Later Venetia is shocked to hear that Gabriel has died. She moves to London taking his name and starting her successful career as the recently widowed photographer Mrs. Jones. Everything seems to be going well for Mrs. Jones until Mr. Jones arrives on her door step. It looks like what she hoped was one uncomplicated night of pleasure has entered her into the dangerous tangles of this secret society with ties to the paranormal.
Not only does it have witty dialogue that moves along very quickly (you'll not want to put it down), but it has an unexpectedly sweet romance topped off by an intriguing mystery that includes a bit of the paranormal. You really do get caught up in the feeling of being caught up in the foggy nights and creepy events taking place.

I finished my PNR read also.

Review: I was really impressed with Visions of Magic and the world building Hastings put into it. Magic has reemerged in a very public way, striking panic into ordinary humans. Witch hunts, internment camps and burnings are the all too plausible results as Hastings writes it. The characters are interesting also. Shea "Awakens" and her struggle to hide her powers ends. Instead, she must learn to use them as quickly as possible, search her surfacing memories of the first coven and overcome the temptation to seek power for its own sake. I was intrigued by the concept of Eternals, but I wanted a little more depth from Torin. Rune had less "screen time" and made more of an impression on me. I can't wait to read his story and will definitely continue reading this series.

This is one of those very fluffy reads. It is just so cheesy and over the top, annoyingly so at times, but overall still fun. The story takes place in a small town of 947 people with a superstudly, over-pheromoned dude named Sean who can't get girls to leave him alone. He meets a wizard couple who give him a potion to make him unattractive. Then, he meets the girl of his dreams, Maggie, who is also trying to buy his childhood home and turn it into a bargain chain store. Unfortunately, Sean's lost his mojo and doesn't know how to woo her or convince her to look elsewhere for a store location. Insert some drama and antics, uninhibited sex, end with HEA.
Question here. Our stud Sean literally butters Maggie up with a stick of room-temp butter while they're getting it on in the kitchen. Was the author serious about that being sexy or was it more of a spoof on crazy sex? I'm not getting the sexiness in that, but maybe that's just me.

Queen of Shadows began as an intense read for me. It was dark and it had a rather traumatic event right at the start of the novel. I actually contemplated setting the book aside and looking for a lighter read. I’m glad I stuck with it because it quickly became a compelling read.
Our heroine Miranda Grey is an empath spiraling on the brink of a mental breakdown. One of the few things that keep Miranda grounded is her music. She is known for the ability to elicit emotion from her audience. David Solomon is Austin Texas Prime, the head vampire of the area. When he meets Miranda at the grocery store, he is attracted by her abilities and plans to track her down. He finds her after her attack and brings her to Haven to recuperate.
The main characters were likeable. Miranda starts off as a fragile, broken girl, tormented by nightmares. It’s easy to sympathize with her situation and the author handled her attack and the aftermath well. I liked watching Miranda learn to use her abilities and defend herself. The training sessions with David and later, Sophie were interesting.
David’s character was unexpected. You don’t often see vampires that are techno-geeks and I loved his gadgets and his way with computers. David’s vampire abilities were awesome. I loved him in the battle scenes.
I did feel that the story was a little predictable, and there were several niggling little things that were a tad inconsistent, but aside from that, I had difficulty putting the book down. I’m looking forward to reading the next book Shadowflame.

OMG, did it seriously just end like that?
So not cool.
I, for one, do not buy it, because Neill is usually a good writer & good writers know what their readers want and that was so not what any fan of the series would want. Worst cliffhanger ever!
Ok, angry fangirl rant over :P
So, the rest of the book was alright, I guess. Maybe a bit on the chatty-chatty side instead of the punch and kicking that UF stories are known and popular for. Before this book I never noticed how political this series is, after a while - its just like blah, blah, get on with it and take out your damn sword, woman!
Can’t say I liked it, but really can’t say I hated it.
(I have an outlandish theory that Celina glamoured the whole scene in Tate’s office, since she’s apparently so good at that. And now her & her minions have him locked up somewhere and that Malik is secretly evil and in cahoots with Celina)

Willow has always been psychic. Simply grasping someone’s hand will give her access to a person’s possible futures, which Willow views as branchings off a tree. When her classmate Beth unexpectedly asks for a reading, Willow is plunged into a world of deadly, human-consuming angels and slowly begins to understand the intricacies of cattle farming -- or human aura trafficking, whichever term you prefer. As the angels become aware of Willow’s existence and decide that they want her dead, Willow is whisked off on a daring escape plan with angel assassin Alex, and the two set off on a road-trip to save themselves and perhaps the entirety of humankind. It turns out to be a trip filled with deception and gun chases and auto theft; after all, these aren’t peaceful little fluffy-winged angels we’re talking about here.
Angel Burn contains a set of very untraditional angels and two extremely cute main characters -- and here, I seriously stress the word cute. The evil angels background acted as a great hook, and the author knows exactly how to create enough suspense to prevent the reader from putting down the book. The alternating perspectives are slightly disjointed at times, but overall it succeeded in portraying the feelings of various characters. Willow is the only one honored with first person, and in my humble I’m-not-an-editor-but-it’s-ok opinion, the author would have been better off simply keeping her in third person like the rest of the characters.
Kudos to Miss Weatherly for giving Alex and Willow time to get to know each other before proceeding to the lovey-dovey stage. However, once they got to that stage, the cheesiness began to overwhelm. Now, I am generally a proud enjoyer of cheesy romance novels; still, there were some scenes that morphed my aww, they’re so adorable into an ugh, guys, please stop before I start puking rainbows.
All in all, this novel was a surprisingly great read. I am looking forward to the sequel, Angel Fire.

I will be doing my review tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing great!

Jo - That's an interesting theory, but I hope not only because (view spoiler)
Cinnamon - I'm with you on Angel Burn. They are a very cute couple! I liked the book a lot though. Thought it was pretty unique concept.
Tania - hope you're enjoying the book! Looking forward to the review :)

Review: I hate to leave such a low rating for such a great series, but this book was a bit of a disappointment to me. The story was there, the characters were there etc... but I found this book to be totally overwhelming. Too much going on throughout the book. So much I found it hard to keep interested at times.
I loved certain things though... I don't want to go into exact details and ruin the book for anyone, so Ill be general. As with her other books, certain characters are focused on in each novel. This book focuses on Rhage and his Shellan to be Camella. (I really liked her strength and innocence, as well as how Rhages character emerges.... very cool)) The storyline of the young guns; John, Quinn, Blay and Lash continues to build and was a strong point of this book IMHO. Well as I'm hearing myself, I think that the stories high points greatly outweigh the lows and maybe I am being harsh with my rating. My point with the rating is with such great characters and plots: I felt cheated, as too much of the story was just not expanded upon enough.
Despite my review, I can't wait to grab the next book!

Review: I have really enjoyed this series so far. This one, however, frustrated me a bit. The book starts off with a dramatic WTH moment, then we have to read the book to find out the sequence of events that get Abby to that point. That didn't bother me, in fact, I was unable to predict the baddie in this one.
What did bother me? It gets a bit spoilery, but basically Abby and FBI Beau, Dutch have an argument on Valentine's Day (view spoiler) before she heads to her childhood BFF's wedding.
While in Colorado, bride's maids go missing. Abby's psychic skills come in handy helping to catch a killer.
The second issue I had with the book was how the reunion between Abby and Dutch went. After the events from Valentine's Day to then, his response (view spoiler) was not believable at all.
Up until that point - it was a 4 read. It lost a for that disappointment.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
