Susan | 145 comments I am currently reading Hounded by Kevin Hearne and the Chicks Kick Butt anthology. Both are good so far. Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne Chicks Kick Butt by Rachel Caine

message 53: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I am reading River Secrets which is a book that's been in my to-be-read pile for around 3 years. Good story.

message 54: by Bastard (new)

Bastard | 30 comments Finished The Hour of Dust and Ashes by Kelly Gay, and after a slow overall first half, the 2nd half was really good.

Now reading Low Town by Daniel Polansky.

message 55: by Christine (new)

Christine | 752 comments I finished 'A Hard Day's Knight' by Simon R. Green. The books may become a bit formulaic after a while, but they are still so enjoyable. In what other series can you be thoroughly amused on one page and totally horrified on the next?

And now I'm undecided between Spell Bound by Kelley Armstrong or Hexed by Kevin Hearne. Which too choose....

Spell Bound (Women of the Otherworld #12) by Kelley Armstrong or Hexed (Iron Druid Chronicles, #2) by Kevin Hearne

message 56: by Bastard (new)

Bastard | 30 comments That's easy. Hexed.

message 57: by Bastard (new)

Bastard | 30 comments I read Magic in the Bones from her, didn't like it much but I liked her ideas and was promising enough that I'll continue and see where it goes.

message 58: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (drakenfyre75) | 39 comments Just got done reading Hexed (Iron Druid Chronicles, #2) by Kevin Hearne and alredy about 100 pages into Hammered (Iron Druid Chronicles, #3) by Kevin Hearne

I could barely get through that book. I think it's one of those that you love or hate - like black licorice.

I find most steampunk books are like that.

lol I like the way you put that. I haven't picked up Dead Iron yet but I didn't particularly enjoy the Allie Beckstrom books so I'm not sure if Dead Iron will be for me either.

Just started with:

The Better Part of Darkness (Charlie Madigan, #1) by Kelly Gay

I've had it in my TBR for quite sometime - now I regret leaving it for so long, it's a solid read so far.

message 62: by Laura (new)

Laura Carson (laurarcarson) Finished Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane One Reckless Summer (Destiny, #1) by Toni Blake One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) by Jeaniene Frost Bound by Blood (Volume 1) by P.A. Lupton
Working on The Rest Falls Away (Gardella Vampire Chronicles, #1) by Colleen Gleason Hotter After Midnight (Midnight, #1) by Cynthia Eden Stray (Shifters, #1) by Rachel Vincent
Hopefully starting City of Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #3) by Stacia Kane soon, I am loving this series!

message 63: by L-D (new)

L-D (lannie95) Reading Shadow Game (GhostWalkers, #1) by Christine Feehan - so far it's pretty good. The Ghostwalkers series gets a lot of recommendations and I've had it on my TBR for awhile. Finally jumped into this one for part of a September challenge.

message 64: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I'm reading Hidden Away (KGI, #3) by Maya Banks . I think this is my first Maya Banks book.

I love the opening exchange between Atticus and Leif regarding Leif's archaic use of language. But I just love the way Leif talks and hope he doesn't change a thing!

ARGH! I'm so glad you said that. I only read about 10 pages and kept getting distracted! My problem is I've read so many great books this month for the challenges, that I want to jump into other books in those series....instead of reading book #1 of like 10 different series. I can't get focused!!

I hear you!! I just started doing challenges recently and on one hand they are great for helping me decide what to pick off the TBR pile next, but other times I feel compelled to read something just because it fits a category rather than it's what I really want to read. But the challenges are kind of addictive. And I've got too many series that I really need to focus on and finish. At least the Jesse James Dawson series is only two books so far....

I ended up dumping the audio and reading the book...the narrator was not bad but this (to me) is one of the books that is better to read then listen....I will be starting the 2nd book soon

Huh, now I'm kinda interested in it. I stopped reading the series at that book because the premise just didn't sound interesting... I'll have to pick it up! :)

message 85: by Christine (new)

Christine | 752 comments I am totally smitten with Kevin Hearne and cannot wait until Tricked comes out next April!

For now, I'm revisiting the very first UF/PNR series I read (after Twilight, I must confess). After two years, I think it's time to catch up with Sookie.

Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, #10) by Charlaine Harris

Monica Briscoe (chloetwin) | 1 comments I just finished all five books in the Fever Series by Karen Moning...It was absolutely fabulous. It had been sitting on my Kindle for awhile, I guess it didn't sound appealing for some reason but decided I would give it a try. I am so glad I did!!! The fifth book was amazing :) Now I am going to read Covet by JR Ward and Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.

I was over it when (view spoiler). Lost all it's appeal after that.

That is funny because that is when I decided to give up too. Just couldn't buy into that, especially the way they did it.
