LilMisGrayBrisk I finally finished Crossroads (Anna Strong Chronicles, #7) by Jeanne C. Stein (really busy this week) and it was very good. This is a series that needs more recognition than it gets, IMO. Heartless (The Parasol Protectorate, #4) by Gail Carriger is next.

I wanted to like this book, but I had a really hard time getting into it. About half way through it finally started to grab my attention enough that I'm willing to give the second book a try. Eventually. But I think this is one of those that you really need to be in the "mood" to read.

It was so cute! I love steampunk anyway, and vampires were an added bonus, lol. I definitely want to read more in the series.

Now I'm reading Never Let Me Go which is very haunting. Unfortunately, I knew what the book was about before I started reading it :(

Jo Anne | 22 comments I just finished Eileen Wilks new book. Death Magic.
I thought it was very good. It continues the story of Rule Tanner and Lily Yu with some of the characters from previous books. The Great Bitch is still trying to get to earth. Using humans to do her dirty work. She wants to rid this dimension of all the lupi. The Lady who made the lupi fights to keep the Great Bitch out.
I would read these in order. Doing NaNa so no reading for the rest of the month.
Jo

Christine | 752 comments Trace wrote: "I will have to check out Eileen Wilks. I haven't read anything from her as of yet."

I definitely recommend it. And I think the only series I've read so far in which the lead character is Asian-American. It's great if you like mysteries/FBI procedurals and it's got a nice touch of romance. It's starts out with your typical 'their eyes meet and the mating bond snaps into place', but they actually spend several books learning to live with the bond and coming to respect and love one another regardless of the mating bond. And I love many of the supporting characters.

Checked it out in an online library, and I have to wait until my turn comes up again, but your encouragement helps. I'd just gotten to the part where they talk about (view spoiler). I don't hate romance, but I have hopes that there's so much more there.
