This is more of a support group folder. Only other self-published authors know how hard this job is. This is a place to talk about those difficulties and support each other.

Lol Yes I know how you feel. I am currently on my 3rd round of edits for my latest work. I want to give up all the time, but I remind myself, anyone can write, what separates us into authors, is being willing to do the part that sucks. If it was all fun everyone would do it.
This is my favorite quote on the subject.

"You want to sound as perky and enthusiastic as possible, on a book tour, so your listening audience won’t suspect that you really, deep down inside, don’t want to talk about your book ever ever ever again. You have come to hate your book. Back at the beginning, you kind of liked it, but now you think of it as a large repulsive insect that cheerful hosts keep hauling out and sticking in your face and asking you to pet."

Karen A. Wyle (kawyle) | 62 comments That quotation is perfect! I've been wondering about how to keep my enthusiasm from flagging, or (at times) how to raise it from the dead.... I recently put my book aside completely (for the first time since finishing the rough draft 9 months ago) while I worked on the rough draft of another book. Coming back to the first book after that haitus let me see various problems and opportunities that I'd managed to miss on the previous umpteen edits. But I think it'd take a longer break for the book to feel really fresh again.

D.G. Torrens (torrenstp) | 1 comments I hear you all I am just coming to the finish of my first book! And from this weekend onwards its all about edit, edit, and more edit, I have drafted in some help in this process from three people including one English teacher, I read recently that an author who has edited there own book has not had there book edited! Very wise words as we don't always pick up our own mistakes no matter how much we proof read! I am dreading having to go through it all and there have been times recently where I have just felt so exhaused with it all as I am writing around a very energetic toddler!! who is not a big fan of sleeping!

Good luck Dawn!

Benjamin | 1 comments I have created the start of what in times past I titled books.
I have a growing collection of small hard-backed writing note books, each with a title in mind that have not yet come to fruition as a completed writing project that is marketable.
I had the emotional and intellectual intention to finish, but still have yet to do so.
